About Idlewild Campground
Idlewild Campground is a beautiful first-come, first-served campground located very close to the town of Winter Park and the mountain lifts. It is directly on the Fraser River Trail, which is used by many people as a walking path from town, making the camp very busy during the day. The pretty campground is next to the river with lots of pine trees, but it does not offer great seclusion or privacy as sites are right off this busy trail and near Highway 40. There is some noise from highway traffic, late night trains, and occasional campground activity. The sites are described as beautiful, very clean, and easy to navigate, with picnic tables and campfire pits. Facilities include clean vault toilets. The location is extremely convenient for accessing town, the mountain for activities like biking, and the scenic trail. It is a dog-friendly campground where dogs must be on a leash. The season typically runs from late spring through fall.

Close to the highway so you can hear the noise but Fraser River makes up for it. It’s a beautiful campground if you get a spot deeper in.

Got the last spot the other night, right by the road but not too rowdy after 10pm. It was a beautiful site, very clean and easy to navigate!
