This review is for the ansonia Stop & Shop. This was our family's market for many years. Unfortunately it has gone down drastically over the past years where it is evident that they hardly bother to keep it clean anymore. Prices are higher than in other markets in the area and the staff is just rude to the point that it is clear that they don't want to be there. The service desk is useless so don't bother asking any questions on products. Quite honestly I'm a little surprised that they've been able to stay open considering the better competition in the area.Sorry Stop & Shop but there's too many better markets around.

My mom, sister and I went shopping for 21 families this past Saturday. The grocery manager Dwayne was amazing, and got us the food we were looking for if it wasn’t stocked on the shelves, or if we didn’t have enough of an item. He made the shopping experience very smooth and truly showed the Thanksgiving spirit in what has been a difficult year. Thank you!

Meat prices Outrageous. There was two large packages of chicken breasts both packages were bloated, not good. I like the convenience of going to stop and shop because I can scan the groceries in then bag as I go. Get in and get out but today I had to go to Bj’s for the meat much better prices and selection.

needed a price check on paper towels I had just purchased at the the self checkout...was told The Courtesy Desk is not staffed until 8:30 am! This was today, Friday! Was told the only cashier with a line of 3 customers would check it, by scanning the upc code, but that was only after checking out all 3 customers. This is unacceptable service, and not the first time. This store has hardly any staff in the morning, and is not the cleanest. On the last visit used gloves were in the cart...and also couldn't get help at self- service. The morning is the safest time to shop with covid, but do not shop here. Shoprite around the corner is fully staffed, exceptionally clean, always stocked. Workers are polite unlike Stop and Shop. Will avoid Stop and Shop. This Ansonia store is to be avoided.

I've really tried with this deli over a few years and I hate posting negative reviews but it's just terrible. I had been ordering cold cuts through Peapod but after a few tries I was just throwing them out. They do not follow instructions on how you want your deli meat sliced. I even went there, 8 months pregnant with my 2 year old, to speak to the deli manager about it, but it didn't change. I just had to go out for deli meat, which negates the purpose of Peapod. Then covid happened and you couldn't order from Peapod anyway so you had no choice but to go there. Then they started to force you to order ahead through the app and pick up but then had the same problem-- not paying any mind to the instructions. Today I had this problem with my order of Genoa salami. I asked the man behind the counter to please re-slice. Without asking he was going to give me a totally different brand, and hard salami to boot. They obviously don't care about customer service. I only come here when I'm going to big y anyway because it's convenient but I'll go to Big Y instead.

The Peapod delivery service leaves much to be desired. After waiting two weeks for a delivery, we only received 1/3 of the items we ordered. We knew that most, if not all, of the missing items were available in the store so we called the Manager. His excuses ranged from "too busy" to "in-store customers have priority". Yes, Peapod is understandably busy due to Covid-19 but isn't that why we had to wait for two weeks? It was our fair turn and "too busy" doesn't cut it. Also, if "in-store customers have priority", this should be stated upfront. The Manager checked our order and finally agreed that the missing items were in the store and should have been included in the order. To his credit the rest of the order was later delivered with no additional delivery charge but the experience was negative overall. We will not be using this service again.

If I could use one word to describe this place it would be FILTHY. Before you even walk in you have to pass some guy(not sure if homeless or not) that chain smokes cigarettes all day in front of the bottle return. There's almost NEVER shopping carts inside the store. The produce section might be the most disgusting part of the store. The produce is never fresh and usually rotting. Most(not all) of the employees are unapproachable and have an attitude problem. Oh, I almost forgot the creepy guy that works in produce told my girlfriend that the carrots she was picking out "are good for the baby". My girlfriend isn't pregnant(we did put on weight, but not even close enough to look pregnant!). Made the manager aware of the situation. No apology and basically brushed it off. We live about five minutes from the store, but drive a few exits and go to the Stop and Shop in Shelton. Awesome store, helpful and friendly employees, shelved always stocked and the produce section is amazing. Did I mention you can eat off the floors, it's so clean. Save yourself the frustration and stay away from Ansonia S&S.

I am a type II diabetic and Peapod wanted to deliver my groceries to me between the hours of 8pm-10pm. That would be fine if I wasn't a diabetic. I could go into a diabetic shock/coma waiting for my food. Unacceptable customer service. They really don't care- I will use another delivery service in the future.

Prices are very competitive with the three other gas stations within the block. They are cheaper than BJ's across the street if your using your points from shopping at the grocery. The best part is IF there is a line to wait (like before snow storm, holiday, etc) you are maybe waiting for a car or two unlike across the street and the other big name gas station where you have a wait most days.

Some of the people who work there are very helpful and nice so I feel bad writing a negative review but I am a very unhappy customer. I went there today, a Monday, at 1pm and there were no carts available (this happens a lot). One of those electrical scooters was beeping in the parking lot from the time I went in to when I left (about 40min) and no one seemed to care. I mention the things that happen today as an example of what I think is lack of proper management. In the past things have happened such as: rotten produces, kids on bikes hitting cars in the lot with no one intervening, no fast lane (12items or less) open, and loads of trash flying around in the parking lot. Time to look into your store management Stop&Shop, this location has consistently been having issues since I started going.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a cashier. Arianna was miserable and taking it out on everyone in her sight. After moving here 2 months ago it's time for a new and friendly grocery store.

STAY AWAY! I popped my tire pulling into their parking lot- the curb sticks out really far. Went to town fair tore the next day and met 2 other people who also popped their tire in the same exact spot. The manager of the store and the property manager were both informed. I was assured they would do something ASAP so that other people wouldn't have the same issue. When I drove by today, over a week later, they didn't do anything to remedy the situation. I told them the least they could do was put out a cone to warn people, they assured me they would. Again, nothing has been done! The property manager actually told me to contact the town of Ansonia to complain about the curb. They told the other woman who popped her tore to go through her insurance company.

Incompetent bakery staff; unhelpful, and they don't know basic information about their stock
