Our daughter has just spent 8 weeks at Camp Chinqueka and has had the most incredible summer! The amazing team of counsellors & administration, the beautiful location and activities/events - our daughter is already counting down to return for Summer 2024!

This is an incredible camp to send your kids too. Entertaining activities, approachable and staff and they do everything they can to ensure the kids have the best summer. Couldn't speak more highly of Camp Chinqueka.

We as parents and my daughter had a terrible experience with this camp. We drove 2.5 hours to CT to drop off her off and were just about back home when we got a call from the nurse concerning a swollen eyelid. I explained that she had had conjunctivitis two weeks prior but had been cleared by a doctor. They said that they would not let her join the other campers (this is her first day and first time at sleepaway camp, mind you) until we provided a doctor's note, which we immediately provided even though it was Sunday. The nurse then called us back, stating that she didn't believe the doctor's note (!!) and called the doctor's office, where she spoke to a doctor that has NEVER SEEN MY DAUGHTER and called us back to say that no, they would not be allowing her to stay at camp. We had to drive all the way back to CT to pick her up that evening. My daughter had been looking forward to this experience, so I took her to the doctor again the next day to have the same doctor from before re-examine her and provide another detailed note. Meanwhile, my husband tried to contact the camp, but the director refused to speak to him. He did manage to speak to a nurse who stated that the camp doctor (who had also never seen my daughter) would not allow her back. Even with a second doctor's note. They offered us a credit for next year (like we would ever go back there again). I wrote to the director stating that I would require a full refund if they wouldn't allow her back given that there was no medical reason she couldn't attend. They then reversed course and said that I would need a note from an opthamologist for her to return. So we went to the doctor a third time, and got a note releasing her, at which point they allowed her to return to camp, so yes, we drove the 5 hr round trip back to camp to take her.Fast forward to pick up day 10 days later. We arrive to retrieve her and she has no voice and a 102 fever. She stated that she had gone to the nurse the night before but was sent back to her cabin. Nobody contacted us that she was not feeling well. She also said that there were two other girls in her cabin that were sick. So we had to get three doctor's notes for a swollen eyelid but my daughter's high fever and congestion, in the middle of a pandemic, were allowed in the cabin with everyone else, and we were not contacted. So yes, we had to go back to a doctor with her, go through covid testing, etc…Thankfully, she was negative, but at this point we have incurred over $1000 in doctor's visits for her plus an extra 10 hours of driving, on top of the ~$4000 that we spent to send her to camp in the first place. This experience was terrible for both kids (we sent our son to Awosting) and for us as parents. I would give negative stars if I could.

I was a camper for 6 summers at Chinqueka and I could only say great things about my experience there! I was able to meet some of my life-long friends there and try as many new activities as I had time for during my 6 weeks each summer. The counselors were always encouraging the campers throughout anything we did and were there if you ever needed a shoulder to cry on.

Camp Chinqueka is a home away from home for girls to have fun, try something new, make lifelong friends and learn alot about themselves and others. If you are looking for a camp that will inspire your daughter, this is it! She will walk away with girl power spirit and a seriously fun summer!

I had the pleasure of working at Chinqueka as a photographer for two summers and had the most amazing time of my entire life! There are so many wonderful activities and the staff is phenomenal year after year. I am so excited for the day I can send my own children here as I would not want them to miss out on this great experience.

I spent my most formative years at Camp Chinqueka. I learned to be a leader from the fantastic role models at Chinqueka, including the Director Amanda Ward. I learned to be kind and to work as a team through the activities and events organized by staff. I also made life long friends who I still speak to on a daily basis and who have supported me through all my ups and downs. I would not have been as successful in school or in my career without the important life lessons I learned through spending each summer at camp. I would only hope that every young woman has the opportunity to spend their summers at Chinqueka.

I spent an amazing summer here in 2014 as the Tom Tom counsellor, and it’s one I’ll never forget. If you want your kids to gain confidence, leaderships skills, learn new things and have a lot of fun this is definitely the place for them. The girls are kept busy throughout the day making amazing new friends, meeting counsellors from around the world and trying loads of new activities. The food is the great, the cabins are great, the staff are great.I can’t wait to send my daughters here, i am going to be so incredibly excited for them.

Spent the 9 best summers of my life here, over a year of my life in total since age 10. Chinqueka taught me leadership, confidence, and spirit, and my summer family got me through the best and worst of times. I don’t know where I’d be without it- camp showed me that adventure is out there, and that you’re never too old to be a kid. Chinqueka IS girl power! ;)

Camp Chinqueka is such an amazing, special place where girls have the chance to be themselves, learn so much and make friends and memories that will last forever! I'm so excited to return home next year for my 4th summer in my favourite place!!
