I had SUCH a great first time experience at The Mechanical Advantage! I was looking to find a local Euro mechanic for my VW. However, I was willing to drive outside of my local arear for a well reviewed mechanic. The VW dealers just don't want to work on 20 year old cars, regardless of the condition.
Jay at The Mechanical Advantage came out and welcomed me the moment I got out of my car! Most mechanics or auto service rep tend to run AWAY from customers. A welcome family run environment in the lobby. Jay listened to my complaint very carefully, and even gave me some options on how to fix it. All options were very reasonably priced. They were busy enough that they told me it might be up to a week before they could get to it. Surprisingly they called the next day and said they happened to have a open bay period and got the car in.
I will absolutely be coming back. Thank you Jay!!!”
“Very good place to bring your car. They make appointments that work for you and then do the work you have asked for. They also tell you what else it may need and let you do fixes at your pace and when you have the money. Great place!!!!”

“My VW car battery died in Granby and I got a boost from James, who suggested I take the car to Mitchell VW in Simsbury (about 20 minutes away) and he would follow me. He is a long-time customer of Matt Figueroa and he had to stop in there anyhow. So, with no advance notice I showed up there with James. In under an hour I was driving home. I had been a regular customer at Mitchell in the past, but the drive takes me 35 minutes from my house in Suffield and I wind up having to figure out how to spend my time when I will be there a while. Still, my recent experience will lead me to re-evaluate my future plans.”

“I have to say that I have never had such good service at a place that installs tires. I had made an appointment with Jimmy's Auto & Tire last week to have the stock tires that came on my 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR 4x4 changed out before winter weather arrives here in New England. I arrived this morning and was greeted at the front desk by Jimmy. I was then introduced to Chad who is Jimmy's assistant in the garage and he showed me the tires that they would be installing. I was in and out of their garage in about 30 / 40 minutes tops and on my way home. The new tires that they installed made a big difference. “Experience #1 - I went to a nearby dealer to buy a part. I got talked into doing a test at the dealer and they came back saying I didn't need the part and that the real issue was my water pump. They wanted to charge over $1K for the total repair. A friend recommended Ron's Automotive. It was late in the day and I called his shop and told him I needed a new water pump. His quote was a lot lower. I got to his shop after hours and dropped my car and key off without meeting Ron or anyone there. Early the next morning I got a call and Ron explained that I didn't need a new water pump. All I needed was a the part that I was originally going to buy. The quote he gave me for the repair was more than fair.”
