I had SUCH a great first time experience at The Mechanical Advantage! I was looking to find a local Euro mechanic for my VW. However, I was willing to drive outside of my local arear for a well reviewed mechanic. The VW dealers just don't want to work on 20 year old cars, regardless of the condition.
Jay at The Mechanical Advantage came out and welcomed me the moment I got out of my car! Most mechanics or auto service rep tend to run AWAY from customers. A welcome family run environment in the lobby. Jay listened to my complaint very carefully, and even gave me some options on how to fix it. All options were very reasonably priced. They were busy enough that they told me it might be up to a week before they could get to it. Surprisingly they called the next day and said they happened to have a open bay period and got the car in.
I will absolutely be coming back. Thank you Jay!!!

Got an estimate for several thousand dollars from a dealership, and on my dad's recommendation went here for a second opinion. They took a look and said it was a much smaller problem, fixed it for about 20 percent of the dealership quote. Amazing job and saved us so much trouble. I will come back, an honest mechanic is worth their weight in gold. Thanks guys.

Initial meeting was nice. Brought 2 cars in for about $1700 worth of needed repairs. I worked at a VW and Audi dealership for 8 years and for personal reasons won't go there for repairs. The work done, honesty and price was a great experience. Thank you guys,Michael

Go here if you want to pay double what he estimates and get charged labor on any failed work he does. Maybe it’s a math skills issue or they are just crooks!

So I’ll start off with this. I’m surprised after reading all these great reviews and also after seeing all types of vw’s out front, I would’ve expected better phone etiquette when I called to quote dsg service. Not sure who picked up the phone but he sounded annoyed. When I asked if they perform dsg service, he acted like he didn’t know what what a dsg was. After explaining that it’s vw’s transmission, he says “oh yeah”. I ask how much for the service and he replies in an annoyed tone, it’s like $400 bucks. I kindly thanked him and hung up the phone. $400 is more than what the dealers quoted me but I would’ve happily went to “the mechanical advantage” if the person who answered the phone was more professional or at least courteous to a potential customer (me). I’m not telling anyone to not go there but that was my experience. And this was just on the phone. I ended up servicing the dsg myself and I do need some additional work done but I’ll just bring it to a dealer to save myself the headaches.
