God save us. Our job just switched to this healthcare provider from Connecticare. Connecticare was bad and by looking at the reviews this company is no different.

Cigna is hands down the worst health insurance company I have ever dealt with. Their lack of professionalism, poor communication, and failure to provide the services they promise make them a nightmare for anyone who actually needs healthcare coverage.
First off, their customer service is atrocious—long wait times, rude representatives, and zero accountability. Getting a straight answer from them is impossible, and when you finally do, it’s usually wrong or contradicts something they told you before.
Then there’s the constant claim denials for treatments that should be covered. They make it incredibly difficult to get necessary procedures approved, leaving patients to fight endless appeals or pay out of pocket. It seems like their entire goal is to delay, deny, and frustrate people into giving up.
The benefits are awful—what’s the point of having insurance if you’re paying absurd premiums for minimal coverage? Even basic services come with hidden fees, loopholes, and restrictions they don’t bother to disclose until it’s too late.
If you value your health and peace of mind, stay far away from Cigna. They prioritize profit over patient care, and dealing with them is nothing but stress, wasted time, and financial burden.

Criminal company. Theft of your monthly payments. Denial of services needed. Even after tests, 5 MRIs prove the disability. Found out after company switch to this worthless medical insurance company. Stay away. Zero star's.

Worst place to work for especially as a security guard. They do not let you leave for breaks and they do not let you leave after your scheduled time to leave!

They are the WORST. They do not pay providers. They lie. You are better off without insurance. Just terrible.

Despite consistently paying over $2,000 in monthly premiums for the past 10 years, I have repeatedly faced denials for essential routine tests unless I meet additional out-of-pocket costs through a deductible.
The denial came from a Cigna peer review conducted by an OB-GYN, not a neurologist or neurosurgeon. This decision raises serious concerns about the qualifications of the reviewers making such critical determinations. A specialist in obstetrics and gynecology is not qualified to evaluate the necessity of neurological imaging, yet this denial was issued under their authority.
Impact on Patient Health
Delaying or denying essential diagnostic procedures such as brain MRIs can have severe and potentially life-threatening consequences. Cigna's actions, in this regard, exhibit a gross negligence towards patient health. By denying medically necessary procedures recommended by specialists, Cigna is not only failing its customers but also jeopardizing their health, possibly contributing to preventable complications or fatalities.
Large-scale lawsuit against Cigna related to automatic claim denials during the period of 2022, involving millions of claims processed without adequate medical review.
The lawsuit was filed in California's Eastern District Court in July 2023 by Clarkson Law Firm P.C. It claims that Cigna's use of the algorithm, called PXDx, violated California state law. The law requires that insurers review each claim "thoroughly, fairly, and objectively".
Currently – 2024
A recommended a routine, preventive ultrasound denied by Cigna unless an additional deductible is paid, which is higher than the cost of the ultrasound itself.

If you ever get Cigna as your insurance through your employer it likely means they're cheapskates. This insurance has terrible customer service if you call and you'll be lucky if you get someone who even fully understands English. They can tell you one thing on the phone about what is and isn't covered and then later decide something completely different. And if you ever think you can expedite something by getting it "escalated" good luck you still will never hear back from them at all.

They won't pay rewards I've earned on my Medicare Advantage Rewards account. What makes it even worse there is no email contact and the phone contacts are untrained and seem not to care.

I would give ZERO STARS if I could... first they approved a prosthetic leg. Then 6 months later said you have to pay for it. This is a $hit company

After researching for hours to select a PCP based on the availability information provided by the Cigna website, I called to make an appointment only to discover that all my preferred choices were not accepting new patients.

Cigna is an evil corporation. If you think that people don't see how aggressive you've gotten to make people suffer by denying coverage, denying diagnostic tests, denying vital medication and only pushing certain toxic drugs, you are wrong. Anyone working for this company is part of the problem. You are supporting pure evil. Cigna- you are awful and the elites in power should be ashamed of themselves.

Cigna covers nothing. When you call all they do is talk in circles and can’t answer a basic yes or no question. I can’t afford the copayments because they are always 300$ to 800$ so I don’t get treatments because I can’t afford it. This is the only insurance my husband’s company offers. My obituary will read, cause of death Cigna insurance.

I have 2 experiences. This insurance is offered through my employer. I initially took this insurance when I first started working for them. At the time I needed a colonoscopy, which resulted in the removal of a polyp. Cigna did not cover this, stating it was diagnostic. I was in debt to the doctors for over $3,000 this bill is now in collections. My second experience was this year comparing this insurance with my husband's. I spoke to at least three different representatives from Cigna, asking them to tell me what the cost will be for me to visit my healthcare providers. I felt like they were all reading from a script and only gave me general information but could not give me specific amounts of what I would be spending. Fortunately, I was able to stay with my husband's insurance where I know what my co-pays are at each visit. I feel that this company has poor service, and due to its inability to give specific costs and information they have fraudulent practices.
