Lucy Tailors destroyed three shirts of mine. Instead of giving me genuine expert advice as to how best to take take in several dress shirts (I have broad shoulders and a narrow waist), Lucy took them in so much that they created a strange hump-back looking bunching in the back. She then tried to blame the shirt.I've lived in many cities with good tailoring, so I know that what I was asking for is not that complicated. She's fine for simple things like hemming pants, but I had to drop all the rest of her work off at goodwill. Will never come back.

I LOVE Lucy Tailor shop. The owners and staff are genuine and helpful. I've used their tailoring services since arriving in Branford nine years ago. I also use them for all dry cleaning needs. I recommend Lucy Tailor without hesitation! Ellen F

Lucy was quick, efficient, and an absolute pleasure. She and her family are the sweetest people! They got my bridesmaid dress done in less than a week. Highly recommend!

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Was literally told that they don't like doing alterations for sport coat sleeves and that''s why they charge so much. Would have been nice to know that before. I wouldn't want to ruin anyone's day because of my sports coats. Sorry!Services: Coat & jacket alterations

Walked into inquire about an alteration to a dress. Didn’t even acknowledge me as soon as i walked in. I understand some things can’t be done, but her tone was rude. I wouldn’t even bother going back for anything else i possibly would need done.

Now I am older and retired, I don't have quite the needsI did earlier. That said, the finished product, the value and even more importantly, the fun in coming in to this menagerie is really a blast! Lucy is still there every day and I have no interest in ever going elsewhere. Dry cleaning or alterations get five stars every time. Glad you're in Branford, Lucy!

Lucy is excellent !! Just make sure you get a receipt when you pay. I stupidly handed a hundred dollars over for a hem on a dress . I was told on the phone that was the price. and didn’t get my receipt. When I went to put the dress on, the receipt inside said 50 dollars . Just called and now I’m told I did not . Wow ! so disappointed . How many people I’ve recommended to go there . Please get your receipt. Sad.

Hands down best in town, don't bother going to anyplace else. Real people - really good work. Did my alterations exactly how I wanted, even better because of their suggestions. They know what they're doing.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE—Would give zero stars if I could. Called to inquire about tailoring for a bridesmaid dress to get an idea of prices/availability/turnaround/etc since I’m shopping around the shoreline area for a tailor that can alter my dress within a somewhat constricted timeframe. The girl who answered sounded like a child and was incredibly rude, didn’t actually answer my questions, and gave minimal information. When I asked if they did bridesmaid dress alterations, she said something vague about coming into the shop and didn’t explain anything to the effect of availability/appointments/if they only took walk-ins/etc despite my asking. The tone of her voice sounded impatient and annoyed. The true dealbreaker, however, was when I asked how long she expected it to take, she simply replied “it’ll be done”. I asked for clarification, such as how many days/weeks that would potentially be so that I could plan ahead, and she rudely and exasperatedly repeated that it’s just “gonna be done” by the date I needed it without any additional explanation and added that I was “cutting it close anyway”.Needless to say, I will take my business elsewhere since the person answering their phone can’t even be bothered to interact with customers professionally or with any manners whatsoever. I’m honestly surprised this place has such a good rating, makes me think that either the reviews aren’t genuine or I just happened to talk to a singular j*** employee. If it’s the latter, I highly recommend getting someone else to answer the phones since they represent the business to callers.

Needed some alterations...I was very pleased with the outcome...I'm downsizing my wardrobe by 3/4 and having items tailored makes them fit my body...the work was great...def worth the investment on clothes I really like...beautiful garden on the property...parking is a challenge as is getting in and out of the driveway...I'd street park in future

My daughter recently had her wedding dress altered at Lucy's. The rudeness and unprofessionalism of her daughter at the front desk is beyond belief. When my daughter had her fitting, she was only told, "Don't call, we'll call you when it's ready." Six and one half weeks later, one month before the wedding - no word. I stopped in- daughter barked at me, "Not ready." I said, "It's been six and one half weeks, at this point, I need a date it will be ready." Her response, "She don't do it until two weeks before. Can't give you a date. Don't know if you know her work, but she don't screw up." Can't comment on that as my daughter lives in Philadelphia and hasn't been able to try it on yet. (She was hoping to do this when she was in Branford one month after the fitting.) My advice- go elsewhere or brace yourself for incredibly rude behavior and lie about the wedding date. I'll never go back.

What a gem of a complete tailor, dress making alterations etc. There seems to be no limits to this woman's skill. They do it all.I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. You will leave; highly satisfied, a loyal customer and recommend them highly.Thank you for a wonderful experience!I will be back with more clothing for alterations when I return from this wedding.
