I have lived in Clinton 14 years and have shopped in this store from the time it was Shaws. My son worked here when it was Shaws. It has gone so downhill in the past 4-5 years. Today was my final time. We have spent thousands of dollars here and finally decided that due to never stocking product, filth and poor quality produce (long before Covid 19) that we would go to Stop and Shop and Big Y. Saw this weeks ad and decided to give it another try. Biggest mistake ever and will not return. Sale items not in stock (and like I said no excuses abiut the virus here because it wasnt stocked long before the virus. Staff walking around doing nothing, poor guy trying to serve customers overwhelmed and over worked yet no one offers help. No Black Bear roast beef, no Wunderbar Bologna...roast beef on sale in add. Go to customer service...no rainchecks...excuse Covid...really? Ask for Manager...rude, clueless and non caring. Blamed the no stock that youve experienced on our distributors...management 101 lady...dont put the blame on others...own it...especially when its been this way in this store a long time before any virus. Offered no apology...nothing...i told her that she will and had lost a good customer...her response..."ok". The new Big Y will put you out of business. What a shame...well really...shame on you.
***fast forward and I am completely stupid and try it again just for a couple sales items. Well same store, same mess, same manager. I had 9 items and the self check, of course, showed assistance needed when I really didn't. Lines at all registers and a line all the way to the bakery for the self checks. 1 young man standing part time at the self checks on a Tuesday! None of the self checks work properly and everyone has to wait at least 5 minutes for help as the line grows. Half of the sale items were completely out. That hasn't changed either. Amidst all this complete chaos, where is the Manager....sitting in an office oblivious to the fact the store is crumbling around her and most certainly not helping the employees that cannot keep up. How long are you...and by you I mean owners...going to let all this happen. To the customers thinking of shopping here...go to Big Y....the place is clean, beautiful and management is not only visible but assisting and so friendly!! You will be glad you did!

The store is well lit & clean. Produce section gets 5 stars for freshness & customer assistance.
Checking out was frustrating; there are not enough cashiers. The store owners should offer more money to attract more employees. Proper staffing eases the frustration of customers & the existing dedicated employees......

What's up with your deli department. I visit at this Shoprite every week or two for the last 4 years. Today I went to get some coldcuts and waited in line for over 20 minutes to get waited on. There were 3 people ahead of me that had a total of 5 small deli items. There was 1 person slicing, and another person in the deli department who was trying to get soup and hot food ready for lunch, and help out the 1 deli person (who appeared to be a new person). It seems that every 3 weeks or so there is a different new person slicing cold cuts. My problem is not with the deli employees, but the lack of them! Where is the management? I also go to Shoprite in Orange Ct and Milford CT and don't experience the same problem with the deli that I see at the Clinton CT store.

The current floral department has taken a huge step backwards. Flower selection poor, quality down, and more. Sale items aren't even available. Spring bulb plants "ON SALE" aren't even in the store. These are standard spring items. What happened to Jerry and Lucille. This department was so much more appealing when they were around on a routine schedule. They took pride in their work. This could be a duplicate review.

Needed some fresh vegetables yesterday, they are are getting worse as time goes on. Lots of spolied and rotten stuff that should be off the produce shelfs. I like the store in general but that area is one i generally skip.

Well I bought a starbursts fruit punch drink mix and it was good and I also bought fruit roll up and it was amazing and I bought a pop watermelon and lime drink it was really good but now when I bought my ice cream sandwich and I got home is was amazing , but after a couple days it was mushy and I was like mad but whatever but when I passed by this worker and also this was on Sunday afternoon but also I was with my own shopping cart and with a gift card in my hand and when I passed the worker that was at the ice cream section he looked at me and I think he was laughing.
