Made reservations for a 5pm Connecticut pickup. They gave us a different size SUV even though we reserved a certain size months in advance. We were stuck with the vehicle since we had to travel early the next morning and other rental locations would be closing soon. The vehicle was stolen overnight, 48 hours after of arriving at our vacation destination. We later found out that the vehicle they gave us has a very high theft rate. The Budget location in Montreal where it was stolen said they know it has a high theft rate and they refuse to carry it in their fleet. The Montreal location then forced another SUV on us even though we wanted a sedan due to another theft concern. We basically spent an entire day of our vacation dealing with the theft matter even though the theft was not due to our negligence. We were so traumatized by the event that we left our vacation early. When we returned the replacement vehicle to Connecticut the clerk was defending the decision to give us a different size SUV saying that I signed the contract. Now Budget wants to collect from my insurance. This will likely result in the loss of a no claim discount and higher rates. The clerk claimed the company would not know that they were giving us a high theft vehicle. Yeah right. They have data on everything. In my opinion, Budget was negligent and they are responsible for their own loss. I also want to add that Budget and likely other rental companies have zero modern anti theft protections. They have not kept up with the car theft criminals who use technology to steal vehicles such as hacking a car remote and driving away in the car in about a minute. Then we wonder why our insurance rates go up. The corporations should look at themselves for the reasons for losses and higher rates.

We were charged an additional $80 for returning our car 45 minutes late. Delta Airlines modified our schedule by moving our departure time back one hour but I didn't think to modify my car rental time because of Delta's actions. Lesson learned. But $80 for 45-minutes (plus we were stuck in traffic getting to JFK) seems unreasonable.

We picked up the car from this location. Staff gave us very beat up Ford Escape looked like 15 years ago model and probably adjusted the mileage at 44K miles. We paid this car for $92. After we drove for 5 mins, this car had some noise and not smooth drive. We drove back to exchange a new car. We were not sure how they just assigned this old car on purpose? Have they have any idea how dangerous for the customers. We were assumed that this car were belong to one of the staff there. Staffs were obnoxious. We rent a car on July 13th -July 15th 2023. If any manager read this review, should investigated. Pick up and Drop off staffs were pretty rude.

Budget robbed me with a ludicrous drop off fee. Customer service hung up on me before I even uttered a word. Would choose a competitor in the future even with my Amazon discount.

Budget has always giving us solid rental cars in the past but the lastest one was a major disappointment. We rented a Chrysler Pacifica and it was a nightmare. The infotainment system kept dropping connection with my phone and then completely froze while we were using navigation on the highway. My wife had to guide me with the phone. The right front tire was missing air. There was a whining nose when we made right turns. The passenger side seat was not height adjustable like the driver side so my wife, who is small, had to sit in the back in order for her feet not to hang. The ride was too mushy and the minivan felted like it wallowed on every bump. The oil change lamp came on while on our trip. There was a piece of cardboard blocking a light bulb in the back which was there when we took the van. The staff is always great so this rating is more on the rental then on them.

Online reservation staff were great! Pick-up and drop-off super easy and staff was great! Helped me out of a jam after reservation with another rental fell through!

The car itself was wonderful, it was a Chrysler Pacifica and fit our needs perfectly. When we got down to Vero Beach in Florida, because of the hurricane none of the GPS‘s were working or our phones. We could not locate a gas station by the airport where we were returning the vehicle, I explained this to the gentleman when I dropped it off. He said no problem. They still charge me $9.98 per gallon for a total of $196 for gas. When I called the customer service they told me there’s nothing they can do about that it’s 998.

I had to add all major fluids to vehicle: oil, brake, coolant, windshield!! Front tires bald! Interior filthy. What if I didn't have or know how to add ALL that and went on my 8 hours drive?

This location in Danbury is struggling with an outmoded facility, based in an old residence. This market could use a bigger more modern facility with more cars!

My last review contained a one-star rating for the Budget on Olive St in downtown New Haven. Even though I reserved them, the attendant there let me know that he had no car seats available and offered me no solution outside of “taking them off my bill”. His indifference was infuriating and my two toddlers had to travel an hour in the car without car seats (illegal). My wife called this location in Danbury and we had the total opposite experience. Not only did they set aside two car seats for us, but they did it with a smile on their face. It was very apparent that they were just as shocked at the other location’s behavior as we were, and that kind of empathy really helped redeem things for the Budget/Avis brand. Jennifer was the one helping us initially, but every employee in this location went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Thank you for everything!

We had to rent a suv after we broke down on highway the whole process was very easy the staff was very helpful and patient i was able to reserve online and pickup and drop-off very quickly Thanks
