“This is a coffee shop I really want to love.

From a design standpoint, it’s easily 5 stars. The tile finishes, furniture, décor, and painted mural wall are beautiful. It genuinely feels like hipster Brooklyn meets Greenwich, CT. The space itself is warm, stylish, and inviting — the kind of place that makes you excited to walk in and order a great coffee.

Unfortunately, the experience beyond the aesthetics has been far from consistent, and that’s based on two separate visits.

First visit:
There was only one other customer ahead of me, and I was in no rush. I’ve worked as a barista before, so I understand pacing and workflow. That said, when I walked in, the man behind the counter (who appeared to be an owner or manager) didn’t acknowledge me at all. I stood by the register for a while — no “hi,” no “I’ll be with you shortly,” nothing. He looked at me a couple of times but never said a word or showed any expression.

When he eventually took my order, he wasn’t rude, just very transactional. The coffee then took a surprisingly long time, despite there being no orders ahead of mine and no one behind me for several minutes. On top of that, the pricing is on the higher side (which I expect from a specialty café), but with the lack of basic customer engagement and a coffee that was just so-so, it didn’t feel worth it.

Second visit (last Sunday):
This time there was a DJ set — clearly a brunch vibe, which I respect since it’s becoming popular in Fairfield County. The woman who helped us (I’m assuming an owner) was actually very kind, attentive, and genuinely trying to provide good service.

However, I ordered an iced Americano and was told they don’t make that. That was honestly surprising, considering an iced Americano is simply espresso, water, and ice — one of the most basic coffee drinks. For a café of this size, price point, and aesthetic, that was unexpected. I ended up getting a cold brew, which was decent but not impressive. My mom’s coffee wasn’t good, and my cousin (who joined us) also wasn’t happy with their experience.

I posted an IG story because the place looks amazing, and a lot of people asked about it — especially with the DJ set. My honest response to everyone was: beautiful coffee shop, but inconsistent service, pricey, and the coffee itself isn’t impressive.

I see photos of great latte art and reviews from people who seem to have had excellent experiences, so maybe it depends on who’s behind the bar that day. Unfortunately, based on my two visits, the execution hasn’t matched the potential.

I’m writing this because I genuinely hope this feedback is taken into consideration. This is a place I want to love. But until I hear more consistently positive feedback from others, I probably won’t risk a third visit for a while.”

“My wife had purchased a few inexpensive Oriental plant stands and they were on their last legs. I started looking for quality replacements on the Internet because I do not drive and it is difficult for me to get around. I found Oriental Furnishings and became intrigued. Their selection was amazing. However, most importantly was their reviews. Every one I read was favorable or better. (Yes they can be better than just 5 stars) I decided on 2 rosewood plant stands and a rosewood coffee table but I wasn't sure if the colors matched. So I called their phone number and spoke to Bill. (who I later discovered that he was an owner) He couldn't have been nicer. He listened to my needs and put me on hold to check if the colors matched and if they were still in stock. Within minutes he returned with "yes" to both questions. I had asked if it was possible to have the items delivered into my home since I am 69 years old and disabled. He said he would arrange it but it might take 2 weeks. I said fine and I was very satisfied. He called me the following week and said they could be delivered in 2 days, a Friday. That was fine with me. At approximately 11:00 am an SUV drove up to my home. It was my furniture. The gentleman knocked on my door and asked if I was expecting a delivery. I said yes and he started to bring them. I told him that Bill, who I spoke to on the phone, was a really nice guy and extremely helpful. He then introduced himself as Bill. He told me his driver didn't show up today so he drove from Connecticut to Long Island to deliver my furniture. Without me asking, he unpacked and checked everything to make sure they were ok. He even removed the packing material. I have to say, they were beautiful. The colors were perfect and I couldn't be happier. In this day and age it is very rare that you find someone that is so considerate and caring of others. My entire dealings with Oriental Furnishings was fantastic and I highly recommend that you look there for you Oriental furniture and decorating needs. You will not be sorry. If you remember, in the beginning of my review, I said a company could be better than 5 stars. Now you understand why. Bill was absolutely fantastic to work with and when it's times to purchase more furnishings, I will only use Oriental Furnishings!??????????”

“We are loving our new outdoor furniture from United Home & Patio. Andy helped us select the perfect set for our home. He was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. Andy delivered the furniture to our home and set it up.
We started our search at a large retailer, and that was a dreary and unpleasant experience. Thank goodness we found Andy.”

“We have a large built-in couch and daybed in our 70’s conversation pit that had all-original upholstery and cushions that needed updating (over 30 cushions), as well as the “under” support cushions, and bottom and top frame fabric. After reading all the amazing google reviews, I called Little Joe’s, and Marie couldn’t have been more helpful. She actually drove around with me to three separate local fabric outlets to try and find the best solution (we were pretty particular about what we wanted).

This was an unusual job, because our couch and daybed have a lot of crazy angles, and I threw a curveball by adding even more angles in the back cushions (inspired by the Lautner Sheats home made famous in Big Lebowski). When I asked Marie about the extra angles for the back cushions, the answer was, “no problem.” We also had a hard deadline because our house was to be featured in a home tour… also “no problem.”

After the cushions were done, there were a few tweaks that needed to be made, but those all were taken care of in a timely fashion. The end result is stunning, and we couldn’t be happier. Considering the enormity of the job, I thought the pricing was super reasonable.

Working with Marie and her dad really was like working with a trusted family friend. The shop is a modest, no-frills affair, but I appreciate the savings being passed on to me (as opposed to the bonkers pricing of the other places in town with enormous fancy showrooms). If I could Little Joe Upholstery 12 stars, I would!”

“Was beyond thrilled with my King Size French Bed, end tables and the service I received from this company. I had spotted this bed many years ago in the UK and couldn’t justify the shipping or the off size as a Canadian. I happened upon this company and was still nervous to make a purchase like this online. I called and had my first conversation of many with Gloria. She was very helpful and accommodating. When she first sent pictures of my furniture from the manufacturer before it was shipped I was in a panic. The piece was what I wanted but the finish and upholstery material didn’t appear to be what I expected and wanted. We were communicating by text and I was honest with her about my concerns. She explained that because of the finish it could appear quite different depending on the light and angle. She assured me I would be happy and if not she would order me another one and send finish samples if I was uncomfortable. She sent more pictures when it arrived from her showroom and I made arrangements to pick it up. The bed is stunning and if anything exceeded my expectations. My husband inspected it thoroughly and said the workmanship and quality is fantastic. I really was quite a difficult customer through the process and Gloria always had time for me. The packing, care and service from her employeeswas also very professional and courteous. It was a real pleasure to meet Gloria at the end of this process and I can’t thank her enough. I wish this company a lot of success and give my vote of confidence in ordering from them.”

“Super cool store. Anything and everything antique-wise and I stayed for quite a while browsing and did buy a few things. There are very few stores like this left and it's actually more fun in some ways than going to a museum. Lots of autographed sports memorabilia and great photos. Hope they stay around for a while.”
