My experience was baffling; after talking with their sales manager, Dylan, Gengras, and setting up an appointment for the following day, I showed up at the appropriate time, I was greeted by a perfectly nice sales person who I had never talked to previously, only to find that both cars I had driven an hour to see we’re not there.It was especially frustrating since I indicated I needed to make a deal that day for timing reasons.The topper was that Dylan, the sales manager who I talked to the day prior, didn’t even come out of his office to apologize or even greet me.People first? I don’t think so.

Gengras Volvo in East Hartford (EH) advertised a used Audi for sale on its website. I wanted to test drive and likely buy the Audi for cash. I clicked on the "get today's price" link and provided all of my contact information so that a Gengras representative could reach me by phone, email or text. As a serious buyer, I stated that this would be a cash sale and that I wanted the final price out the door and to test drive the car. Gengras reps immediately called me, texted me, and emailed me. During a telephone call a Gengras rep advised me that the Audi was not actually in EH but was in Fairfield. The rep further advised that Gengras would transport the Audi to EH for me. This was on a Thurs. I requested to see the vehicle on Saturday. The representative advised that she would confirm the transport for Saturday and get back to me to secure an appointment time. Later that day, she advised that Gengras could not transport the vehicle to EH until Tues or Wed. I requested to see the vehicle on Tuesday morning and the rep confirmed. A short time later, she contacted me again to tell me that the transport would not take place until Tues afternoon. At that point, we scheduled a 2 PM appointment for me to test drive the car. At 1:30 PM on the Tuesday, I contacted Gengras by text to confirm the appointment and that the car had in fact been transported to EH. A make sales rep from Gengras called to tell me that the car was still in Fairfield. I explained that I was upset having waited 5 days to see the car and because I had a 2 PM appointment and no one from Gengras had the courtesy to tell me that Gengras failed to deliver the car as promised. The Gengras sales person said that he would look into it and get back to me. He called back a short time later and advised that the car was under deposit in Fairfield. I asked him how that was possible when I had been waiting five days for the car to be transported to EH for my test drive and likely purchase. He essentially told me that it was my fault because I did not leave a deposit to secure the Audi. At no time did any of the Gengras representatives who responded to my initial inquiry via email, text, and telephone advise me that I needed to leave a deposit to secure the car's transport to EH. In fact, none of them mentioned anything about a deposit. After chastising me for not leaving a deposit, the Gengras representative then attempted to sell me three other cars that Gengras has for sale. I advised the representative of the safety features that I was looking for in a car and that my price point was comparable to the price of the Audi. He then criticized my "laundry list "of options and told me that would be difficult to find at my price point. I explained to him that that was precisely why I called Gengras the previous Thursday with the intention of purchasing the Audi - because it had the safety features that I was seeking, reasonably low miles, and was in line with my price point. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated to not only have lost out on the purchase of the Audi but I also missed out on purchasing cars from other entities that I did not pursue because Gengras representatives falsely led me to believe that Gengras would transport the Audi to EH for my test drive and purchase. I'm not sure if this was an intentional bait and switch, but it certainly felt like one to me. Every car that the salesman suggested as an option for me was more expensive than the Audi that I intended to purchase, has higher miles and/or lacked the safety features that I am seeking. At this point, I am not even sure if the Audi was ever actually available or was simply intended to lure in buyers like me to induce us to purchase other more expensive vehicles. The irony to me of this situation is that I chose a big-name car dealership rather than a Mom and Pop shop because I was concerned about deceptive sales practices.

Recently just bought a new Volvo from this dealership, it was a seamless and stress-free experience. We worked with Vecdet who is the most patient, knowledgeable, down to earth guy. He never made us feel rushed or pressured in any way. I would buy a car from him any day. Dillon and the team made us feel welcomed as well & never did the experience feel like it was just a money transaction. They accommodated us on short notice multiple times & even brought our new car in from New Hampshire last minute. Wonderful group to work with!

I went to test drive a vehicle I was interested in and Rob was my sales person and he’s a great people person made me feel more at ease. He answered my questions, was very helpful in showing me some of the features inside the vehicle and how they works. He helped me get everything prepared and ready so I was able to take my vehicle the same day. The whole team in there are nice.

I worked with Rob Horton to purchase my 2020 Lexus 250h. Rob was transparent about everything and was a pleasure to work with. He handled things efficiently and communicated efficiently and effectively to assist. Within 1 week I was able to pick up the new to me Lexus and drive off the lot. The experience was painless and I’d high recommend Rob as a salesman for any one looking for a new/used car from this lot.

Thank you so much to Rob Horton and rest of the staff at Gengras Volvo of East Hartford! We recently bought a used car and the experience was great, from start to finish. All of the staff were so accommodating, as we brought our 2 big dogs with us to see how they would fit in the car. Thankfully, the car we saw was perfect for us and Rob/staff were great about communicating with us as we prepared for the purchase- including the trade-in for our old car with Dylan, the purchase process with Erica their business manager and tech support with Ethan, who showed us all the new features of the new car.

Transmission went bad on my car so my wife and I embarked on a journey for a new car. With a history of over a decade going local shop to local shop and having bad luck with cheap cars, it was time to invest in something worthwhile. From the moment we got to Gengras, Rob provided exceptional service going beyond just the common salesman pitches to make the process seamless and had our faith throughout the entire transaction. He passed us along to Erica, who was understanding and fought hard to get us the best financing package. We were recommended this location from a friend, and I will be sure to pass along the high praise to any potential customers in the future.

Buying a car can be so stressful. I looked at multiple other dealerships and none of them came close to the care and professionalism exhibited by the staff at Gengras Volvo. They are super knowledgeable and not pushy at all. Our salesperson, William, was absolutely wonderful. If you are looking for a car, I highly recommend Gengras Volvo. Thank you William!

There are few things I regret as much as having bought a car from my Fairweather Friends at Gengras Volvo in East Hartford. I bought a used Volvo XC90 from them and as soon as I took possession of the car I started realizing that this car had multiple issues, some of which I had asked about when testing the car but was assured those things were normal for that car by the salesman. The salesman also promised that one glaring body issue would be fixed, they hacked it together and it failed soon after. They agreed to fix one of the issues but never called back as promised. When I called and left their manager a message he didn't call back. I tried again after making an appointment with my mechanic to deal with said issue and they promised to fix, but the manager never called back as he said he would. When I complained about their failed body issue fix they chose not to even respond.It may have been naive of me but I went in there believing that the official dealer of a luxury car such as Volvo would not dump a car such as this on a consumer but auction it. I also know that any dealer with an ounce of integrity would have dealt with issues that surface right after the car is sold with full seriousness. This is the kind of reaction I would expect from a back road bottom feeder of a dealer, not the official dealer of a luxury vehicle.I will never do business with any dealership of the Gengras family again. And, Chris James general manager. Don't bother leaving a response here, I will not call you. You have my contact information and if you are serious about fixing these issues I would welcome a call from you to go over this and I will amend my review if there's a satisfactory remedy to be found.

By far the best experience I had while car shopping. I met with Rob and he was great. I test drove an xc40 and xc60. Rob went above and beyond and was very informative during the entire process. He had excellent communication. The entire staff I met with including Rob, Allen, Dylan and Erica went above and beyond. I’m very happy with my new XC60!

Called on behalf of a buyer of a new XC60 to help manage challenging schedules between the three parties involved: buyer, dealer and their 3rd party. Direct sales person was accommodating and helpful but wasn't able to meet customer needs. Spoke with Dylan the Sales Manager who told me he 'was too busy' and didn't want to become the 4th party in the conversation. Understandable but certainly not professional or delivering on a good customer experience. Wound up cancelling the +$2k 3rd party service. Auto sales are rising but still well below pre-pandemic levels. Wish my business was as busy as Dylan's so I could treat customers like this! Not to mention most of that $2k 3rd party service would go to the 3rd party local shop not to Gengras....

Best experience I have ever had with a dealership. Brian Dugan and the whole team were knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted. Each person working with us was kind and took care of my entire family. Wonderful customer experience and love my new XC90 Recharge. Highly recommend!

Purchased a 2020 CPO XC60 Volvo Inscription and I could not be more pleased with the entire experience. It started with the GM Chris James coming over to great us and then introducing the sales executive William Damberg. Bill was extremely knowledgeable and professional as he walked us through all the features the vehicle had. He answered all of our questions and after spending a fair amount of time, we decided to purchase the vehicle. I got what I was looking for on my trade- in which sealed the deal. There was never any sale's pressure to purchase a vehicle and the entire staff was very accommodating and kind. Gengras Volvo went above and beyond. Read below:Brian Dugan at Gengras Volvo not only impressed my hard to please husband but also went above and beyond to appease all of our demands. We are not easy customers. Brian knew what we were looking for and gave us first right of refusal on an off lease car that was being traded in. He made us feel that we were more important than what his sales manager wanted us to actually know! It was a longer process than we were used to but it paid off because they fixed everything we noticed we didnt like about the car.Alyssa spent over an hour with us teaching us how to get the most out of our driving experience and gave us extra year incentives for all the electronics inside.Erica 'the finance lady' as we call her was hysterical and had us laughing the entire time we were signing our loans. She was personable, didn't oversell us on nonsense programs and gave me food when I was hungry.We brought our dog and our child almost every trip to their dealer and they all loved both of their visits. And even requested our dog for the final one to have some final pats with her.Everyone we encountered in our experience so far as Gengras has been beyond amazing and friendly.
