Clearly just going through the motions now. Only open two days a week, and sometimes only one - it appears to change based on a whim. Limited paint lines - an enamel line which is out of business and Tamiya which is very limited. Very few water based acrylics or lacquers that people are actually using. If they didn’t carry Eduard models I’d have no reason to go at all.

My son and I were in the Hartford area from NYC and stopped in at Craftec Hobbies on Saturday 7/27/24. They have really interesting vintage kits at great prices and the manager (sorry, forgot to catch your name!) was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and even willing to negotiate a bit on some kit prices. We ended up picking up three nice kits and he loaned us a tool we needed too! If you are interested in model kits, you need to make the trip to Craftec!!!

Great little hobby shop. Huge selection of kits of all subjects. Scott, an avid modeler himself, really knows his stuff and is ready to answer any questions. Overall, a very satisfying shopping experience.

Nice. A real hobby store with only scale model stuff. No rc. No toys. Just scale model stuff and plenty of it. Owner is very knowledgeable.

Was in the parking lot after my daughter was done at a baking class next door talking with our friends and the owner decided to come out and yell because we were standing near his car. Used profanity around the kids. Great look for a hobby shop to be using profanity around children. Don’t go here. Drive to Amatos in Middletown or New Britain and not support this twit.

I have been going to Craftec for the past 10 years or so. Sadly the owner passed away in April and due to being busy I had not been out to the store since then. I went out today as an excuse to get out of the house. The gentleman behind the counter and I use that term incredibly loosely was reprehensible. After making my purchase I made some small talk and found myself on the other end of an appalling polemic. He proceeded to belittle women in the workplace and specifically in management and made very disparaging comments about African American families. I won't repeat what was said but as a human being I was appalled at his views of black families in our society and as the father of a 5 year old girl I was appalled at his attitude toward women. I will no longer do business with Craftec Discount Hobbies and I felt like I needed to share my experience so others would know the quality of the man behind the counter. I nodded until I could break out of the conversation politely and left but I regret not telling him how I felt. I didn't want to cause an argument with someone who wouldn't understand why i was upset.

I’ve been coming here, since before they moved from their old location in Enfield, which must have been over thirty years ago. I love this store! They have so many great items for plastic modelers! There are not many places like this, around these days, and this place is truly a step back in time, in a totally good way! Even if you can find a big box craft store that still caries models, I guarantee they won’t have anything remotely close to the selection that this store has! Definitely worth a visit!
