About Powder Mill Barn
The historic Powder Mill Barn in Hazardville (Enfield, CT), is a favorite rental hall for weddings, showers, birthday parties, receptions, meetings, auctions, dog obedience classes, Contra dancing and Square Dancing. Conveniently located close to I-91, about 8 miles from Springfield, MA, and 17 miles from Hartford, CT, it is available to rent for special events as well as welcoming visitors to its regularly scheduled activities. Built in 1845, it was the horse barn of the Hazard Powder Co. which supplied 40% of all the gunpowder used during the Civil War. Converted by the Sweet family for Square Dancing in 1959, it has undergone several more restorations in the last few years, making it a popular wedding venue.

What a beautiful venue! Tastefully decorated. Along with our guests, we had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter’s birthday. EVERYTHING was right there for our convenience. Polly was extremely accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend having events at the Powder Mill Barn!
