Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park is a beautiful state park in Connecticut with a beautiful view of New London. It is a pocket park full of history, especially from the Revolutionary War, with the fort's earthworks and a memorial obelisk. The tiny museum is full of exhibits but is only open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The park is dog friendly and provides poop bags. It has clean toilets and a few picnic tables, though it is noted as not a good place to picnic and has no playground. It is a must-see for history enthusiasts and is also delightful for nature.
Easy to walk. The phone audio tour was easy to use and very informative. It was so cool to see a piece of history that you can explore and have a personal experience to tie to the events that happened there that shaped our nation. My boys will not easily forget the cost of freedom.
