There are times and places where, and when, immediate, deferential, service probably should be expected. But a very old fashioned specialty business run by a guy who is, admittedly, a "bit of a character" is simply not one of those places. So what is good? Well, he does excellent work at 20th century prices (please remember, we're almost 1/4 of the way through the 21st century!). Now, if you require being treated like you're God's gift to a business' owner; this for sure isn't your place. But if you want to accept that some shops in Guilford are still idiosyncratic in the way some little shops (and restaurants, and gas stations, and...) sometimes were back in the day: be amused, be patient, and eventually be pleased with work done well at throwback prices.

I stopped by during business hours many times, and it's always closed. I give up; I'll just have my watch battery replaced somewhere else.

The owner needs to change his website to his correct hours. When he is suppose to be open. He never is. Very frustrating to drive all the way over to find a closed sign in the window.

On 3rd visit, I found store open, but owner bemoaning fact that he had 70+ watch repairs to do ahead of mine. I was surprised & delighted when he offered to replace my watch battery right away if he could find the appropriate, Tiffany, battery, which he did, & put it in for $25.Unfortunately, watch stopped within a few hours. I wrote him note to that effect, since he’s often too busy to answer phone, and said I trusted he would make good on the problem, for I had received no receipt. He left me phone message that night saying my note was confusing and almost laughable, for why did I assume battery was at fault? Said he regularly works on Tiffany watches, and he charges a fraction of what T does, etc., etc.I could have returned to seek some satisfaction, but I think I’d lose, & I don’t need the aggravation.

this is a craftsman, in a dying craft trade, overwhelmed by requests--because no one else can do what he does. Rich just went through knee surgery and covid. i am sometimes a curmudgeon in my galleries and who has time to return petty calls? We are so very lucky to have Rich available to us, and his shop is a delight, so have patience and look around. Am sending him a watch and don't expect it back for a couple of months, that is just the way it is. And count your blessings he is there.

Owner never answers his phone and the shop never seems to be open. Finally got ahold of him and he was very rude. Not worth the drive.

Changed two watch batteries for me this afternoon in under 10 minutes. Very fast and affordable. Competitive jewelers charge two to three times the price.

Dropped off our clock for repair over 8 weeks ago, no calls, unable to leave a voicemail, we have stopped by the shop during bussiness hours & found it closed more than 15 times. At this point a Police report will be necessary to get our property returned. Disappointed.
