8/25 UPDATE: Dollar General fired all the people at this store. Very sad as they all worked very well together & had GREAT customer service. I no longer shop at ANY Dollar General because of this & also because they treat their employees with such disrespect. They only have 1 person working in the stores most of the time & this is very unsafe for the employee. When I went back to this Dollar General the new employees were loudly complaining about the previous employees that worked there & their corporate office. I called their corporate office to discuss their company policies & never got a call back. Not a surprise.

I won’t even shop anywhere else but THIS Dollar General in Haddam CT. I am not a fan of this chain as I have been in many & they are way understaffed, the store is a mess, the aisles are full of hazards with stock scattered in the way, & the staff make it seem like a customer is a nuisance. THIS DG is neat, clean, & cared for. The staff ALL are polite, helpful, & respectful. I actually look forward to going in there BECAUSE of the staff. They never fail to smile as they say hi when I walk in, chitchat about funny things, & help me find what I need. They never forget to say thank you & they always mean it. They go above & beyond as if it’s normal! We all know how rare that is! I hope they are rewarded for all they have done to make me a loyal customer! Thank you!!

Inventory everywhere staff everywhere. No, one there to help you waited 20 minutes because their computers were down. And not even a hello, I'll be with you. Soon worst location, ever.

Great store.People expect to much from a store of convenience.if you need something they try to help you.if you need something don't wait until 15 minutes before closing.plain and simple

What time does this place close? Friday night was closed at 9:45. Really inconvenient, your customers depend on this chain being open until their posted closing time since it's the only place for 20 miles. So tell me what time do you close???????????

I tried to shop at 9:40 PM on a Friday and the doors were locked. It's suppose to be open until 10pm but I don't know what happened. The hours on the front door are also cut out ✂️

Sheldon was an awesome cashier, dollar general staff here seems nice and knowledgeable compared to other locations. Will return soon even though it's a drive

You must watch your receipts or the prices on the register!! Multiple times I have gotten home to realize I paid more than what was advertised. Sometimes only 25 cents but also several dollars a time or two. Staff is nice but sometimes obnoxious and loud with each other. I think they're trying to be funny.

Walked into the store to get cigarettes found no one at the register but heard 2 employees complaining about a previous customer who did not speak English well. I was ignored during this conversation until the other person said to Jessica that there was someone in the store. She was exceptionally rude. She proceeded to tell me she didn't have my brand of cigarettes even though I was looking at them behind her. After her rude behavior I chose to go to the gas station down the street for my needs. Later I called to speak with a manager. Jessica answered the phone once again very rude and refused to allow me to speak with a manager. I will not be back additionally as a person of color I felt very violated. Will not be back contacting the ACLU so they can further look into this matter. Shame. This store should be closed to make way for a company that will better serve the community.

Two employees were screaming and yelling and physically ramming into things. I did not feel safe and left as did another female customer. A male customer was becoming agitated and seemed ready to get involved

I stopped by the East Haddam store today and was shocked to hear the employees yelling and swearing at each other. You could hear every word all over the store. It was awful. Yelling about how much work they do, they work their $%* off, etc. I walked out. There’s no way I feel safe in such a hostile environment. With every newscast we are bombarded with violence and hatred and to walk in to a small town store to hear them yelling at each other is uncalled for. Employee issues should be discussed in the office out of earshot of paying customers. Unbelievable! I won’t be going there again. Too bad, because it’s very convenient. So unprofessional, and very scary given today’s situation.
