I am an early educator with over a decade of experience working with children, half of that time as a teacher at a non-profit, nature-based, NAYEC accredited preschool in Maine. Having just moved to Connecticut and being in need of both a job and childcare for my son, I was excited to find a NAEYC accredited center in Hamden, as I'm fully aware that NAEYC standards are more meticulous, which is great! Lower ratios, higher quality curriculum, etc.HOWEVER...Driving up to the center for my interview, my heart sank. The outside space is reminiscent of a prison- chain link fencing with overgrown weeds- enclosing a sad excuse for a playground. Just cement slabs strewn with tyke toys and bored children.Walking towards the door I told myself, "Hey, it's what you make of it, right? Let's just do this."UNSAFE...Despite having a keypad entry system, a woman let me in without asking my name or my reason for visiting. She neither introduced herself nor looked at me. The director then came out, ignored me and started getting into an altercation with a parent who was picking up their child.UNPROFESSIONAL...The director then told me to wait in tho office (still not even shaking my hand or introducing herself) and then left to go trash talk the aforementioned parent with another employee, leaving me waiting awkwardly just a few feet away.LOOK ELSEWHERE...At this point I knew, I would not, under any circumstances give this place a moment more of my time.I walked out and told the director that I was extremely unimpressed and did not want an interview. All the director said was, "okay" and I walked away, dumbfounded at what I just experienced.I have never seen such a lack of professionalism, discretion or tact from a director, before. This facility is a POOR EXCUSE for a NAEYC accredited school. If you are thinking of sending your child here or applying for a job, a strongly suggest you look elsewhere. So, so sad.

My son has really improved his verbal skills here and some teachers have been wonderful so I cannot give them too low of a rating. They were the only place we could find openings when we moved to the area. That said, management is extremely disorganized and I often hear them speaking poorly about their own staff on my quick times in and out. My son is constantly shuffled from room to room and recently they stopped even sending pictures of him or giving me any updates in their app which is one of the things they really sell you on upfront. In less then a year I have seen turnover of most of the 2s teachers, the retention is low and I think that’s really a negative for the kids. For the price I’d recommend finding another option for your child if you are able.

I have been a Kindercare parent for a couple of years now, I have had great experiences with the teachers there and they have had a great impact on my children. I do believe that understanding and grace is a key part of building any relationship. The staff was very patient with my daughter and offered a lot of advice when we hit rough patches and they are also very flexible.I would also like to say that I have seen a great change to the facility with upgrades to the toys and cleanliness.I look forward to see the continued efforts concerning changes and upgrades...

Both our boys attended. Teachers are caring and welcoming. Management will always make time to discuss concerns and answer questions. They have assisted us with different accommodations our boys need. They provide food and formula for the day which makes mornings easier. Over all a great experience.

I don't recommend this Daycare at all incredibly inept staff and management, some staff not all we're not up to the standard me and my wife are accustomed to. I was appalled at the lack of training and professionalism displayed by some staff and management. I immediately removed my child from this facility as soon as we noticed the marked deficit in care and competence that we had grown accustomed to from our previous childcare provider.

Ms. Kelly is awesome with my son. The center has pros and cons. The pros are the teachers and some of the teachers aides are really good and are open until 630. The cons are they are too expensive, the front desk is unprofessional and they make inappropriate comments.

I had a bad experience. My daughter was in kinder care. The staff in Kindercare had poor service and no patience, especially the two who worked at the front desk. The hygiene in it was poor. The toys played by children were old and dirty, and they were not cleaned.

An employee promised us a spot, we spent two weeks trying to figure out how to put down a deposit, and by the time the manager was aware that we were trying to get a spot she told us they were all full. They made no attempt to rectify the situation. For $400/week do you really want to send your child to a place with such poor internal communication and organization?

My child has been going to this Kindercare location since June 2019 and our overall experience is more than positive. The staff at Kindercare Mt. Carmel are amazing along with the current directors in place. Reflecting their curriculum on the needs for children to meet developmental milestones, they also offer amazing activities and fun projects to connect with other parents and students which i appreciate since most face-to-face interactions have been kept to bare minimum given COVID-19 restrictions. The pandemic has brought many trials and uncertainty, but I have never for once worried about my child’s health and safety at KinderCare Mt. Carmel because they are very diligent on the safety of staff, parents and students there. I truly appreciate all the work that is being done to make sure our children still have a somewhat normal learning environment. Continue the great work.

My child has been attending this day care for over a year now and I couldn't be more pleased with the staff. When expressed, my concerns are addressed immediately. It's evident my child is learning new skills everyday. There's open communication between the staff and guardians throughout the entire day, from 6:30am - 6:00pm. I couldn't be more satisfied with the Kindercare in Hamden. More importantly, my toddler has expressed his affection and trust for his teacher. A child's response to a childcare facility is most crucial and should be taken in high regard. Keep up the good work Roxann, Nicolle and Kelly!

I am so happy my daughter goes to this school .. Roxann by far is the best ever! If I ever I have a concern she makes sure she resolves it and I completely trust this school. My daughter is so happy here she loves the teachers and feels so loved!

Very bad communication, was given a start date and on that date I was still confused because my application was pending. I called the morning of to ask questions and was told I can still pay for the registration. When I arrived I was told that my start date wasn’t until the next week and I was called and left voicemails which was not true. Pure confusion and a complete waste of time.

This daycare has staff that's not vaccinated.. I think that's awful. It should be mandatory... Not going to use this facility!!!

I showed up to my scheduled appointment to tour facility. The staff there yelled at me as if I made a mistake for being there at my scheduled time. I can imagine what she is like with the kids. No thank you. I will not be considering that location.
