Saint Francis Hospital has been an anchor institution in Connecticut since 1897. It is a member of Trinity Health Of New England and Trinity Health, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation. Saint Francis Hospital is a 617-bed hospital and a major teaching hospital, as well as the largest Catholic hospital in New England. The hospital offers various specialized centers, including the Comprehensive Women's Health Center, the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute, the Curtis D. Robinson Center for Health Equity, the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute of Connecticut, and the Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale-New Haven at Saint Francis. Patients consistently praise the hospital's caring, friendly, and professional staff, who provide efficient, reliable, and patient-focused care. The facilities are described as clean, modern, safe, and comfortable, with attentive doctors and nurses, a helpful and knowledgeable team, and a supportive environment. The hospital is praised for its quick service, smooth check-in, thorough checkups, accessible location, and well-organized and well-equipped operations. However, there have been some concerns raised about the experience in the west wing of the emergency room, where patients have reported long wait times and issues with communication and cleanliness. The hospital is encouraged to address these concerns promptly to maintain its overall excellent reputation for compassionate, skilled, and reliable healthcare services.
