Big Y Food Service is a local grocery store known for its clean, well-stocked layout and friendly staff. Customers feel comfortable shopping there, often mentioning the store's ease of navigation and accessible employees. The store offers inexpensive yet tasty food options, including large pizzas and grinders, making it a popular spot for budget-friendly meals. The prices are slightly higher than some competitors like Stop and Shop, but the quality of cooked fish items, such as fish and chips, is highly praised. The prepared food department provides a variety of options, including salads, hot meals, and ready-to-cook items, with some customers enjoying dishes like chicken salad and bang bang cod fillet. However, there are occasional concerns about staff behavior, with reports of rudeness from some employees, though management responsiveness, especially from the store manager, has been appreciated. Some customers have experienced issues with certain shoppers, particularly during lunchtime, involving inappropriate behavior from non-neighborhood visitors, which management has addressed. Overall, Big Y Food Service is a convenient, clean, and affordable grocery store that offers a variety of food options and attentive customer service, making it a preferred neighborhood spot for many shoppers.
