MANCHESTER CONNECTICUTIf i could give this company a negative 100 I would. BEWARE OF THIS SKETCHY COMPANY. IVE BEEN THERE SINCE BEFORE THEY BOUGHT OUT THE OLD PLACE. They jack up rates every month. In One year they have gone up 150.00 on my 2 units. They jack it up about 10.00 a month. Legally they cannot go up more than 20%. My 10x10 originally was 58.00 than when they took over it went to about 90 than 100. I'm now paying about 220 a month! 300 for both units! There isn't any staff at the facility. The place is filthy. No one cleans the hallways. There are birds flying around inside. One dead one in my unit. There's only chicken fencing on top of the units. If you call and complain management does not call back. And they jack up your rates. I and several others have sent in complaints to the better business bureau dept if consumer protection and attorney generals office. I contacted the Health dep. They have locked yp the bathroom. The place is not handicapped accessible. They say they are temp controlled units. They arnt. It's freezing in the winter ove 140 degrees in the summer. Birds nests everywhere. A homeless guy is living in a unit and there are mice. So many empty units now. They are ripoff thieves. If they are a corporate company the shoukd have staff there. Read the BBB COMPLAINTS. CALL THE STATE ATTORNEY THE HEALTH DEPT. The more the complaints we can do a class action lawsuit get a auditor to look at what they are charging.. perhaps than corporate or management will take our calls. Typical corporate. I hope there business goes down. Otter you suck. Go suck on a piece of wood.

This place was great until new owners showed up. Now they are jacking up the prices, and trying to force you to pay for their insurance. Of course all of this is happening when it is really difficult to get in contact with their customer support

DO NOT RENT HERE !!! MANAGER CALLED ME THE N WORDUpon move in day when I went to use the gate code it did not work, I called the so called 24/7 hotline which ultimately lead to multiple dead ends. I was left stranded with all of my things and had to move them back into my apartment. When I called the following day I spoke to someone who claimed to be the manager that went by Mike. Once I told Mike my issue and asked if we can fix the lease being that I didn’t get to move in on the day that I was supposed to and lost the money that I paid the movers. Mike became angry and repeatedly called me the N word on the phone and hung up on me multiple times.

BEST PRICES! I was using CubeSmart before I moved to Otter. My bill was over double. Also Otter offered the first 3 months are at half price.I got the same size unit but better, Otter is climate controlled too.Lastly I live a few blocks away.

WARNING: For those looking to secure a storage unit in the Manchester, CT area, we would advise not using Otter Storage on Elm Street in Manchester. Among the issues we have encountered are:- Rental units are marketed and charged as one size and then are significantly smaller once you arrive. Example: We secured a 10' x 10' unit that actually measured as 8.5' x 7.5' which is 36.25 sqft smaller. They would not adjust the monthly rate accordingly. Sizes are approximate, not actual.- There is no one on-site to address move-in day concerns- They suspended our access to all our units while processing our new lease and never reinstated it until we called and complained.- The lease agreement does not reflect the actual terms. Ex.: No lock purchased, discounts applied, administration fee waived- They no longer provide multi-unit discounts.

Stay away from this slumlord at all costs, zero stars…Ever since Otter bought the self storage complex in Manchester Connecticut 9 months ago where I have been a customer for 10 years it’s been a disaster.Courtesy dollies and handtrucks have have been replaced by garbage, broken glass and graffiti. I’m seeing the same broken glass and trash that’s been sitting there for over 6 months…Personal belongings litter narrow corridors posing a fire egress hazard.This is supposed to be a climate controlled storage facility but the HVAC systems have not been working in the facility for over a month. Yesterday it was 85F in the building.This evening I rolled up on the facility and the front doors were wide open without anyone around - I stuck around for a half hour and nobody showed up. Real secure…Three attempts to contact management by phone consumed over a half hour of my time on hold each time only to be listened too by “David” who has done NOTHING to address the issues at this facility since my first complaints in March of 22, and most recently this evening refused to provide me with a manager or owners name or contact. Pictures of conditions sent to management over the last 6 months and voicemails asking for a return call were only addressed by increases in my storage fees, of which there have been no less than three in the last 9 months.

Don't even waste your time and looking at this place if I could give it 0 stars or better yet -10 stars I would I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't one of the hundreds of customers that has gotten a storage unit and gotten rid of it within 2minutes of walking in the building..I I can't really blame the call center for not knowing what units they have available or even if it's clean or if people are still renting it because it could be upper management and their lack of better updated system. But after renting I was told by the agent that they did not know if the building had a lift an elevator I would have to go there to find out I asked if they had a different unit available that was going to be closer towards the door since as they didn't know they said out after goalie are definedad I'll have to go there to find out I got there the building is 100% not climate control so they're charging people for A climate control facility and cant even provide it they don't know that the unit that they rented to me and I paid for was being used still by someone and then told me I can wait 2-3 days for someone to go and clean that unit out. I won't even finish the rest of the bad experience store just trust me don't use them same your time and energy if you can pay a extra $50 somewhere else do it

I have used Cheney Self Storage for many years- the storage unit public space was always swept and clean, the premises were junk/ clutter free and the prices were consistent. The owners were on site and took pride in their facility and offered unparalleled customer service.Since Otter Storage has purchased the business they have raised the rent twice in just five months! No one works on the premises. There is ALWAYS furniture near the two rear entrances to the storage unit load/ unload areas, and dirt and debris all over the floor. I was issued a 30 day notice of the second rent increase, and I will be leaving- they state it is due to property taxes and utility costs- seriously? I will be moving out. Again, I have been a longtime customer, have sent many friends as referrals in the past, and I will not and do not recommend renting from them.

Edit: this was all handled and fixed just after it all I don’t feel like I can give a better rating. Went from 1 star to 3 star.Got told I would have two late fees waived then , the waived the fees but had processing my card. I have the failed attempt charge even shorted them they re-added the fees after 3 people said they would be waived Dalton says they are the property managerSays last person that I spoke is a liar about the two fees along with other two people that they don’t wave fees Demetrius states the same thing. They told me they inventoried the storage unit and were going to sell it and that I was locked out but when arriving my unit was not locked.I will say however that Sally was fantastic on the phone and informed that the no late fees was initiated today, she was much more informed and actually read the notes on my account saw where they had taken them off and put them back on with my account saying I wouldn’t be charged them if I made the payment today. Since the account does state that I do feel I should be refunded that 40 dollars.
