Not like the days of old since the New Britian store closed - Was looking for diecast cars - None to be found here anymore. Not worth the time to drive all the way down from MA to find out that they no longer sell diecasts cars, trucks, planes etc.

Amazing toy store. Very fun bringing my daughter here to see all of the toys, stuffed animals, and books. Old school store, reminds me of the big NYC stores.

Amato’s Toy and Hobby is a great, old school, toy store. Once upon a time, we had an Amato’s in New Britain, but that one eventually closed and was torn down. For this reason, I appreciate this store that much more.Besides toys, it is a hobby store too, so if you’re into trains or perhaps models, you are bound to find something that you like here.Parking is available on the street and there are meters, so you may want to bring some change. During the holidays, they get super busy and parking could get tricky as it did for me yesterday. That is when I discovered that there is a parking lot behind it that is accessible from Washington Street. Behind that is a public parking lot with meters (you’re still going to want to bring change) that is accessible the same way. Both of the parking lots will give you access to the rear entrance of the store. The staff here is both friendly and helpful. This place is definitely worth a look…

Wow, what a toy store. It's much larger inside than it looks. There is truly something for kids ( grown ups too) of all ages. From books to a huge train and RC selection and everything in between. We recently picked up items for our granddaughter and plan on taking her back in person. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful. You don't need to be a kid or have kids to enjoy going and it's a great way to support a local, family owned business.

Still charging $29.99 for the same Barbie sets you can get at Target, Walmart, and Amazon for $11.99. Only reason I go is for the Toy Store experience for my daughter, so she feels like it's a store just for her and other kids, but this markup, she could have more elsewhere, just keep that in when shopping here.

If I could give a rating higher than 5 stars, I definitely would!. This store is fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful finding the perfect gifts for my 2 year old granddaughter. I was not feeling well when I went to the store due to having some minor surgery the day before. They went above and beyond with checking me out and even offering to carry my packages to my car. I cannot say enough great things about this store. I will never go anywhere else to buy toys, books, etc. for my grandchildren!
