“Good quality products at reasonable prices. However, availability is inconsistent for some popular items like lettuce, milk, eggs, bread, ground beef, bananas, TP, etc. We have therefore nicknamed it "Soviet Aldi".”
“We stopped in yesterday for the first time. We needed a couple of plants and we were really impressed. They have a lot of plants and flowers and a nice variety. Everything is so healthy!! The plants are well organized so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. Vivian helped us find the right plants for the conditions that they will be in. Besides plants and flowers they have both bulk and bagged mulch. They also have a farm stand. It’s easy to get to and plenty of parking. Will definitely be back.”
“I had a wonderful time here! Not many places have chestnuts, and it was the perfect time to pick them. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful, guiding us and allowing us to take great photos. They also offer a variety of apples, squash, tomatoes, and more. I highly recommend it—10/10!”
“Stopped in on a whim and really glad I did! The man working was so friendly and helpful. I didn't even notice it but he saw that the quality of the sauerkraut I picked out wasn't the best and went right into the cooler and got me a brand new bag. The prices for everything seemed really fair and I was able to pick up some veg that you don't normally see outside if a Wholefoods.”
“Fabulous assortment of gift ideas.Wonderful customer service. Jan called to go over my order so it would be correct. Absolutely beautiful chocolate strawberries.”
“It was my first time there and I had a very pleasant experience. The staff was kind and did their best to help diverse customers. They have a wide variety and unique selection of goods. It was a cute, decorative, organized place. Killam & Bassette also gives opportunities to college students to aid their learning, which I saw firsthand. I wish I knew about it sooner because it was a great place to go, even just to look around. I would recommend it to anyone in Connecticut :)”
“Love the prices here, love that the Aldi brand items don’t have harmful additives. AND the section where they have the limited finds is definitely fun to look through.”
“Tragedy - expensive, my sick daughter bought me two soups - Ukrainian borscht and krupbik in the borscht, only vinegar in the kruonik, chemical maggi, it just made my head spin, pagan, who taught these women how to cook, it's not the kitchen, it's poison”
“Join their CSA this year. So far so good. They allow for customization of boxes, which is in theory. Really nice, but so far everything that I've wanted to swap for has been not available. And the stuff in the farm store is kind of expensive, and one of the workers was carrying around a baby chick, which is adorable and I thought was really cute when I was there, but then on my drive home I was like and she's got this live animal around all of this fresh produce and things that are meant to be consumed without cooking them again, I think maybe it's not a good idea.”
“So after countless times of wanting to stop by this place, I finally went in for a quick stop. I was pleased to say that they actually do have a great selection and amazing prices. Definitely come here if you’re looking to save some money with some good items my new fave place.”
“A huge piece of property, very well maintained. We had cider doughnuts and apple cider.
The cider is the best I've tried this year. And I've had 9 different ciders from farms that press it only, with one exception b.f. Clyde's.
Worth the trip for their champagne of apples..”
“Great little farmstand with friendly staff. My family has been shopping here for ages and I can't think of a single negative experience. Love the baked goods and the wide variety of goods to browse through.”
“Their fruit could be better...alot of times when im looking for bananas or strawberries the bananas are really bruised and a few times the strawberries are next to impossible to find not moldy ones...on the bright side its not typically overly packed. They always are organized and 9/10 havr everything im looking for. The staff is amazing and super kind and helpful as well. Tuesdays are my favorite days to go to this specific aldi”
“I drink the cider every day in the fall months. It is simply amazing. Pure apple flavor, and you can feel the difference. If Lyman Orchard cider isn't in my fridge, it feels like something is missing.”
“Always stop to get grinder at Veggie World before our trip to Foxwoods , the grinders are always filled with meat , usually can only eat half the grinder not to much bread just right . The staff there are always friendly . Whenever I go I'm happy , very reasonable the market has plenty of other goodies also . My favorite grinder shop in Connecticut .”
“Don’t know how else to find this out. If you’ve been apple picking at Lyman in the past week, are the apples good? Are they too small or more full size? We usually go as a family every year in mid to end of October, but want to go this weekend.”
“Love this local stand with fresh food and flowers! The friendly staff always point out new and tasty treats the farm has to offer. Just attended their wreath making class as well it was well done and my family loved out wreaths!”
