I was stranded on the highway and ended up staying here for the night. Is this the Ritz? No. But it's clean, everything works, I felt safe. The guy at the front desk was quick. The price was great (book directly with the hotel, it'll be cheaper than through one of those booking sites). For a shelter in a storm, this place is perfect

I am revisiting this review because it seems that the Wesleyan has done some remodeling. The rooms look very nice. They did a great job now we’re not talking about you know Hilton luxurious. We are talking budget motel nice. I have stayed there for a couple of days because of my family being in town. The TVs or Samsung, they are flat screen and a good size for the room. I still think they use the same old bedspread because the bedspread still look like they’re from 1959, but the dressers and all the other furniture has been updated very nicely, I must say. We Can sometimes forget where we are with the furnishings of the room. Then everything comes back down into perspective as you watch a roach walk the cross the desk table. If you guys fix that bug problem, I will most definitely give you four stars!

Great value. Clean and exactly what I needed to refresh and hit the road. Front desk staff went out of their way to accommodate needs. Greatly appreciated and will always prioritize staying in solid owned motels such as this. You can’t beat this price in this area and sleep comfortably.

Have you ever wanted to stay in a motel where you feel completely unsafe and as if you have immediately been infected with some incurable disease just by sitting on the bedspread? Then this is the place for you and it is awful. The room was awful, the service was especially awful, and the area is sketchy (think sex offenders, drug dealers/addicts, criminals running from the law, etc.). First of all, the guy at the front desk (who I assume is the owner) screamed at me and my boyfriend. Literally screamed at me and refused a refund, because we didn't actually end up staying at this place, but had moved the bedding to check for bedbugs. Even when we checked in before we had seen the room, he had an attitude and acted like he was doing us a favor. Do not try to find customer service here. As for the room: Everything was dirty. Literally everything. The mattress was depressed in the middle and had a cheetah print bedspread. The box spring had stains and marks all over it. The chair in the corner was covered in stains. The room stunk of cigarette smoke. We immediately knew we had to leave. When I told the guy that I needed a refund, he argued with me, and followed me to the room. Then he had the audacity to say we had "used the room," after being in there for literally 5 minutes. Since he was yelling, I started yelling too, and after I threatened to take pictures and put a review on Yelp, he agreed to the refund. When he issued the refund he mumbled how "people are crazy," how "no one has ever complained about the rooms before" (hard to believe), and that I should "never come back!" If you're desperate to find a place to sleep, I suggest your car in a parking lot or on the ground in the woods; you will be safer and more comfortable in either place.

Wow what a terrible first experience in Middletown. My husband and I just drove in from CO, arriving very late. We had been told they have suites that were affordable on a weekly basis, but we couldn't have one until the next day. No problem, we just need some sleep for the night. Needless to say the room was super ghetto (e.g., cigarette burn holes in the bedspread, no hot water, broken furniture), and the heat was completely off when we entered so also extremely frigid, and it took a long time to heat it up. But that's not even why I'm writing this. I'm writing this because at 10:15am someone pounds on the door. They didn't knock lightly and say, "housekeeping?" like a normal housekeeping staff would do. They were pounding! So my husband leaps out of bed and says, "who is it?" They don't respond so he opens the door. He sees its an elderly lady with a shopping cart full of cleaning supplies and he says, "we don't need cleaning, we just got here and still sleeping!" So then the lady gets angry and says it's check out time and we have to go. Then my husband says we paid for the night, it's not time to check out, we have till at least 11 or 12. Then she threatens to call the cops! He says go ahead and call, I am legally staying here. It just got worse from there. So we end up getting up, grabbing our things and leaving in a hurry. Not even a shower (though a cold shower in the winter would not have happened anyway). All the while with these guys calling on the phone, standing outside our door yelling like we are doing something wrong by giving them out money to stay in their cold s$ithole room!. They obviously have no idea about Yelp! I feel a bit badly as these people are a family from India or Pakistan or something and obviously they know nothing about how to run a good business in this country. And the family members were living in the hotel. Also very weird for business. Anyway I would steer very clear!

I honestly though I was being filmed in a 1970's slasher film haha! Seriously though, I knew ahead of time (Thanks Yelp!) that this place was a dump. I was visiting a friend and just needed a place to crash before I headed back to Virgina the next morning. The guy who works the counter is an ass. I will refrain from any racial or stereotypical hotel manager comments... He was not pleasant, to say the least. The room looked like a turd covered in glitter. There were huge lumps in the carpet where I'm sure dead hooker body parts are hidden, the wallpaper was peeling and oddly colored stains on the wall. I wasn't surprised since I read all the reviews but it was still pretty off-putting. Bottom Line: If you need a place to crash for a night or feel like throwing an all night rager... this is your place. If you like falling asleep comfortably and safely and breakfast in the morning... this is NOT the place.

We tried to stay here for a wedding and before getting a cab ride over there wanted to confirm our reservation since it was a long way. We paid for the room via hotels.com and no one picked up the phone. We didn't want to risk the place being closed and we called nonstop for hours with NO response, so we basically ended up paying for a room at a different hotel and losing money for a place we never even stayed! Two months later we are still calling daily with no response trying to get a refund. This place is horrible, and hotels.com was of NO help either because they can't get a hold of them either and they are vouching for this place? What an incredibly awful and unprofessional way to do business! STAY AWAY. Not pleased with Hotels.com either or using them again.
