So we checked in to find these faults. My main problem was no water pressure to take a shower and the water was barely hot. Also heat/ac unit in the room was old/outdated and broken. We turned it on it would just blast out max heat no matter what temperature it was at. Then it would turn off eventually and switch back on again repeatedly. We thought it was on auto but it did the same on high and low heat.

Stayed for 3 nights over a weekend, accommodations were good, staff was friendly and helpful, beds were some of the best mattresses, Wyhndam Quality, slept very well. Only issue was our room had a shower in a Huge Jacuzzi Tub, with a huge step in and out. Only need a regular shower in a motel. Better then what we expected overall, prices are good, and if you utilize reward points it's even better.

This is an older property. They recently did some upgrades and it seems they are continuing to improve the property. For the price it cannot be beat. They will clean your room daily if you request it. The rooms are extremely clean and the staff is amazing. There is plenty of parking, you can walk to Olde Mystic Village, and the Mystic Diner. The area is safe and convenient.

"It's a Room." It's affordable and close to the Mystic Diner which is a great place to eat. However, staying here is recommended if you have no other option. It's not bad, but it's not good. The room was small and felt like it hadn't seen a renovation in a very ling time, the bed was scratchy, and the pool had a stagnant look, bugs and other debris were floating around. The maid attempted to enter our room twice, even though we clearly and loudly stated we were in the room and to essentially go away. Now, I admit this could have been a one off experience, but it was just that. It was off putting enough, I'd rather pay abit more have have a better experience.

Let me explain it this way, this location is good if your goal is to not be in the hotel room or for one night stop overs. The lobby smells musty as do the rooms. We had a couch in our room that had a wild smell. And there was some kind of crumbly dust on the top of the bed sheets that looks like it probably came from the popcorn ceilings. BUT The beds were actually very comfortable and the room got cold the way we like it. Still reading? I’d say if you are a human that doesn’t mind camping this hotel can be on your list cause you can tolerate things that some travelers cannot, but if you are looking for a crisp pristine room you need to find something else.Nearby activities: Mystic village, the maritime museum

First the positive....location is outstanding. Mystic Aquarium, Olde Mystic Village and Seaport are incredibly close. The pool was good to have. Service was excellent. The kids enjoyed the jacuzzi tub.Now for the review....very dated. After staying and being spoiled in Middletown HOJO it was easy to see the potential this location can have. It just doesnt make sense to me to have this real estate right across from these points of interests and it to be so dated and neglected and not very clean. We stood for 1 night and its a good place to lay your head over night. But man the potential this place has!!!! Close for a little, renovate, rip the carpets out, fix the balcony doors, paint, update the decor, leave the jetted tubs but clean it up, update the reception area, and add complimentary coffee (I dont drink cofee but thinking of those who do) and water in the reception area, put a fence up in the side and make a little playground there, rip out the carpets on the stairs (everywhere) replace with faux tile or something easier to keep clean, the pool area isnt bad but perhaps warm water instead of cold. Front desk staff was excellent no complaints. The reception area could use an expansion. Guarantee you will make the money you put in back and then some.

The location is perfect! The hotel does need some renovations. But it was safe, clean, and the hostess Kayla was extremely helpful and courteous! We will be back.

Nightmare experience! Room reeked of chlorine upon check in. We came back to our room at the end of the night to find out we were locked out, with all of our belongings in the room. The door lock malfunctioned. Only had somewhere to sleep because someone with another reservation didn’t show up. If they showed up, we would’ve had nowhere to sleep on Labor Day Weekend! Door was pried open after 9AM the next day.Was offered no resolution on check out. Spent 2 days trying to get in touch with the manager, who said Wyndham could issue a refund. Raj only offered me points, but said he believed I was entitled to a refund. Wyndham and Raj said that each other would be responsible for a refund. My CC was charged by the hotel, so Raj was LYING to me and customer service wouldn’t do anything about it. Wyndham customer service said it was a “civil matter between you and the hotel” and said it was on me to resolve the issue with the hotel. Will never use Howard Johnson or Wyndham ever again. Locked out of a room I paid almost $300 for with all of my belongings in it and was told I could have a few points for my troubles. Hotel management lied to me to avoid issuing a refund and customer service absolved themselves of taking any action. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel.

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! I had a one night stay with a friend at this hotel. We were in town for a wedding. Upon check-in, the room reeked of an overwhelmingly strong chlorine scent. It was pretty unusual, but we got ready for the wedding and headed over to the ceremony. We came back to the hotel after the ceremony and reception to find that our key cards would not open the door. The woman at the front desk spent over an hour trying to open the door for us, but had no luck. The lock had malfunctioned. We were locked out of our room with all of our belongings in said room.At this point, it was after 2AM. The woman checked to see if there was another room for us to as least get some sleep. There was only one room that had a reservation, but the people did not show up for. Had that person shown up, we would have had nowhere to spend the night, with clothes, toiletries, personal belongings, etc. all locked in a room that we couldn't get into. The door was not opened until after 9AM the next day. This delayed our plans for the final events of the wedding celebration. The door had to be pried open. The hotel staff didn't offer me any form of compensation upon Sunday check out and said the manager would call me, but that he wasn't in that day. The next day goes by and I hear nothing. 2 days after I checked out I finally get in touch with Raj, the manager, after calling multiple times. Raj explains that he can't offer me a refund (even though the hotel directly charged my credit card) and that the best he could off me was points. If I wanted a refund, I had to reach out to Wyndham, the parent company. We paid almost $300 for a room that we couldn't stay in and had all of our belongings locked in the room, so I wanted a refund for a horrible experience. Points were completely unacceptable in this situation. I reached out to Wyndham about the situation and was told they would get back to me in a week with an answer. A week goes by and I hear nothing, so I contact Wyndham and am told that a refund can only come from the hotel directly. I relay to Wyndham what Raj said about not being able to issue a refund, they told me this was not the case. After a few more phone calls, I get in touch with Raj who once again says he can't give a refund (due to deposits, royalties, yadda, yadda) and that it has to come from Wyndham. He even says verbatim that I am entitled to a refund. He once again offers the points but says a refund can come from Wyndham if they feel it's appropriate. After calling Wyndham again, the customer service rep tells me they can't issue the refund because they are not a merchant. The hotel is and would be the one that does so. They tell me that Raj said he didn't feel a refund was appropriate and that points were enough for the horrible experience we had. I explain I just spoke with Raj and that he said he believed I was owed a refund. The rep doesn't really know what to say, so I ask him to contact Raj and explain that the hotel can issue a refund.I'm placed on hold and after a few minutes I am told the rep spoke with Raj, who said he wouldn't give a refund in this case and that nothing further could be done unless I wanted the points. The rep said that it was now a "civil matter between you and the hotel" and tried to absolve Wyndham of any responsibility because the points were a "creative solution". So Raj, the hotel manager, was LYING to me and corporate wasn't willing to do anything about the situation, telling me that it was on me to handle things.I will never, EVER be using a Howard Johnson hotel or Wyndham property again. I don't care how far out of my way I have to go. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. We couldn't even stay in a room we paid for and didn't have access to any of our belongings. The hotel management took zero responsibility for this and lied to me to avoid issuing a refund. Wyndham customer service was truly disappointing as they took no action to try and resolve this situat

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. The views were dreadful, the carpet was stained, and the bathroom was in a dilapidated state. Despite requesting a room change, the front desk informed me that the hotel was fully booked and unable to accommodate my request. I strongly advise avoiding this property unless you want to spoil your trip.Rooms: Poor condition, rusted doors.

Location was great, Mystic attractions were in a walkable distance. Room was large and there were two sinks which is very convenient. The beds were okay, but they had great pillows. The refrigerator was not really working. It was leaking something and there was a bunch of mildew in the top of it. The bathroom was okay, there was a peeling hole by the sink in the wall. One of our towels, while washed was heavily stained and one had small holes in it. Each room has a small outside area. Our sliding door was not locked when we got there and that was concerning, as we were on the ground floor. Also, there was loud construction right outside our room. There was construction material directly outside our door and a construction worker was sitting on our designated Adirondack chair. The air conditioner worked well but froze out the person sleeping next to it as there was no way to change it from blowing directly on the person. There was supposed to be a continental breakfast but the girl at the front desk said they did not do that.

Good rates, rooms where clean, beds were like laying on clouds and the a/c worked well. What more could I ask for? Oh the pool...yup, they have one. All in all? A good place to stay for a quick visit!!Nearby activities: Mystic Village is right across the way

After reading the reviews we were nervous to stay but we needed a quick night stay on our road trip. Every time I called the front desk they were pleasant and kind. Check in and check out were easy. Hotel looks newishly updated. It's a basic motel. It's not the cleanest not the nicest but it's a decent place to stay overnight. Room wasnt filthy by any means. We had a second floor room and could hear the highway and pretty much anything else. air worked well but once it was off it was silent which is why we heard everything. Lights were bright as well outside. Bed was decent. Overall it did what it needed for us. If you show your room key next door at the mystic diner you get 10% off your purchase and there's free wifi and coffee in lobby.
