I found the owners to be warm, lovely, extremely helpful, and the items in their shop are absolutely beautiful and of very high quality. I bought pillows and throws for my sofa from them and couldn't be happier with my purchases. Can't wait to go back!

The product and packaging of the product is beautiful. The customer service from Mary and Michael was very helpful and friendly.I am so pleased to give this lovely gift to my niece who is expecting her first child in August ❤️ Thank you Michael And Mary for such a pleasant and prompt shopping experience.

Local mature couple, Mystic residents, who love to support our many local businesses , we were out walking on a few days ago & saw that Linen Press was open-it often is not. Decided to go into the ( otherwise empty) store and the male owner sort of looked up no greeting, no smile..just sort of started at us. We walked about looking at a few things of interest ( noting "Do NOT TOUCH", "Ask for assistance" signs on just about every display- on a few prior visits we got clear messages workers -owners?-did not want to be bothered, however). We picked up a package of cute cocktail napkins ( $6.++) and were standing ready to pay the scowling owner. I spotted a locally themed children's book- our favorite thing to read to young relatives- and brought it over where my husband was just having the napkins rung up. For $17++!My husband,a kind and respectful man, said "wait, they were $6 something". Guy grumbled "it's just an error". Just then I handed the book to him and he said "oh, that book is marked $19.99 but it's gone up to $21something"! I was shocked and said What!? He said (like I was an idiot) EVERYTHING'S gone up in the past few years - it's 5 yrs old!" Huh? I said "you're driving people out of your store"...soooo rude!I returned the book* gently, said no thanks and we left with our overpriced napkins..never again!Stick to the other gracious & lovely stores on the street, Tulips & Peppergrass, Adore, Katherine M, etc. Support local, high quality stores that earn your patronage.*Oh, bought the book, gently used, on Amazon for $5.Happy smiley holidays to all!

I don't think this store deserves even one star. I agree with every review on here, except for the positive one. The employees, who I assume are the owners were extremely rude and I will never step foot inside their store again. We were visiting Mystic for a few days to celebrate my birthday. The store window displays are very cute, so I told my husband I'd like to look inside to find a birthday gift for myself! As we walked in we were greeted with cold stares, instead of a welcoming "hello!" I felt them watching me the whole time I browsed and I was afraid to touch anything. My husband had an important email he had to answer, so he was looking at his phone (not talking) while I browsed. The woman yelled from the back of the store "SIR...CAN I HELP YOU?" My husband said with a smile, "no thanks I'm just waiting for my wife!" She stared back at him, no smile, and then yelled, "We don't want people standing in the store staring at their phone!" He said "got it" and we left the store immediately without purchasing anything. Too bad for them. If they have silly rules like this, then they should be posted. We are an older couple, dressed very neatly, and we were very polite while in the store. We were treated like two delinquent teenagers who were going to cause trouble. This is the first review I have ever done, but this experience made me angry and sad. It really put a damper on what started out as a great birthday.

Could not wait to enter to purchase a duvet for our beach house. Upon entering w my family the lady in charge of the store was abrasive and passive aggressive to my daughter who was gently touching some of the merchandise. The amount of disrespect shown by this individual to my daughter and to see how she broke her heart was enough to turn and leave . There are way more beautiful linens in this area to not waste any time entering this business.

This is a very under rated business in your review. I found the business full of top quality merchandise and the proprietors were most helpful and engaging. Is there a vendetta around this shop? If so, I would suggest that someone should be responsible and give this shop a fair assessment rather than have them victimized by less than worthy customers. Small shops deserve to have fair reviews and not be victimized buy the rare customer with at grievance.

Mary at the Linen Press in Mystic has a gem of a shop! She is knowledgeable and carries quality sheets and linens. This past winter I purchased a new down duvet, Euro pillows, 2 down pillows, which I loved so much I just purchased 2 more. I purchased all new bedding linens for the duvet and I could not be happier. What a difference my bed is.I referred a friend who is just as happy and we were both thrilled to support a local business in Mystic than a big store. You can make a appointment with Mary, which I initially did for my purchase or drop in which I do also as she has lovely lotions, soaps and table items.

This shop is a purveyor for fine linens, table top items, sleepwear and baby clothing items. I enjoyed visiting with the owners and found them helpful and charming. I recommend this store to all who appreciate the finer things in life!

I never leave reviews on Yelp unless I have an extremely positive or extremely negative experience. Unfortunately, my experience at the Linen Press in Mystic was about the worst I have experienced in recent memory. Similar to another individual's comment, I was greeted the absolute minute I entered the store to look at the lovely Champagne bottle pajamas hanging in the window. The mostly helpful, seemingly friendly gentleman said that all of the prices were listed and that there were more available in the back. I asked the woman who either owned or worked at the store what brand the pajamas were and the answer was "oh, we get several different brands". Well, that was a non-answer. Everything has a brand name and as a lover of quality linens and pajamas, I wanted to know if it was one I was familiar with. Clearly, she did not want to provide this information. I then carefully picked up a nightshirt hanging near but not in the window to see if I could get additional information such as the brand, material, etc. and the woman literally yelled at me from the back of the store. "Please do not touch our display of items. We have more of those in the back". Then she proceed to exclaim quite loudly that I was removing the stickers from the merchandise. I absolutely was not removing stickers from the merchandise and let her know that. I left the store at that point while my husband purchased a small item at the register and he witnessed her continuing to chastise me, loudly. He finally said, that is my wife you are talking about and she probably would have bought those pajamas but certainly not now. The merchandise is top notch but personally I'd rather support top notch people with top notch merchandise. Nothing in there was so unique that I needed to deal with unprofessionalism on full display.

If I could rate this a .05 out of 100 I would. This store is an atrocity it smelled faintly of feta cheese and a stale Big Mac. I brought my great grandson who has a very sensitive nose and we were very displeased by the odor. The floor in the store is one of the least tasteful designs I have seen in my day and I was born in 1925. I will add however that the duvet covers were quite nice however I will not ever be spending any money here.

After having lunch in Mystic my friend and I decided to check out some Mystic shops. I was in a similar shop in Calabassas, but this shop didn’t have the pleasing aroma nor pleasing customer service. It’s not unlike me to squirt lotion testers that are displayed in Newport, Block Island, etc., as I am always looking for a nice shoreline scent. There were two glass bottles on display, so I went for the one that was two inches down on lotion. I was immediately reprimanded that this was not a tester and that a tester would say “tester” and she grabbed it and stated that it could no longer be sold now and put it out of reach. Needless to say, we left immediately. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated so rudely to be honest. I went in there to purchase a wedding gift from the window, but I would never step foot in that store again (I’m local and not that it matters, but we were both dressed up for our lunch outing).

Condescending, Rude, Agest Karen. SO and I are renting locally while decorating a new home in South Asia and buying a 3,000+ sqft home in SE Coastal CT where we need to decorate multiple rooms. I like to support small local businesses and don’t mind spending extra to do so and the underwater themed duvet cover color and print style really caught my eye and drew me into the store. We were just gifted a duvet cover so not in need necessarily but I liked it enough to buy; left without it and immediately had a conversation about how I refused to purchase from such a condescending person. I’m respectful and saw the no touching signs so asked about fabric feel and was brought a swatch. It wasn’t awful but definitely not the finest fabric either. And while I’m accustomed to fine linens and high quality/custom linen shops in Seattle, various European countries, and South Asia, this lady kept saying things like “it’s expensive for young people… I like to educate young people, 600 thread count can mean nothing, this is 300 thread count Egyptian cotton… I’ve been doing this 30+ years… etc.” and name dropping obscure brands to quiz my knowledge. Like seriously? Get over yourself. I’m a 30 yr old professor who ACTUALLY educates people, shops internationally for silk, fur and art collections and my SO’s IT salary is probably more than your house. Now, seeing all of the other reviews, I’m definitely not the only one who’s experienced this behavior. Time to reflect on your judgmental snobbery instead of argue in comments, you are driving customers away. Ended up with custom orders in at other shops and will be looking at linens during upcoming international travels instead.

I can't understand the negative reviews that this shop has received. I happened in this afternoon and was blown away, not only by the quality merchandise but the owners of the shop. They were helpful and kind. I enjoyed speaking with them. I left without purchasing anything only to return a few minutes later to purchase a beautiful bowl. They are just trying to make a living like everyone else. Think before you post negative things.

I am appalled by the rudeness and disrespect of the owner. I was excited to shop in this store, similar to my custom design business I did for 20 year, Until the owner took all her morning wrath on me for touching the bedding. I apologized and yet, she still continued to vent her frustration. Then she said to the other women, "This is going to be a long day". I quickly left the store. No one deserves this level of disrespected. I don't care how high your horse is, if you cannot handle a storefront in a busy tourist area then move out of Mystic. Very upsetting experience.
