We had an excellent experience with the two guys who work there! Not only did they call us in advance to confirm our pick up time, but when we showed up early to fill out the paperwork, they got us our truck early. Super kind and helpful, making our move smooth for a more affordable rate than Uhaul.Sorry we didn't catch your names, but thank you both for a speedy and streamlined service :)

Awful customer service!! Was there yesterday for a 11 am pickup of truck. When I tell the representative he says i don’t have anyone for a rental at 11. A few seconds passes by he says I have a rental here but are you able to get a ride to the other location because your car is not here? I said why? He says we closed at 4 pm yesterday and your reservation was placed after closing I said ok but you open at 8 am. What does one have to do with the other. I said where is the other location? He then tells me that I can’t go get the car at the other location because it is not clean. I said how long before you can get it an clean it. He and another representative chimed in and said 20 minutes and then they will clean it. This person also said that they were very busy and that is why they didn’t know about my rental. I asked how will he compensate for this he totally ignored me. Through our interaction he was very dismissive and disrespectful to me. Never any eye contact no good morning no smiling no anything. I felt clearly disrespected. I asked questions he didn’t respond. I called budget customer service and informed them of the treatment and his behavior. I was compensated from them however, I want to warn people who go there that they are not committed to excellence. The car that they gave me was not cleaned appropriately and their customer service is awful. You shouldn’t have to pay over 200 dollars for less than a 24 hr rental and be treated disrespectfully. I would NEVER go back here again. There are other Budget rental places like Thomaston Ave. Waterbury location that has amazing customer service. Unfortunately they did not have the car available that I was looking to rent. Customers beware of this place!! If you are looking for unfriendly people with attitudes this place is for you!

They gave me a truck with an empty tank and assured me I could return it empty to the next location. The next location says they won't take a truck without a full tank of gas.

Customer service at its worst!!!! Wish I could give 0 stars. Started with getting our license stuck in their machine (took 10+ minutes to get it out). When we reserved, we were allowed to have a different reservation name and credit card but when we picked up the car, we were told that we would have to change the name on the reservation. They then told us they couldn’t do it and we would have to call. Called Budget and got hung up on 3 times. Finally got someone who said that we were unable to change the name on the rental. They suggested cancelling and rebooking at the same location. But there were no cars available (even though we were going to cancel). Asked the person working at the counter if we cancel, would we be able to rent the car that we cancelled and was told there was no guarantee. Not sure how it was going to be rented in one minute. Ended up speaking to a supervisor at Budget who was going to “try” and change the name. After being on hold for over 8 minutes, I told them that we will make this easy. Simply cancel and refund my money. This they were able to do in 2 minutes. So instead of changing a name on a reservation (a reservation they permitted), they lost business. And am pretty sure that the car wasn’t rented since we were there 1/2 hour before closing. There was never an apology or an even a statement to acknowledge the frustration. There was no assistance from the location to work with us or even with the budget customer service reps. This is why I usually use enterprise (and will always use them going forward).

DO NOT RENT A CAR AT BUDGET: They give you damaged cars and the staff is very rude.Budget rented a car to me with a hole in the storage box in between the seats (see on the picture). Apparently, we did not realize it when we did the checks in the beginning. However, during the rental, I stored my sunglasses and my AirPods in there (without realizing the hole). When I wanted to clean up the car before giving it back, I wanted to take out my things out of the storage box and when touching my AirPods I saw how they felt in this whole. When I tried to call the emergency number of Budget nobody picked up the phone. I tried it for several times, at least 30 min consecutive. This experience shows how little customers can trust and rely on Budget. I would never ever rent a car from there again, the cars are in bad conditions, no check-ups are made and in case of an accident, you cannot rely on the customer service. DO NOT RENT A CAR AT BUDGET.And this is not the end. When bringing the car back, I asked for support there. The staff at the counter was laughing in my face and just saying he is not mechanic but I can rent the car again for another day and try to disassemble the whole car under my own risk.Summarizing, cars are in bad conditions which harm customers, bad and unreachable customer service and very rude and unfriendly staff. It couldn't have been worse.

Very poor experience – would not recommend. I read on the Budget website and in this location that it is possible to pay with a debit card, but upon arrival to pick up my vehicle, I was told that this was not the case (again, despite notices in the same location stating that debit cards are accepted). Resolving the issue proved difficult and time-consuming and involved little help from Budget.

I was charged for a rental which I was not provided. I showed up to pick up my booked rental which I had made through Expedia. I provided my booking confirmation info, driver's license and credit card, and was told which car I would be given. A few minutes later the agent told me he would not be able to provide me a car because I had another active rental. I had returned a different car to a different Budget/Avis location that day, and the rental "had not closed out in the system". This location was closing for the night, and there was no way for me to come back the next day. Then still charged me the full amount of the four day rental plus the $200 temp charge, even though I was never provided a car, and had not signed any paperwork. The next day they charged my credit card another $50. I have no idea what that charge is for. It is so frustrating that there is no one available after hours to talk to about having the charges removed.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! I had a horrible experience and service with them. I’ve rented cars many times throughout my life but never had such complicated issues with a car rental company like this one. Once again don’t rent cars from Budget.

The entire process was a nightmare when my rental was basically free due to points. The staff was incompetent, inaccurate and unprofessional. They never checked me out when the car was returned and now I have an unnecessary charge!!! DO NOT BOOK AT THIS LOCATION!!! Save yourself several calls to customers!!! If I had an option to do negative star I would press it a hundred times I am livid!!!

I had the absolute worst experience with Budget. From pick up in Boston till handover in New Haven it was a catastrophe. I arrived with a plane from Denmark on the 21st of August and needed a car to go to my American host in Hamden, CT. First the pick up line in Boston was about a mile long. They only had two employees and they were so slow. I had prepaid for a GPS to be in the car. There was not, so I had to go back and ask for a GPS. This after having waited more than an hour in line, which truly was not was I needed after an eight hour flight. The GPS was a kind of tablet. It was hard to use an counter intuitive. The sound was impossible to adjust and the screen so dark, that it was almost impossible for me to see. Now comes the worst part. On returning my car on the 22nd of August in New Haven the "manager" suddenly claims that I have had a pet in the car, because there are pet hair in the back seat. Of course I did NOT bring a dog with me from Denmark on my exchange trip to Yale University. I did not even open the back doors of the car because it was only me traveling, so I only used the trunk for my luggage. I picked the car up at the airport, so of course I expect the car to be clean. The manager just does not want to listen. He claims that he is personally liable for 450 dollar and insists on charging me for this amount because I need to pay to get the car cleaned from pet hair. He refuses to call the Boston office. He refuses to be an active part in any way trying to solve this problem. He is rude. He obviously does not care about customer service at all. So now I am stuck on my second week trying to get help from customer service in getting my 450 dollars back that was crudely robbed from me at the New Haven shop on Olive Street! DO NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! NEVER! GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Save yourselves the hassle. Save your selves from the rude manager that obviously hates his work in all imaginable ways.
