This shop is absolutely amazing! Everyone who works there is so friendly and their quality of work is unmatched. I brought my wedding band to have resized and they pointed out some flaws in it and fixed them and resized it so fast. This has been one of the best jeweler shop experiences I’ve ever had and I cannot wait to give them more business.

Beautiful jewelry and phenomenal service! We went to Derek Simpson for our wedding bands and were beyond happy with the result. Derek is incredibly talented and Gene makes customers feel welcome and comfortable, they're a great team! Derek created a custom band to match my antique engagement ring and did an amazing job matching the color of the gold alloy, as well as designing a band that fit perfectly against my unusually-shaped ring. He also worked really hard to make it happen within our tight timeline. When my husband needed his ring resized, we came back and Derek did it within 10 minutes! We would absolutely visit again and highly recommend the shop for any fine or custom jewelry needs.

My fiancé worked with Derek to design my engagement ring and it is honestly the most beautiful thing I own. They (without consulting me) managed to make something that fit my style perfectly. It is so well crafted and so comfortable. It looks and feels delicate but I can tell it was built to last.

We wanted to use my fiance's grandparents' wedding bands for our wedding, but they needed resizing, new stones, and general refurbishment - they were in pretty bad shape. It took a while, but we just got them back and they completely exceeded our expectations. The rings look gorgeous and brand new, and the stones that they found look *amazing.* The staff obviously take great pride in their work, and for a good reason!

I wear a piece of jewelry Derek made every day. It not only makes me smile when I see it - other people look and smile too. I am pretty hard on one ring Derek made me in particular. When I go into the store Derek is happy to make it look like new again. You can see he loves what he does - and so do the people who work for him. There is never a hard sell. I cannot say enough good things about him, his jewelry, his staff - it is just a great place. His jewelry is hand made and unique. You will not see everyone else wearing the same piece of jewelry. The store is worth a look!!

Do not go to this place... It took them a month to resize a simple wedding band (that they promised would take a week), and we are convinced they didn't even do the resizing that we paid $50 for. The ring is just as loose as when it was dropped off over a month earlier. They were also shockingly rude. When we called to say that the ring didn't fit and ask whether a resizing was indeed done, the man said "that's not my problem" and hung up. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

We are so in love with Derek Simpson! We bought our engagement/wedding rings here and had a lovely experience with the whole staff, from start to finish. We first came with very little idea of what we were looking for, and we were guided through an array of possibilities for an engagement ring setting. We e-mailed in some photos of rings we liked, and ultimately, Derek created a ring for us with petal-like prongs with individual small diamonds set in each petal. It looks traditional from the top but has unique detail when you look closely - exactly what we wanted. We also purchased my husband’s wedding ring there, and for my wedding band we used an old family ring, but they cleaned it up for us just to be nice. We were so happy with the rings themselves, and we also just loved everyone who works there enough that we kept visiting - even after our wedding, just to say hi and thank you!

I needed to have my finger sized for my college to resize my class ring (they do it for free), and Derek was happy to help, free of charge. Would definitely consider them if in the market.

Wonderful jewelry shop in New Haven. Long years of service to the community and it's no wonder that Derek and his staff have such a wonderful reputation. We had an engagement ring designed by him and the staff made the whole experience stress free. From help locking down a design, picking out the stones for the ring, all the way to understanding how to pick out wedding bands, the entire process was fun and engaging. Having selected an intricate design, it was wonderful to see the hand of the craftsman execute the piece. We would highly recommend anyone looking for jewelry especially for special occasions to at least drop in!
