I never knew that flashing my Chinese passport at a random FedEx Office in New Haven could be such a VIP experience—of the “you don’t belong here” variety. Truly unforgettable! 🌟
1. World-Class Professionalism
As soon as I presented my People’s Republic of China passport, the staff shook their heads: “That’s not a U.S. government-issued ID—no can do!” (Did I really just cross an international border inside America?)
2. Innovative ID Requirements
• Utility Bill? I live in Yale housing—utilities are included in rent. Where’s my bill?
• Phone Bill? My line’s under a family plan. Apparently that’s unacceptable.
• Bank Statement? FedEx’s own policy says it’s fine—yet they refused it anyway.
• Housing Account Statement? Lacks a “street number”? Instant rejection.
• Renter’s Insurance? Nope.
• Tax Return? “Oh, that’s an exception,” they scoffed, as if I’d smuggled contraband.
3. National-Origin “Bonus”
Even with every conceivable government-recognized document in hand, the magic words remained: “Must be U.S.-issued.” A heartwarming reminder that as an international student, my paperwork is basically worthless.
Huge thanks to FedEx Office for teaching me what real “public accommodation” means. If you’d like your non-U.S. passport politely ignored, give them a try!

Actively unhelpful and hostile staff. I highly recommend going to UPS or the FedEx in Orange instead.
Specifically want to mention the man referenced in A Ha's review. That man with a light beard and glasses delivered one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a customer service representative, but other staff here aren't much better. They don't want to do their job.

There is a man working at this location (unfortunately I don’t know his name) with a light beard and glasses who is consistently rude and unprofessional. I've had multiple unpleasant encounters with him, to the point where I’ve had to leave the store and take my shipping business elsewhere. It’s extremely disappointing that FedEx hasn’t addressed the ongoing customer service issues at this branch. Many people avoid this location because of his attitude. Honestly, the 3-star rating is generous—this place deserves below zero.

My wife and I tried to return boots she had delivered from just fab
The manager and the front desk employee refused to take the package because they said it was not in a box. By definition, a shoebox is a box and that is the way it was delivered. They seemed racist towards white people, because the Spanish people in front of us Had no problem returning their box Which was in bad shape.
We then went to the FedEx in Branford, which took the box with no problem. We’re very helpful and polite.
The manager and his protégé should be retrained and how to treat people of all races with respect and do their jobs without trying to sell them a $12 shipping box from FedEx.

I was notified of a delivery on March 24, 2025 by the Vendor (Quince). The package never arrived. When I tracked it through Fed Ex, it posted as delivered. I contacted them through their on-line function and a case was created. The next day I got a call from the New Haven Fed Ex office (message left on voicemail) saying that their delivery person’s “device” rerouted my package to another address that happens to be non-existant. This seemed very odd as I have never been notified by UPS, Fed Ex or other like services of a parcel being rerouted. All my attempts at getting Fed Ex customer service to attend to the issue were in vain—-you cannot speak to someone. It’s a constant loop of automated options that lead no where. I received emails that a case was created and in progress and no word since. Very concerning situation….

I really appreciate the staff who helped me retrieve an item I had mistakenly packed. They carefully opened it, allowed me to take out the misplaced item, and then resealed it. Excellent service! Thank you so much!!!

The guy was so helpful. He helped me in printing. Adding a few pictures. For the courier sizes they have. The guy told me to bring my luggage, he will help in packaging. I'm delighted. I have not sent my package yet, but Many thanks to FedEx in advance.

I can only say the manger there should be fired today. This guy will not release my package, even after I called the FedEx main office to change the receiver. The most unprofessional and disrespectful and rude manager that I have ever encountered. Do not use this location to ship or drop off packages unless you enjoy being treated like garbage, by a nobody looser on a power trip. Please fire him !!

Racist and disrespectful male agent at front desk. Demanding for unreasonable documentation while I’ve already provided proof of the order to him. The other female agent was nice and reasonable, immediately approved my provided proof and said there’s absolutely no need for me to show the unreasonable documentation demanded by him. How interesting.

Lou e Chris helped me a lot in preparing the expensive shipment to Italy of a very large package, with a lot of patience, understanding and kindness. They are very professional. I will definitely return to FedEx, and I recommend everyone to ship from their office

Had to head in here to return a book to a distant library and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. As I typically do, I arrived rather late, about 10 minutes before closing but with a task of five minutes at most. The staff, while tired and wishing to head home work soon after, was extremely attentive. They walked me through the whole process without a question and engaged in delightful small talk as everything was scared away. A location with quality service.

Not to sound like a Karen but I walked in yesterday and was the only person in line and the staff was very unfriendly. They talked to me like I was stupid and like me being there was an inconvenience and ended up ignoring me to help a customer who walked in after me. All I did was ask for help shipping a box with a digital label lol
