For this Panera Bread to be in the heart of the Downtown New Haven area near Yale University this location sadly is by far subpar and should close as they did during the onset of COVID! - The staff is not very hospitable and/or welcoming, the workers who prepare the food are discourteous, rude and very ghetto might I add. Shower caps but, no hair nets or changing of gloves.... Seriously not only is that unsanitary, it's ridiculous?! The food is literally thrown together without any care or thought, you're just supposed to accept whatever slop is provided to you after paying a good penny because let's be honest Panera is not by ANY MEANS inexpensive. The management is a joke and the female English manager in charge is laughable, she acts like she could careless; she has no backbone nor does she stand up to her colleagues, she will stand there while seeing the workers mistreat paying customers, etc. and not utter one word!? No one ever gets reprimanded which is absurd. Staff argue you with you to use reward points, etc. This location is a definite NO. I'd rather go to the Hamden Plaza location, there they know the concept of adequate customer service!!

The last time I ordered from Panera they forgot 2 of my items. They said I could come pick them up (which totally defeats the purpose of paying extra to have the food delivered). I decided to wait awhile before eating there again.My first time ordering again, and I received an inedible chicken avacodo sandwich with a tiny piece of chicken (like the size of half a chicken nugget) and rotten avocado.I will never order from here again.

Rather than ask me for my choice of a side item that goes with the main item, the cashier decided to decide for herself. She also made the order to go without asking me. Then when I approached her to get the bathroom key after seeing a man walk out of the bathroom, she said that the man was still in the bathroom. Then, yes, there's more, when I mentioned this to the manager when I was picking up the bag of food, he talked over me in a hostile tone. He even chastised me for handing the bathroom key to him. "Take it to the cashier!"

Awful service. Waited 50 minutes for food that was pre-made. We had somewhere to be and they simply said they could not check the list to see if our names were there after almost an hour of waiting? Food was decent, but not worth it and we were not able to enjoy it at all after waiting so long and being in a rush.

The male manager is consistently rude and off putting. If you can’t be courteous to people of ALL backgrounds, don’t work customer service. Doesn’t acknowledge you at the register, rushes you out, weirdly stingy with cups even if you’re a Sips member

THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE TEA MENU AND HOURS ASAP. They are missing all of Panera’s regular hot tea flavors (no earl grey or mango tea is bananas), no pumpkin spice syrup or drinks, and I have never heard of a Panera closing before 9! At least stay open til 5/6!

Over an hour wait! We came for lunch and it was fast to order on the self service kiosk. However, the wait to get our food was so so long. It is graduation weekend so I understand longer than normal wait times, but over an hour verges on unacceptable for a fast food lunch place like this. The food is good/standard for Panera. I always love the you pick two options. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean enough. Everything else is totally fine, but I would recommend the restaurant consider staffing up for certain known scheduled college events.

I ordered a strawberry chicken salad full size and they didn't put any chicken on this salad even though the salad says strawberry chicken popseed chicken salad.the person preparing the food said they didn't see on the order screen that the salad had chicken.guess they have a excuse for everything when in the salads name clearly says the word chicken.check your order before you leave the order pick up place.

Hands down the filthiest Panera I've ever been in, perhaps the filthiest restaurant of all. Stopped in for lunch. None of the tables had been cleaned. There were crumbs everywhere, and sort of a greasy film on all the tables. The seats of the booths were all ripped and many of the tabletops had been written or carved on. Totally gross and not to Panera standards.

I had to ask 3 different people for my rapid pickup order. They keep them behind counter instead of on pickup shelfs.The place is old now and the tables are vandalized. Won't be back to New Haven one.

If you don't mind a chicken salad that eats dryer than lake Meade, then you won't mind the food here. I won't for sure. My sandwich was boring, and dry served on a dense bagel. The staff was out of sorts and it took more than ten minutes to get a sandwich. The bathroom was dirty and while the employees were nice, the place was disjointed. There was a middle aged woman who kept yelling at this young guy doing his best. It waa very uncomfortable. No thanks
