If you need a haircut and color in New Haven this is your spot !!! Bella is AWESOME and was a magician with my hair. I love it. I wanted just a trim and a tiny bit of balayage and she did amazing exactly what I wanted. The staff are all wonderful as well :) Highly recommend but it’s a bit pricy just to set expectations !!

First time visit to salon J and I’m so happy I went! Wanted to find a new salon home in downtown NH and Tali has locked that in for me. She was kind, professional, efficient and most of all, a talented stylist. I don’t go often but I will certainly be back. Thank you Tali!

I'm so over the moon with my experience at Salon j! Sam is awesome! I am a full time caregiver and hadn't had a haircut in awhile. I don't have a lot of time to spend on styling my hair...she listened to what I wanted, I showed her a photo and she did an amazing job! And she is so friendly and attentive. We discussed color options based on my lifestyle, I am 54 and going gray but need something to tame the gray and blend for easier upkeep. She consulted with me, gave me pricing and options. ( very reasonable). I was in the hair/ salon industry for over 25 years, as a salon development manager and creative manager. I am so impressed with the salon, the stylists, receptionist, and the experience, energy, talent and services. If you are reading this, book an appointment!!

Been coming here for awhile now and haven’t gotten a bad haircut yet. Sam is my go-to stylist and she always remembers what I want so I don’t ever need to tell her. Highly recommend calling ahead of time to make an appointment because they are always busy.Services: Shampoo & conditioning

This is my usual New Haven salon and I have always gotten good haircuts here. However, I went in today to have my VERY short hair cut cleaned up, an appointment I booked over the phone as a "men's style cut". The haircut itself took maybe ten minutes and it was done with clippers as expected. Upon checking out I learned that I was being charged for a women's haircut ($10 more than the men's price) simply because I am otherwise female presenting. This is ridiculous and unless the salon changes their pricing policies I will not be returning.Service: Hairstyling

I’ve been getting my haircut here for over 10 years now and all the stylists here are pretty great. Sam has been my go-to for most of that time and I don’t even have to tell her what I want anymore. They bring you to the sink and wash your hair every time for a cut instead of just using a spray bottle which I appreciate. I am not a cat. They do all sorts of hair stuff not just for women or long hair and have student discounts. The only thing I would forewarn is that they do not take tips via credit card, only cash or Venmo so come prepared for that. Also they can be quite busy so I’d call ahead to make an appointment but if you’re feeling dangerous they do take walk ins, you just might be waiting for a while.

I'm so happy I found Salon J when I moved to New Haven. Everyone is super friendly there, and the environment is very comfortable. Bella and Talia have both been my stylists and they are wonderful. I highly recommend Salon J if you are seeking a cut and/or color in the New Haven area!
