The Wine Thief is an indispensable part of New Haven. It is not a "find it all" type store but a very curated shop with a great selection at a variety of price points. The rare type of wine shop, it is clear they don't keep anything in stock that they wouldn't be happy to drink themselves, so you can grab any bottle and be confident it is a good wine at a fair price. They also have an excellent selection of spirits and interesting, unusual beer options. The staff's wine knowledge is unmatched, and they are always super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, willing to guide customers or order special requests. Their free Saturday tastings are a great experience and a great way to learn about wine.
