Worst Stop and Shop I have ever been to my life. I have never dealt with such rude employees and seen such a poorly stocked store. If you don't mind the drive go to the one on Whalley Avenue downtown.

Food fresh and hot; and, CSRs' are friendly and demonstrative regarding their offerings: brand or generic.

This Stop and Shop store was clean, organized, and very well stocked. There were plenty of staff on the floor for assistance in locating items that have been completely rearranged. The prices at this location appear to be much higher than they are at other branches. The organic fresh food area and their Nature's Promise section is one of the best aspects of this store. They carry a full line of both fresh and frozen products for every dietary preference.

Worst store ever! Cashiers & cashier managers are rude. I was accused of throwing my ID when she asked me for it she turned with her knee up and munched a donut out of a bag. I stood there & waited for her to look at me then I dropped my ID in front of her. The cashier manager said "I'd throw it right back at her!" I was floored. I'm the nicest person in the world & very patient. This store has repeatedly disappointed me. I will NEVER go there again!

Do NOT use the pick up service. You don't get all your bags, and they don't substitute for things as common as milk and butter. A TOTAL waste of time and effort. I wish there was another grocery store option in New Haven. I would LOVE to see a Big Y here, but Stop and Shop seems to have the monopoly.

This Stop & Shop is mediocre and is one of the worst in the area. The store is fairly clean and well lit inside for the most part. The store is well stocked and carries a huge selection. Like all Stop & Shops, the floral department is excellent! They have a huge selection of beautiful flowers and plants. They also have lots of really nice seasonal decorations. The bakery is also very good. They have a huge selection of baked goods. All the bakery items were well stocked and looked fresh. The produce is good here. Most of the berries, cabbage, peppers, and other fruits and vegetables looked fresh and were well stocked. The deli is good with friendly staff. The chicken was all hot and fresh. The sandwiches looked fresh and were well stocked. This location got a hot wing bar last fall and the wings looked fresh and tasty The seafood looked fresh for the most part and was well stocked. Meats were not great. There is a gas station onsite here which is very convenient. The staff at this location are friendly and helpful for the most part, although there are a few that could use some customer service training. There are multiple issues with this location. I have found a lot of expired items on the shelves here, make sure you check the dates on everything you're buying to make sure it's fresh. This is an issue that exists at most supermarkets, but this location was pretty bad, I was surprised at how many expired items I saw on the shelves. They really need to do a better job of checking the expiration dates. Also, the store looks terrible outside. The storefront is very old, rundown, worn and the paint on the building is peeling, chipped, faded, and cracked. It's needs to be updated. The parking lot, storefront, and surrounding areas always have a huge amount of litter and trash scattered around. The store overall really needs to be fixed and cleaned up outside as it looks terrible; so messy and rundown. Inside, the entrances are messy. Also, the meat department is bad here. The butcher area had a strong foul odor of rotten meat, and many of the meats on the shelves were turning brown, were already brown/gray, were expiring the same day, or had juices pooled at the bottom. I would be very careful with the meat department here. This store is not in the nicest or safest area either, some of the customers and workers can be unprofessional or rude at times. Overall, this Stop & Shop needs improvement. There's no reason for the store to be the way it is, but sadly it's always been like this; mediocre and badly managed. I like the Hamden and West Haven stores better and would recommend you go to those over this one. Hamden is better all around; it's well managed, clean, has a huge selection, and fresher meat. West Haven isn't the best, but is larger, has much better meat, and has a wider selection. However, if you live in the area and can't get to a better store, this location is your only option. On the plus side, it is kept fairly clean inside, and has a wide selection. It is convenient just off the Wilbur Cross Parkway, especially if you need gas. It is much better than the filthy Whalley Ave store, I won't ever bother with going there. However, I'd rather go to another location over this one, I'd recommend going up to the Hamden store. This location has a few positives, but overall needs some work done. 2.5 stars for the Amity Stop & Shop.

I will not use the self checkout as you are taking jobs away from real people and there is no discount for using the automated tellers. Other reviewers are right about the condition and freshness of the produce and fish at this location. I like Trader Joe's and fish markets.

Every time I have gone here no matter what time of day there's only 1 cashier it's very bizarre. There's only two self check out lines as well. The employees aren't very helpful and I find that it's actually cheaper to go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's where it's a much nicer atmosphere/customer service experience.

This place represents what unions get you higher prices and worse quality. This store looks terrible and the ceiling is falling apart and its in a dangerous area. The worst new haven has to offer frequent this store, the druggies, drunks and hobos too. Oh and that d*** robot thing. So if you are into that kind of thing, stop by! Go anywhere else other than S&S

The employees at the cash register are almost ALWAYS rude, non verbal and mostly uninterested. Most talk to fellow employees about not having a break or are on the cell phone. Where is the simple Hello...did you find everything you were looking for...have a nice day(please not have a good one) If you want 'customer service' I go next door to Dollar Tree...always at minimum pleasant. I shop almost entirely at Price Rite at exit 60/15 NB...prices are just the best...and getting better. Lets not even talk about the exorbitant SnS prices...geez really.
