This store is amazing! The owners were so nice and helpful. Picked up a French bistro set for my wife to create a new space at our home. She just adores it. We’ll definitely be back!

As the other reviews accurately point out this is a business you'll want to return to! A high-end purveyor of interior and exterior home and garden design elements that is sure to offer you something special or inspire you in an unexpected way.To save you the clicks to get to the website, their "About" page text that follows is well done and on-the-mark...."Perched above New Preston Falls, Pergola represents a transition from the wilds of nature to the cultivated environment of home. The sound of the waterfall, together with the rustic cedar entrance pergola and the antique barn-roof slate floor, instantly establishes a natural store setting. The artfully displayed combination of uncommon plant material, aged terra cotta planters, weathered antiques, botanical books & prints, distinctive home fragrance collections, and a variety of natural curiosities, offers a highly sensual shopping experience for home & garden.""Opened in May 2005, owners David Whitman and Peter Stiglin soon developed an “in-the-know” reputation in Litchfield County and beyond for the unusual, the surprising, and the simply beautiful. With product collections that shift with the seasons, Pergola presents a new way of looking at, and living with, natural themes and elements. Relationships with the region’s premier specialty growers and greenhouses ensure a steady supply of the highest quality topiaries, orchids, ferns, and seasonal plants to help Pergola come to life. A network of local artisans, and antique sources from around the world, add texture and interest to the harmonious product and plant mix.""As the weather warms, Pergola spills outdoors to the waterfall garden with planted containers, rustic benches, well-aged stone garden elements, exterior room furnishings, and unexpected antique pieces. This blend of inside and out, of living plant material and choice product selections, is what helps focus Pergola and its lens on the natural world."END

A lovely little shop that sits perfectly in a lovely little town. Dim and quiet - filled with treasures. A careful selection of plants creep and burst and bloom from gorgeous clay pots. Jasmine, ferns, philodendron and orchids. Books, thoughtfully chosen antiques and small curiosities as well. Despite the weathered floor and pretty patches of moss that lend themselves to something a bit wild and earthy, the space manages to be meticulous. I've stopped on my way into town for a hostess gift and on my way out for something to put on my windowsill. Pricey, yes. Worth the splurge though.
