These ppl are horrible they never pick up at the actual location then they forward you to these people who are no help every week in order extend my rental they put me through the most you have to pull up to the location ima business man I have no time to go to the actual location very poor customer service

First off, this place already has a 1.8 star rating for good reason and corporate should really pull their franchise. Secondly, not pulling any punches, at least one employee here is a thief! I rented a vehicle for a holiday trip Dec 23-26, and brought my own EZ-Pass for tolls. I stupidly forgot the pass in the rental when I returned it, but instead of contacting me when the vehicle was cleaned to let me know I'd made a mistake and holding it for me, somebody at this office decided to use my EZ-Pass for their own tolls! Everything said about this office being dirty and the manager being obnoxious is correct, but they're also theives and cost me around $55 of tolls before I realized and canceled my account. Avis Customer Service was useless by the way, will rent from ANY company other than this one going forward!

Often rent at this location and today was the worst experience I have had there. The “owner” was sitting behind the desk when I arrived and she was on the phone with what I am assuming an employee at another location. The way she was speaking to this girl was degrading, acting like she didn’t have the time or patience to help her. When I got up to the desk there seems to be a new employee working and she may have been there to train him. To say this woman was hostile is an understatement. She talks to you like you are stupid and you are beneath her, has an answer and response for everything. I have had the same car from them for awhile and had to renew my rental. I expected to keep the same car I had and she told me that because I booked a compact car reservation that’s what I would be getting. I only say this because for the previous time I had an upgraded vehicle (because they didn’t have another to give me at the time) and I had previously renewed the car at the same rate with another employee. She told me I cannot keep using that car because it’s not what I paid for. The last employee apparently mistakenly renewed me on that upgraded car. She then threw the employee under the bus, called them immediately to tell them they can’t renew upgrades. She told me she is going to find out who did this and I will let them know they aren’t to do that again. I have never meet anyone so rude, hostile and disrespectful to customers. If you hate what you do get a new job. I had asked her if there was a problem because I wasn’t sure why she was being so nasty. I feel bad for anyone that works here under her supervision. If you want to run a nice store, learn how to speak to people who are spending money at YOUR establishment, vacuum the floors and clean up the store because it is complete filth. I will be contacting corporate to report this and the behavior there because it is unacceptable.

This is by far the worst Avis I have ever used both in the US and international. Super slow and the wait is always long just for simple return.

Worst experience ever, the customer services is mind boggling and very unprofessional. The manager (Lisa) is beyond rude and she needs to be taught how to talk to people in a friendly manner, especially when dealing with customers. One of her employees, a tall gentleman with glasses who works there, wouldn’t give me his name at all, even when asked numerous times. When working in customer service it is vital to state your name to the customer because that’s how you normally generate the conversation. I’ve worked in sales before so I know what good customer service is supposed to look and sound like, and what Lisa teaches her employees is not an efficient way to communicate with people. She needs serious help with developing her interpersonal communication skills, which she lacks tremendously.

If you don't like talking to people and can't resolve a situation without resorting to belittling customers and yelling, DONT GET INTO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They had 4 vehicles on the lot, but refused to give me a vehicle, even though we had prepaid 2 weeks in advance.

Worst experience on renting a car; Had to wait one hour just to get through the paperwork; the employee is always on the phone for each and every step of the way; A word of Advice to Avis is to have trained employees and have at least two well trained staff.Looks like time does not have any value for these guys.

I will never use Avis again. The manager was so rude when returning my vehicle early. Over charged me and I told her I received the vehicle with half a tank, refused to look at me and listen to me and charged me to fill the tank $80 what a racket she runs and trains her staff this place is Horrible. I complained to corporate and at least they refunded my $80. But it should never have gotten to the pointof waiting my time and efforts.

The reviews are accurate. This place is awful. Customer service is snarky, not helpful at all. They do not communicate wait times, availability of cars and have you waiting for hours WITH a reservation. This is all coming from a supervisor so you're stuck until they want to give you a car. They don't offer any solutions for inconveniences. Go anywhere else. Take the bus if you have to.

My girl and I have used Avis and Hertz many a times as we travel tons. This was HANDS DOWN the worst experience, almost as if they didn’t have any vehicles as they refused to let my fiancé process her ID without her previous marriage certificate. Her ID matches the reservation, ID also matches the credit card used. The “Avis representative” present isn’t even wearing an Avis shirt, rather an inhome hospice healthcare shirt. Refused to call any supervisors, as they are busy, and refuses to give me a her own name rather an employee ID code of 04232. GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN HERE. A FUHCKING DISGRACE OF A BUSINESS. Not to mention the floors are disgusting

Poor customer service (0 stars if I could)We were greeted with hostility when asked why there was an additional charge. Due to traffic I ran late to return the vehicle I rented for one day. Prior to my deadline I called and explained that to the owner, which in return was told the business closes at 6pm. This response led me to believe I had until 6pm to return the vehicle. I arrived on site a few minutes before 6. The owner then stated I would be charged for an additional day. I kindly asked while being interrupted why that’s the case when I called this was not stated. I had no issue paying for service rendered but the hostility and the dismissive tone was unacceptable. Also, had the audacity to fabricate story about what I said on the phone in-front of my face, hilarious.I would never do business at this facility again. In addition the facility was filthy to the point where you wanted to hold your breath the entire time due to the dirt that was clogged on the vents. They took the time to laminate a sign stating the bathroom was out of order, quite frankly it seemed as though it’s been that way for an extended time. The building is literally falling apart. The only reason I rented a vehicle here bc all other rental businesses in the surrounding area didn’t have any available vehicles for two days and I needed a vehicle asap for my business.

I have been an Avis client for over 15 years. Often times earning Presidents Club due to the volume of rentals as I travel for business. I have NEVER had a more unprofessional experience with a location than I have had with Avis in Newington CT. They are extremely rude, unprofessional and do not care whatsoever about the people they are to be assisting with their reservations. The location is dirty, they have virtually all the lights off inside, this is in addition to vehicles that are dirty, low fuel levels and both of my recent rentals had “Service Due” lights on. They attempted to charge me over $100 for fuel when I received the car with half a tank, and returned it with half a tank. When I told the girl that I have photos of Fuel and Mileage both before and after the rental, she stated that it didn’t matter, that they don’t take photo evidence. What!? She refused to take the charge off and then hung up on me. When calling back, the location refused to answer the phone. I have filed a complaint with Avis regarding my experience and will be working with Business Relations as well regarding my AWD account for my employees as well. I will be taking our business elsewhere. Do not waste your time or money with this location as they are unprofessional and scam you any chance they get.

Tried to get a rental prepaid online. Used a different card than my ID, which was my fault. We got there one lady told us that we just had to have the person who’s card was on file switch over. So we called the person over to meet us and when we get in a new lady Lisa told us we couldn’t do it and we would have to call and cancel. Didn’t give us a number and told us we were lying when we said the other lady told us we could just switch over. Horrible customer service by Lisa. I read the bad reviews and thought it couldn’t be that bad but I was wrong.
