I came to the Exceptional Pet after trying several other places for training with my last dog and not having a great experience. I started here with my dog Rosie (as a puppy) in basic obedience and we have progressed through therapy dog certification. The instructors are knowledgeable and caring and it has been excellent. Lots of different classes to try but our favorite has been "Dogs Around Town" which was a fun way to work on socialization and training in public.

Knowledgeable trainers. Lots of fun learning. Excellent help with my reactive dog. Ten stars!I wanted to post a new review, but, maybe because I already posted one, Google only let me edit my post. I have been training my dogs at The Exceptional pet for many years. Training has always been a wonderful experience, as mentioned above. But now I am beyond impressed. Not only does The Exceptional Pet offer obedience training at different levels, but now they offer other wonderful fun classes like Rally O, Crazy K9 (Which is agility and tricks training in different levels, and you can get AKC Trick Dog titles with your dog!), Scent Work, AKC Fit Dog (more AKC titles and fitness for your dog!), Dogs Around Town (Training in the real world), as well as Therapy Dog classes, and who knows what will pop up on the schedule next. There is so much to do, I just keep enrolling my dog in every session. And if you have a high energy dog that needs something to do, but it's too hot out (This summer has been brutal), get that energy out in a nice clean air conditioned center, with wonderful instructors.

We are thrilled with the excellent instruction we've been receiving with Sandy. Sandy's knowledgeable and her attention to each dog in the class is a testament to the care and respect she gives to each owner and dog. The classes we've taken with Sandy are Crazy Canines, Dogs Around Town, Therapy 101 and Therapy 102. We are very lucky to have found such a good trainer with creative skills in individualizing each dog.

Trainers are all knowledgable, friendly, and encouraging. Special shoutout to Sandy and her "Dogs About Town" course: she helped us train up our two dogs to the point where they are obedient and calm in public spaces. Sandy is incredibly patient and makes classes like this one fun!

I have trained both of my dogs at The Exceptional Pet. The facility is beautiful and the trainers are excellent. I value positive training practices and support the methodology used at The Exceptional Pet. I have recommended them for years and are using them again with my current pup!

Well I brought my dog here because of aggressive behavior towards other dogs when on leash. I was told we had to do private lessons first. Okay... that's fine except it wasn't. The only training involved a special word and treats, that only worked sometimes. There was no other option that was given to us. Well needless to say, she is still aggressive and I am at my wits end. I did see a trainer today actually working with the dogs not just the owners, outside and it was amazing! Two of the 4 dogs seemed to have some aggression, and it did involve some treats but mostly commands and hand actions. I got his card and am calling him today! Exceptional Pet was very expensive, and that's okay if they really did something. Don't waste your money!

We have attended two multi-week classes and have had multiple private sessions as well. Donna is incredibly talented and extremely helpful with our puppy. Our puppy is full of so much energy, but Donna handles her perfectly and teaches us so much about good training practices. I can't recommend The Exceptional Pet enough, to both new and experienced dog owners.

I am only speaking about the 1 on 1 at home lessons. I paid for 3 of the 1 on 1 lessons at home. Services rendered and the cost here doesn’t align. I was not impressed with the trainer nor the instruction that I received over the course of the 3 lessons. I would not recommend.

Called to inquire about dog training a few times. I ended up leaving a detailed message. Was never called back. Went elsewhere for training. #NotExceptionalService

I finally got my first puppy/dog and decided to look for a great trainer to help me out in teaching my new dog. I came across a few different pet training places and after speaking with Christine from Exceptional Pet I was sold. After speaking with Christine she informed me that the best route to take would be group classes and three personal trainer sessions valued at $1,005 before taxes. My first group class I was told that I should switch up to a personal training class instead of the four group classes at the beginning because it would allow my eleven-year-old son to partake in the training as I have physical disabilities. Due to scheduling conflicts (on both sides) I was only able to get two personal training classes in and one group training in a matter of over a month. Long story short, the interaction with the owner, Abby, became very uncomfortable after she sent me a very long email that was way out of context and was condisending. The email was over a patch that said "service dog in training" on my puppies new vest. I had been talked to by Courtney there and explained why it is not good to have that patch on my dogs vest and I understood right away and removed it. Over a week later that's when I received the email from Abby that made me feel very uncomfortable about attending classes there ever again. When I inquired about taking my puppy out of the classes and discontinue training with Exceptional Pet due to the interaction with the owner Abby, I was under the impression I would receive the remainder of my balance, however that was not the case. I was even told by Christine when I asked if I was able to get a refund, Christine said yes and would get much more than half the money back due to the email issue. About 15 minutes after that conversation with Christine I received an email from Abby the owner very quickly with a refund of only $580 (a little more than half of the money I paid upfront). I tried to call Christine after this a few times and left messages yet never received a call back. So as I stated earlier, I had only received two personal training sessions and one group class session. I still had 12 group classes left and 1 more personal training class valued at over $700-$800. Exceptional Pet did not try to keep me as a client and Abby tried to justify the small refund back as if she was doing me a favor. If I ran a business and the person did not receive what they paid for and was made to feel uncomfortable about going back, I would reimburse them. Beware of this company as I was ripped off.

I highly recommend taking the group classes available at The Exceptional Pet. The center is always clean and the trainers are extremely patient and knowledgeable. I attended group classes for the past two years with my Golden Retriever puppy and with their positive reinforcement training techniques she has become a highly trained and wonderful service dog through their non-profit, The Exceptional Sidekick. My only complaint is that the center is NOT wheelchair or handicap accessible which is difficult since they work with a lot of people with disabilities and their service dogs. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
