I recently visited the store to look at and buy a new furnace and was very dissatisfied with the rude attitude of the gentleman that spoke with me, if you can call him that. I was also asking about wall mounted applications and inquiring about a standard size rope gasket for them. One man said, ‘we don’t install them’. Ok. So when someone buys them, do you just tell them I don’t know what gasket to use or does it come with a standard size and an installation kit? Hmmm, that may have answered my question, no? I could not get a professional answer, and yes I was a little frustrated. I then said, ‘So moving on. Do you have wood furnaces? He said yes and paused for at least 10 seconds and then I said, ‘well can you show them to me.’ And he said, and I quote, ‘do you want me to write you a book?’ So very rude. I said, ok so now you want to be a wise ass?’ Now i’m more than frustrated. If anything, a professional person would not be rude back but, instead offer an apology for not being able to help and maybe make a suggestion to offset the frustration. Must you be retrained in etiquette? Maybe, if I was a man he would not have been so rude?…I’m assuming this was the owner given the fact the he so proudly announced he had been there for 50 yrs! The original owner, I’m assuming his father, whom started the business ran this business effortlessly and his staff was always pleasant. Yes, I myself as an older, retired individual, have been coming here for many years. It’s just not the same. Check the star ratings, sir, and try to understand why there is a low rating. There are so many other stove places available in Connecticut and that is where I will go. Not sorry. You’ve lost my business forever. 👎🏻

Have been there twice this month needing parts for my chimney both times were a great experience. There knowledge and helpfulness was grade A. Highly recommend for there quality products and knowledge of sales staff

I’m not sure how Joe Beiber does it but somehow he keeps extremely capable happy staff who clearly are supported when they opt on their own to support and help customers and this has been the case for at least 38 years. I bought my first stove there in 1985. It turned out to be smaller than I needed. I used it for several fires. They then took it back, as I recall, for 100% of the purchase price toward the next larger stove.I bought my 3rd stove 2 weeks ago, had it delivered by Tom and Earl who were wonderfully happy, helpful and capable people. After I overheated it with the first fire I talked with Kerry Norton who was fun and reassuring that I had most likely caused no harm. I told her that I called that discussion with her my stove therapy. She was funny and very knowledgeable. Sam Cruz (her right hand) is equally capable, helpful and knowledgeable.Thank you to the Preston Trading Post and their staff.

Amazing! 10/10 I had been looking for a quality table for my dining room and kept finding myself looking at furniture that just didn’t hit that spot. Enter Preston Trading Post and I came across the most perfect Amish reclaimed barn wood table I have ever seen. The model was too big so I passed it over until the most wonderful woman, Tammy, came to light up my day. Not only did she inform me about the modifications that I could make to make my dream table work for me but she also was the most elegant and kind person I’ve met in ages. I will be a life long customer for quality - both in the products they sell and the people that sell them. Spreading the word on this hidden gem!

My wife and I went to Preston Trading Post to look into fireplace inserts since our fire place sucked heat out of the room rather than adding heat. We spoke with Sam and he showed us 3 fire place inserts. Out of the 3, we chose the Quadrafire Expedition 2 insert. We opted to bring it home on our own. It got loaded into the truck and it was a very easy process. We contacted our usual chimney sweep (D. Rich Stone & Chimney) to install the unit. Once it was installed, we got it fired up and it is heating our entire 1700 sqft house! In the winter, we typically keep the thermostat at 66 on the main floor, and 61 upstairs. The Quadrafire Expedition 2 is holding our main floor between 70 and 72 for the whole floor (almost 80 in the living room itself!), and is holding 68 upstairs with all of the doors open. So much more comfortable than our oil heat!
