Not a fan of this place. Place is a dump and the technicians don’t know anything about dogs. They’re very abusive to animals and they cost to much. I would never go to them again. Do not bother waisting your time.

Never even got to see the vet. First time there with my two dogs they kept me waiting so I just walked out. I’ll spend a thousand dollars with another vet who knows how to keep an appointment

Not a fan of this place. I brought my dog here when he had his first seizure and found that staff is very nonchalant. The vet that saw us initially wanted me to just take my dog home and “see how he does” without doing any bloodwork or tests, I had to insist on doing further examination. They don’t make you feel like they care about the animals.

AHRH, their staff and especially Dr. Kristen have consistently gone above and beyond with flexibility, care, compassion, approachability, medical knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, pure and honest love and affection for animals. We have used this practice for many years and especially so during this past year. Our almost 15 year old golden doodle, Sera, began to require more medical assistance than in previous years. Dr. Kristen consistently returned calls and listened and communicated effectively with us in order to give Sera the best care possible. Sadly, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let our precious Sera go and Dr. Kristen was there for all of us. Sera's passing, although very difficult for us, was very gentle, peaceful and loving. Although our hearts and our home feel so empty without Sera, we know that Dr. Kristen gave her the best possible care. Many thanks, Dr. Kristen, and when we are ready, we will be bringing our new addition to your practice.

Animal Hospital Of Rocky Hill is great. Dixie is a pretty health dog but has had occasional problems with allergies and ear infections. They always treat her very well whether it’s the father (kind of a history buff, talked to him about WW1 and WW2) son or daughter that’s treating her. It’s also nice when everyone at the vet remembers who your dog is. I live all the way in East Haddam now but will continue to travel to Rocky Hill whenever Dixie needs care.

I was debating writing a review but with my dogs passing I was dealing with the emotional end of loosing my best friend and not my experiences with this establishment. Plus I was always told it’s in bad taste to bash a business. But the saga of this place continues. My family has been going to this place for over 20 years. So naturally when I had found my dog I brought her here after relocating from FL. When I had first brought her I believe this place was 24/7. Unfortunately I do believe this place was run better when Dr Havier was more present. Before I had even told my family my experiences they told me for their new dog they decided to bring him elsewhere. My dog was diagnosed with a severe heart murmur when I had found her which declined into CHF. I was bringing her for visits monthly for check ups on her medications during covid (I wasn’t allowed in). Multiple times I have had issues with their pharmacy which included receiving the wrong meds, or just not filling her script all together. One of those times was on a Thursday and for the holiday weekend my dog was without her medication. During her decline that happened in a week span I had brought her to 3 different ERs previously. First ER visit while they were taking her from me I noticed them trying to muzzle her. When I had asked why they stated there was a note in her file saying she bites. I had her for over 8 years at this point and not once had ever seen her bite or even try to bite ANYONE.. EVER . She was the sweetest dog (nail clippings, bath, shots, etc) not even a snarl. The fourth ER trip of the week I was lucky to catch them while they were open. Like I said I was seeing them for years and always paid my bill. I politely asked if I could pay half, and then them bill me the following half, the next week. The receptionist (older short lady) said “would you go to a grocery store and expect free food?” Coldly While handing over my dog dying of heart failure. Unfortunately, my dog passed that weekend at piper memorial. I had not made them aware partly because I was devastated and partly because of the disrespectful manners along with the carelessness of my dog under their care. Now 10 months later after recovering emotionally and financially I’m looking to rescue a new best friend. I filled out a application to adopt and was told I was not eligible because my dog was not spayed and also was not up to date on one of her vaccines. MY DOG COULD NOT BE SPAYED BECAUSE OF HER HEART CONDITION AND THE ANESTHESIA. This 100 percent should have been noted BOLDLY Incase of emergencies in her file. And also if I was bringing her monthly I would believe I’d be notified that she was in need of a vaccination. Anyways, I don’t have many experiences with different vets but my advisement is to not go here. And I hope I can find a very involved caring vet in the future. ( if I can even rescue one at this point) I don’t blame the rescue I commend them for placing these dogs in the proper care, and would have liked to adopt and have my money go to them and their future rescues. Unfortunately today because of their lousy filing or whatever I was not able to have a new friend.

Sadly I couldn’t get in right away because of not being a new client there. Jenny the receptionist was very kind and helpful in providing me all the information she could! Asking around to get me the best possible answer to help me out, she was awesome. Would have been a 5 star but one of the other techs that answered was rude and told me to go to Piper memorial instead. Not being a patient matters more than my dogs well being, disappointing will not consider this place at all anymore!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Jay Haviar and his staff! They were extremely professional and helpful. They made us a priority and treated us like family! You can tell they have true love and passion for animals. I highly recommend them! Thank you again for fixing up Charlie!!

I brought my bunny there to get her nails clipped and they were so rough with her that they broke her back. When I told the veterinarian assistant what she did she defensively said "No I didn't, she was already like that" and rushed off. I was in such shock and couldn't believe what just happened. My bunny died a few days later. I hate this place and will never return.

The Vets here are amazing, very nice personable people. Each time I bring my dog in they are so friendly and always make sure all of my questions are answered to my understanding. The Vets themselves are the only reason I continue to bring my dog here. The staff on the other hand is another story, most of them I have felt with are very rude and maybe they are just always stressed and having a bad day but I always sense unnecessary attitude from the staff over the phone.other than that I love thisnplace. Just wish they would hire new staff.

I’ve taken my dogs here since they were puppies and their service has gotten increasingly bad, to the point where their manager treated us horribly last time we came here. They don’t genuinely care for your pet and just horrible customer service altogether. This was the last time with them, will be taking my dogs to a more diligent vet where they actually care.

My dog Tess had a heart murmur that would eventually be terminal . Dr Haviar was amazing along with staff. I took her to Florida this fall so she could enjoy her last 5 months in pleasant weather. Any time I had a question I would leave message and Dr Haviar would get back to me and treat us like family. He was amazing. At this stage of the game Im in Florida so there were no fees involved just a good person caring for a former customer in need. Absolutely amazing. I can't say enough about him. One of a kindJohn Kniejzneski

I called this vet's office to get a second opinion on a hypothyroidism diagnosis from my current vet. I'm reluctant to put my dog on life-long meds unless I know for sure she needs them. "Despite numerous testing options, accurate diagnosis of hypothyroidism is challenging." The receptionist Bre was really friendly! And Stef too! This office seems very organized and responsive to clients. A+ for friendly, competent staff! I spoke with Doctor Armstrong on the phone to explain why I wanted a second opinion. I found her to be friendly, and knowledgeable. She administered exactly what I requested. A+ in communication. I appreciated the open communication; there were no surprise add-ons to the bill. This is a common gripe between clients and veterinarians, which is why good communication is important. Nice animal hospital. At the end the technician came out to bring my dog back. She took the time to chat with me a little bit and that was very nice. :) I wish I could remember her name because she was so pleasant. It'll come to me once I stop trying to remember :]

Dr. Haviar has treated my rescue animals for sick care, preventative care, emergency surgery and spay and neuter surgery. All care was administered with expertise, kindness and compassion. He is a vet who truly cares about animals. Thank you for excellent care.
