they accommodated me to an upgrade due to the vehicle they gave me was damage from a previous renter, but on returning the vehicle. Their computers were down and the receptionist was not nice. She was rude, she needs better training. overall I still give avis a five star for them accommodating me.

Worst place, the office has a strange odor. Even though we had a confirmed reservation weeks beforehand for a car, when we showed up they didn't have any cars. They said they would call me when a car came in and they never did. Ended up renting from Hertz hours later after I gave up. 2 days later and still no call.

Gave me a dirty car which was apparently all they had. A company as big as Avis had only one car that they couldn't even manage to clean before handing it to me. Pathetic.

My experience at Avis in Stratford was awful. I called a few days prior to my reservation to confirm my vehicle and to make sure everything was in order so I can have a seamless pickup. The lady on the phone was very short and quick to get off the phone. On the day of my pickup, I get to the location and they tell me not only do they not have the vehicle, they don't have any vehicle in that class. I had to get a Minivan instead of the Premium SUV I reserved and I was told the vehicle was on the lot. The Minivan was not full on gas. The employees showed no empathy to my frustration. This was a very disappointing experience for my first time renting with Avis.

I had a very uncomfortable experience with the Older Black American Lady at the front desk of this location. I want to first start out by stating that I totally understand the safety issue with a renter providing a Credit card without a name on it. Chargebacks, fraud cases, etc are definitely understood since I deal with customer service in my field of work. I tried to educate the clerk by letting her know that I became a member for the "Avis For Business" program. I'm not sure if she was properly trained in regard to this program but I had to go through a strenuous process by providing business paperwork along with my company EIN numbers (which is just as sensitive to, if not more, credit cards). During this process, I was also instructed about a "contactless check in process in which my business credit card was already on file and all I would need to do is present my ID. I figured once I gave her my AWD #, Driver's License (which provides my identity and ownership of the business) and my business credit card (which my business bank does not provide personal names on the business cards) everything should have been validated to rent. The clerk gave me pushback. Another rep (Adam) was able to look in my profile and confirm everything I had just stated along with the system not providing any flags. Adam was able to accommodate me and allow me to rent. I strongly suggest AVIS educate all of their employees about the Avis For Business program and the process business owners have to endure so clerks understand the severity of the rewards program. If Adam was not there, my Thanksgiving would have been ruined and I probably would've lost out on business due to an uneducated employee. Which Ive never ran into this issue at the Stratford, CT Location, especially when Zee (former supervisor) was there. Zee was actually the rep that help me set up my business rewards account through Avis

Prepaid for a rental from this location a few days prior. Received email confirmation the morning of my pick up, took an Uber, walked in, and before the door could even close behind me, I hear the woman at the counter scream “we have no cars”! I asked how will I be refunded since I prepaid, she directs me to “take it up with customer service”. Then walks away to help a customer (who apparently must have received the last car Avis could possibly have available ever). Now I’m out an Uber ride there and back and had to wait on hold for an hour to get refunded. Needless to say I will never return to this location and was possibly one of the last (attempted) times renting with Avis.

Awful experience. I was charged an extra $500 for a “heavy smoke smell” despite never smoking or having passengers in the car.Beware, there are scam artists working at this location.

Completely unhappy with the condition of the vehicle i was rented.Rear window has extremely dark aftermarket tints and rear passager windowsWindshield has residue from removing tintLicense plate is covered with tintCar filled with garbage under the seatSmoking paraphernalia ( smoking papers, and a small scale ) also left in vehicleUpon showing these concerns with the agent at the rental facilityI was told there is nothing else available and i was forced to take thus vehicleEven after calling customer there was still no cars availableVery upsetting and unpleasantly experience especially since i make it a point to rent from this location regularly

Please do not rent at this location. Ive had multiple instances in the past here where Ive been charged an addl hr fee egregiously without being notified in person that this fee would be charged. Just recently, I dealt with a woman at this location that has “been there for 5 years” and incorrectly explained that the grace period for rental return is 15 minutes, when it reality, it is 29 minutes. Not to mention my ticketed pickup time was incorrect because I had to wait an addl 30 minutes for the car to come from another location. When this was explained to the woman employee of 5 years, it was met with a rude, dismissive and unprofessional attitude, and most importantly, incorrect information on the grace period. As an Avis Preferred member for “5+ years,” I undoubtedly will not be picking up or dropping off at this location ever again. Fortunately, I was given a refund on the egregious fee after calling the Avis customer service line.

Do yourself a favor and pay close attention to the negative reviews of the Avis in Stratford, CT so you can save yourself the headache and frustration of dealing with these terrible, unprofessional people. If you do decide to book a reservation here, you can expect two things: 1.) They will not have any cars. Doesn't matter if you have a reservation, doesn't matter if you have Preferred status. For whatever reason, they never have cars available. 2.) You will be treated with absolute disregard as if you're the one who did something wrong by booking there in the first place. The staff members I've encountered there act like they're imprisoned or something. If you're so miserable here, find another job!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Avis of Stratford CT, and I must say it was one of the worst businesses I have ever encountered. My dissatisfaction with this place knows no bounds, as they have consistently taken reservations only to inform me upon arrival that no cars were available and the my discount code from my company wasn't accepted there. This absurd situation has happened to me multiple times, and to make matters worse, no effort was made to rectify the issue or provide any accommodations. As a local resident trying to support a local business, I am appalled by their lack of professionalism.The staff at Avis of Stratford CT are shockingly uninformed about their own business, leading them to provide customers with incorrect information. It is truly frustrating to receive misleading advice and directions from the very people who should be knowledgeable about their services. On top of that, they had the audacity to charge me a mind-boggling $150 for canceling a reservation after they themselves instructed me to. Resolving this matter and reclaiming my money required a significant amount of time and effort, adding further insult to injury.Furthermore, their online reservation system. How can they allow customers to make reservations online, only to discover upon reaching the counter that there are no cars available? It is an unacceptable practice. Despite being promised a seamless booking process, the reality is a complete letdown. Avis of Stratford CT displays a severe lack of competence and customer care.To add insult to injury, my corporate discount, which should have been honored, was inexplicably rejected without any explanation. This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction is simply inexcusable.Throughout the rental process, I encountered a litany of other incidents that would be comical if they were not so frustrating. However, the instances I have highlighted here should serve as a warning to anyone considering renting from Avis of Stratford CT.My experience with Avis of Stratford CT was beyond disappointing.
