I went to the JCPenney Salon this past weekend with my daughter for an updo, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. I was part of a small wedding where the bride hadn’t done a group booking with her stylist, and my usual stylist wasn’t available at her salon. I’d used JCPenney years ago and had a fine experience, so I figured I’d give it another try.
I asked for a simple half updo since my hair is on the shorter side — nothing complicated, just a bit of volume with some braids or twists on top and loose, beachy waves. I should have known things weren’t going to go well when, before we even started, what I believe was a manager came over to ask if the stylist was comfortable doing it.
The stylist didn’t listen to any of my requests. I repeatedly asked her to curl my hair away from my face, but she kept curling inward, and it looked awful. I also mentioned that my hair is thin, which any experienced stylist would know requires some texturizing spray, powder, or even dry shampoo to help hold curls. She didn’t use any of those, and instead kept re-curling the same pieces without any heat protectant — a huge red flag. By the time I got home, most of the curls had completely fallen flat. I ended up washing my hair and redoing it myself before the wedding.
My daughter’s hair (she was a flower girl) also had issues. She has long, wavy hair, and we asked for two French-style braids leading into a bubble ponytail. The original stylist couldn’t do it, so the manager took over. She didn’t do the braids but did manage to make it look somewhat cute — though honestly, I could have done it myself.
Overall, the lack of skill, communication, and willingness to listen was really disappointing. I know better now, but I won’t be returning to their salon again. A waste of $140.

I needed a miracle. Reggie consulted and fixed my color. Gave me confidence back. Gave me a cut but with natural curls we had to see how it goes. Went back 6 wks later, Reggie's wasn't available so they referred Samantha whom they said is familiar with cutting natural curls and YES she was! Highly recommend Both. Thank you both for saving my hair!❤️❤️

I initially went in to get 4 inches of regrowth bleach to match my already damaged hair. It seemed like an impossible job. The manager / owner made sure that I came out looking at 100 times better than I said walking in. Good prices and friendly staff would definitely recommend!

I wish I can give Zero stars! Get an appointment canceled the same day and don’t have nobody to replace it says a lot of a business. Very disappointing. First time and last one.

Teri is a talented, highly experienced stylist that did a Keratin treatment that transformed my frizzy, curly hair into straight, smooth and frizz-free shiny hair.
She also explained the after treatment steps and recommended products to maintain it.
I’m so happy to found this amazing stylist that will also do my highlights and color gloss.
Teri is the absolute best!

Lazy and unhelpful staff. If I had another option to return I would do it to avoid having to be in store with such miserable employees. And this is a reason the mall culture is barely hanging by a thread.

Extremely dissatisfying customer service experience. I had scheduled a portrait appointment five days ahead of time, but received a call two days before the appointment stating that the originally booked time couldn't be accommodated. They assured me they would contact me with a suggested alternative, but unfortunately, they never followed through with that promise. Frustratingly, my attempts to reach out to the store went unanswered as no one would respond.

I can’t speak on all of the stylists but Maggie and Doris are AMAZING! I have been a loyal customer for 20 years and would not let anyone else touch my hair. I can not recommend either of them more, you will be extremely satisfied! Maggie & Doris are hands down, THE BEST!Services: Hairstyling

I highly recommend Reggie, he is extremely talented. I told him what I was looking for and he exceeded my expectations. I felt like a new person walking out of the salon. He is very friendly and such an easy person to talk to, you can tell he has a passion for styling. From the haircut to the color I couldn't be happier!! Reggie pays attention to detail and is honest, he will not tell you he can do something that's impossible. The salon is always very clean!! It can be hard to find, if you follow the signs towards returns and photos you will find it on the 1st floor.Definitely book an appointment with Reggie.
