I haven’t been tot he eye doctor in many years (far longer than I should’ve waited). I was really unhappy with the last couple of places that I went to, so I kept putting it off….I realized I was having trouble seeing close as well as seeing far. I decided I needed to go get an exam. My pcp told me she went there, so I booked an appointment. Booking a slot was a piece of cake. There were multiple providers to choose from. I selected Matt, because he had a slot open towards the end of the day, when I had time.A few days before, a man named Paul called to get all of my insurance info to make sure I didn’t have to take care of that during my appointment.I walked in and the place was very clean and modern. Everyone was very courteous and seemed happy (which means they must have good management).A very nice woman gave me a case for my contact lenses and did the pre exam with me. Then Matt came in and introduced himself as Matt. Very nice guy, and listened to my concerns. He gave me different options for contact lenses based on what my insurance would cover. The exam didn’t take long at all. We decided that translations glasses, and contact lenses with cheaters for reading would be my best options. When the exam was over, Matt brought me out to the lobby and introduced me to a woman with long hair (I didn’t get her name). She ordered me the contact lenses I needed and assisted me in getting glasses. She explained how the transitions would be different and how I would need to look through them to get the best results.A few days later I got a text message telling me my eyewear was in and to stop by anytime to pick them up.I showed up without an appointment and was given my eyewear quickly. The woman with long hair also had me try on my glasses and showed me how to use the new transitions…I’ve been wearing glasses and contact lenses for over 30 years. I’ve never had a pair of glasses that I really thought looked good on me (I’m tall, dorky, and bald, so there isn’t a lot that goes well with that combo). However, this is probably the first time where I’m happy with a pair of glasses on my head. Perhaps I won’t keep these in a drawer like all of my past pairs of glasses and will actually wear these.

I’ve not had the best experiences here. One time I came in and the girl who was supposed to assist me with picking out glasses basically did nothing for me. This last time, I drove a half hour for my appointment with construction on the highway, I arrived 6 mins late and they wouldn’t take me. What a waste of gas!! I will be finding another place to get my eyes checked from now on!

This is my first time using My Eye Dr. I have worn glasses since I was a child over 40 years. I switched due to us moving to Vernon Ct. I have had my glasses for a few months. I purchased scratch resistant lenses. Both lenses were scratched within the first month. I took them back and had them replaced. Now a month later another lens is scratched. I am careful and have never had issues with lenses being scratched before. I can usually stretch to two years before getting a new pair. Since I used the warranty already and their response was, "sorry but you used your warranty. It must be something you are doing and not the coating." So, sorry not sorry response. I have glasses I cannot use due to a scratched lens.Never again.

I refuse to do business with companies that still require masks. They required a mask to be worn to see Dr. But no masks were required in waiting room area by staff or patients. Makes no sense, I guess Covid can only be spread while with Dr.

This place is just trying to get every little penny out of each person who comes in. I was not offered the free dilation, but instead up charged (without my knowledge) for photos. I paid an expensive contact lense fitting fee for contacts that fell out of my eyes multiple times on my drive home. Clearly not the right contacts for me. The doctor was 25 minutes behind and rushed through our appt not telling me anything and clearly not checking to see that everything fit well and was comfortable. I asked multiple times for a copy of my prescription but was repeatedly just told to get contacts/glasses at their location (way expensive). It was the most expensive and also worst eye exam I have ever had in my 10+ years of wearing contacts. do not come here

I fell like I’m constantly being up sold. I think the doctor is really nice, but depending on which one, they are going to make recommendations that you may not be able to afford and shame and pressure you if you can’t - especially when trying to pick out glasses - everything is an upsell!! And when you say no - they make you feel really uncomfortable!! . 90% of the staff behaves arrogantly. In all it’s an unpleasant experience. I don’t ordinarily write poor reviews unless I’ve given a business three or even four opportunities (unless it was really, really bad - and as such, I’ve never done).

I’ve been seeing Dr. Steciak for a few years now, and he is the best eye doctor I’ve ever had. He’s personable, listens well, and is always on time for my appointments. The front desk staff is also very polite and courteous. Terry is also very helpful in picking out frames and ordering contacts. Great staff!

If you just want a convenient eye dr, you’ll find what you need here. Main stream so appointments can be made online, not super difficult. Doctors are good, know what they’re doing. This is my second annual visit, and I once again feel off put by the sales person. I’ve had the same girl two years in a row and as a broke college student, I feel like I am inconveniencing her by not being able to spend 700 dollars out of pocket on contact lenses. She drops large figures like it’s no biggie and it just kind of off puts my entire experience. On paper the place is fine, I just feel like I am expected to be able to drop any amount of money. Not sure if they work off of commission but I feel definitely embarrassed (when I should not be I am a full time college student) by my financial situation in this office.

I’m not sure who I got on the phone but she was so incredibly rude, I don’t normally do the whole rating thing but if I could give zero stars to the talcottville rd location I would!!

The best experience at an eye doctor ever. The women at the front desk exceeded my expectations!

This is my third year going to My Eye Dr for my annual exam. Prior to this year I’ve never had a problem. The front desk staff are polite and incredibly helpful and welcoming. The opticians are kind and always amazing helping me find new frames. This year I saw a new doctor (Dr. A) in the practice and I will not be returning to her and would advise you to see any other doctor in the practice as well. She was running behind for my appointment (not at all a big deal, completely expected, and I don’t mind). One of the techs had me go look at frames instead of having me sit in the waiting room. When time for my appointment, Dr. A was short with me as if I was the one holding her up.She rushed through my exam, casually delivered TERRIBLE news to me about my eyes and then left me in a dark room by myself to tend to another patient.Completely freaked me out and made it seem that it was the greatest emergency on earth without actually explaining anything to me and even said it was an emergency.I saw an ophthalmologist today (on my own, not recommended by her) who reassured me that my diagnosis was very mild and very treatable, and NOT an emergency.0/5 starts for Dr. A.
