self checkout was excruciating as almost every item was some kind of unlabeled exception to simply scanning the item. Attendant was insulting and rude to us about requests for help
A mother & her child were checking out at the same time as us, & were similarly experiencing many problems scanning their items. The kid was calm / trying to help his mom.
It was extremely uncalled for and nasty for the self checkout attendant to loudly insult the child by asking a coworker to agree with her that “2014 children are insufferable”. Clearly her attitude is not a one-off incident. The mother handled it much more nicely than I would have.
normal prices / quality / stock for a stop & shop (not my first choice of grocery store). Was not worth it to go through all this to pick up a few items on sale

Do not go to this store until they fix the parking lot. They attempted to fix large bad spots by the number 3 and 4 (Bring it out to my car) parking spots. The amount of rubberized tar patch is in big blocks there. Weeks ago it was done. The first week it was down my front tire picked up a large piece of it. I noticed a noise thumping from my tire and the balance was off causing my steering to shake. I spent an hour trying to scrape it off as it now sealed to my tire. I complained at the customer service who said they would tell the manager. Recently which is weeks later, i had to avoid a person and my front tire crossed the patch again and again a large amount was lifted off again and glued to my front tire. The store manager needs to be replaced with someone who listens to their customers and fixes issues.!!!!!

I like the store. The people are friendly, but I can’t buy much here because they have one handicap cart and it only went to Isles terrible I go to many other stores is the only one that has this problem.

This place has gone downhill so bad in the past few years. I've shopped here 11yr now mind you. The older staff here are very unprofessional. Closing managers and also the cashier named Kathy. Closing manager (short gray hair older lady) can be overheard huffing and puffing and swearing about last minute shoppers. As we walked in I got to hear "Are you f'n kidding" Wow. Furthermore, this store hides the wireless scan guns forcing you to spend MORE time entering in stuff or lift heavy items to scan them. Hire security if you have theft issues so bad you can't have scan guns out. If Kathy won't lift a package of water why should I have to? My interaction with Kathy made me never want to step foot in this Stop and Shop again. When I walked away displeased she proceeded to crack a joke about me to the shopper behind me? Really? Absolutely rude, disrespectful behavior. DO BETTER. I will be leaving a review with the BBB as well and contacting corporate. Never again.

Great store and personable cashier's. Went to Big Y they won't scan card for discount, told me to take my business elsewhere.

Certain older front end employees behave poorly here. One supervisor in particular has inappropriate conversations loudly and publicly, either swearing or violent topics. Sometimes the paging announcements sound angry. At least two of them are frequently quick and insistent to turn customers away within twenty minutes of closing. The hyper sensitive sco flagged us due to a random weight issue and when employee scrutinized us rather unnecessarily on their surveillance videos, they had a suspicious tone with us. I've shopped here for ten years and their younger staff are never unprofessional in comparison.
