My Dad always warned me about Poolman Pools that they were noy good people! Well, I stopped in to get some plugs and a new skimmer baskets and was talking with the young man who was assisting me. I asked about a new pool cover for a pool that installed 25 years ago, out of nowhere this lady pops out and snaps off, We don't service above ground pools anymore and can't get covers for them!! I was absolutely dumb founded. I placed everything on the counter and walked out, this lady should be fired with such a shitty attitude. SPLASH POOLS in South Windsor hooked me up with a very nice pool cover, new skimmer basket, plugs, and 2 new hoses. My Dad was right, Poolman Pools has never changed, still the same shitty attitude.

First year using Vernon Poolman to service my 45 yr old pool. Service exceeded my expectations. They repaired a piece that the previous service provider broke and left everything very neat after closing the pool for the season.

We had our pool installed about 2 years ago by Vernon Pools. When Vernon Poolman opened the pool this year the workers accidentally broke our fence. What should have been an easy fix was not handled right at all. I was told by the owner their fence people would be out to fix the issue. Then I was asked a week later who installed our fence. When they found out it wasn’t their installer it suddenly was not something they could fix. Owner Chris came to our home unannounced and examined the fence and determined on his own that it was the installation of our fence, not damage caused by his workers. We were essentially told that since we didn’t use their installer, their company could not fix the issue. Owner Kate said they could try to fix it themselves…. but said they don’t really work on fences… so that didn’t make sense. Which was ironic as her husband and owner Chris is the one who examined our fence. We were then basically told we should have used their installer, and this would not have happened and that the earth could have moved the posts. It’s a black and white situation. Our fence was fine, their workers came to our home and broke it. The way Chris spoke to my husband as an owner of this company was extremely unprofessional. When my husband questioned him, he asked my husband how many fences he has installed…. My husband hung up on him to end the call as it was going nowhere and we never heard from anyone again. It’s not even about the fence. Both of our parents used this company when we were kids, and it was great. Honestly, it’s been nothing but issues since installation, with the fiber glass pool cracking after 1 season and all around a lack of communication. Unprofessionalism and lack of accountability seem to be a common thread with the new management of this company.

Very little to no knowledge of how to diagnose and fix problems

Called this place about getting new sand in an in-ground pool. I was speaking with the owner possibly or someone in management, and I was describing our issue with the pool and he gave us advice that solved the problem. Where a lot of these other pool stores try to sell something, this person genuinely wanted to help us without us spending a dime. We decided to get our sand changed with Vernon Poolman and the service was professional and the techs were VERY knowledgeable. They even found a leak in our pool that TWO other pool companies did not!! They plugged the leak, fixed other minor issues, and were in and out for the sand change in just over an hour. The final price matched the quote. We have never been treated better by a pool company, we cannot thank you enough. Job well done! - a happy new customer

Vernon Poolman had to come back multiple times to fix our pool filter this year. Twice when they were here the technician left the pump backwashing. The first time it emptied our inground pool. Fortunately the second time we were able to catch it before the pool emptied. Poolman took no accountability for this. They kept telling us it wasn't their fault. They refused to compensate us for the water which we needed to purchase to refill the pool. Vernon Poolman had been our go to company for the past 25 years. Looks like it is time for us to find a new pool company.

My in ground pool was installed by Vernon Poolman. Recently the pool required technical service to diagnose and resolve a continual loss of water in the pool. The Vernon Poolman technicians arrived within the time window given, and set about to methodically determine the source of the leak. After testing the water lines, they moved on to the skimmers. They found a significant crack in the bottom of one skimmer, which was likely caused by winter ice expansion. They advised me of the problem, and thoroughly discussed the options to resolve it. I gave them the green light to proceed with the least disruptive option, and 30 minutes later the leak was resolved. I have always received excellent service from Vernon Poolman , and would recommend them to anyone thinking about about installing a pool, or in the need for maintenance.

We would not recommend Vernon poolman, especially to potential homebuyers or new pool owners. My husband found a crack in the skimmer box that was missed on inspection. We were offered a 'free' closing (after paying for an inspection that was not thorough), and then a discount off the repair job. The water level was dropped more than it normally would out of season to pour concrete. After calling to discuss what would be done due to the added cost of refilling the pool with our well, we canceled the opening and will no longer do business with them. There was no consideration of the fact that we spent time and resources to get the pool running last year including filling and treating the water without awareness of the crack, and what mattered to the owner was the labor and cost to the company only. The lack of professionalism for something that cost us more than 2000 dollars at the end of the day was very disappointing.

Leeeeegit an all around great experience working with Poolman in putting in a pool at our property. From the first chat with Kate and her being incredibly informative and so chill in discussing our options (we were absolutely clueless in all aspects of a pool and she was so patient with us), to Walter, Chris and their incredible crews that did the site work and construction to Debbie helping us with our questions and water samples.... absolutely magical peeps. They made sure everything was done 100% and totally weren't kidding when they say "Poolman perfect". 10/10 would absolutely recommend them for such a project. So grateful for all their expertise and truly making our backyard amazing.

I called them regarding a replacement of the motor on my pool pump. I took the pump assembly right in and they took care of it very promptly. Can't fault them in this regard however when it came time for the bill, I was completely taken advantage of. The motor costs $250.00 on the internet and I'm sure I can purchase it locally for about the same price however they charged me $699.00 plus tax to replace which to me means I was charged about 450.00 for labor. It took them less than an hour to replace the motor. I won't do business with them every again and advise people to take your business elsewhere.

Every year when I opened my pool it typically takes 5-6 bags of salt to achieve proper levels. This year, they changed their salt supplier and after 8 bags, salt levels were still low. In addition, the salt was light brown. After the salt dissolved, I cleaned out 1/2 gallon of sand so this salt must have had impurities in it (guessing that's the reason for the brown tint). If you look online, you will see plenty of poor reviews for this brand. Plus, they charge $20 for a 40lb bag while their local competitor (Julianos) charges only $13 for pure white salt. Poolman is charging over 50% more! They charge 12% more than Amazon which has to deliver it to your door. I'm not buying my pool supplies at this business anymore.

Someone driving a vernon poolman vehicle passed me at very high speed attempting to beat traffic on the highway before the lane ended. It was a very unsafe maneuver but at least they saved a few seconds in getting to their destination. This tells me they are all about efficiency and care how they spend their time!
