The whole experience was ruined by a rude cashier named Adriana. She really shouldn’t be dealing with customers if she has an attitude for no reason. Shop another location.

This experience has been nothing short of terrible. The attitude received from the cashier, Nella, was just downright unnecessary. I had one item, but I was forced to use this register because their self checkout does not accept cash, legal tender of the United States. Not only this, but she also referred to me as a r***** as she forcefully demanded I put my one item on the belt.
Valerie at the receipt check, was amazing and always is.

I’m a huge Costco fan and have visited locations all over the country. Today was my first time at the Waterbury location, and honestly, it was pretty underwhelming.
Right from the start, I was met at the entrance by a very serious greeter who gave off strong *Barney Fife* energy. He insisted on checking my membership card—not just a quick glance but a full-on inspection. I must have passed the test because he finally let me in. Not sure why this location doesn’t have the standard scanners like every other Costco, but oh well.
Once inside, the first thing that hit me was the smell. I don’t know if it was the store, the people, or something else entirely, but it was... unpleasant. It lingered everywhere, and I couldn’t ignore it.
Shopping itself was fine, but at self-checkout, I noticed something odd. At other Costcos, employees usually assist with scanning large items—especially when it’s not busy. Not here. I had to lift everything myself, which wasn’t a huge deal, just surprising.
Then came the real low point— the bathroom. I don’t think it’s been cleaned since the store first opened. Stained seats, filthy stalls, overflowing trash cans... it was rough. I hate to say it, but the whole experience felt more *Walmart* than *Costco*.
Costco corporate might want to take a closer look at this location because it’s definitely not up to the usual standard

Nothing New to say about Costco. Loyal member for over 20 years. Has become crowded off late all the time. Hope they will consider opening another branch nearby.

This store is pretty nice. It has a big selection and good sales. However, I do not appreciate being the only one asked for a Costco card at self checkout. Multiple people were in line in front of me and none of them had their Costco card checked. I do not know what makes me any different. Furthermore, the worker snatched my Costco card out of my hand to check the back of it to see my picture. She examined it throughly, then let me check out. If Costco cards need to be checked before checkout then I think it should apply to all and not just some. I don’t appreciate being singled out.

Busy around the time we went, though this store almost always remains clean, easy to walk through, and continues to offer samples.
Plenty of staff and cashiers in case you need help, always something to find on sale.
