Marrianne, Gabby, and Cass took phenomenal care of my girls and I on my wedding day! Not only did they make everyone look and feel stunning, but they also worked like a well oiled machine and finished my group of 9 way ahead of schedule. My hair style was very intricate and involved day of cutting, with an innumerable amount of curl clips and extensions. That hair style held from the moment Marre finished (roughly 12p) and continued to hold until I took everything out around 2am. I could not be more pleased by my choice to work with these amazing women on my wedding day.

This is one of my favorite pizza places in New Haven -- Yes I've tried them all! LOOOOVE the mashed potato pizza here. It's a MUST. Pieces of bacon along with MASHED PURTURTUR on top. Always call ahead to order a pie and pick up because they get really busy!

Came here for dinner and had an incredible experience! The restaurant has a good ambience and decor and service was good. We got a salad and a couple pizzas - you can add your own toppings and even divide the pizza into halves or quarters or eighths - whatever you want! The pizza was delicious and tasted perfect - hands down one of the best pizzas I've ever had! Can't wait to come back!

I have been to bar more than 50 times in my lifetime and every experience is different. My most recent visit was amazing. I had their version of a expresso martini and three of their specialty pizzas! I tried to google a menu so I could refer you to the exact names of the items we ordered but I was unsuccessful in finding a menu for them. We went a couple weeks before Christmas so it was very busy and festive with decorations. They also offer beer flights, and a specialty holiday cocktail menu. We started with a delicious salad, shared three medium pies between 4 people with excess to take home and we passed on dessert. Unsure if they had a dessert menu as I left so full from the pizza I didn't even think to ask!

Came by to BAR after a work visit. The salad was amazing! It had pears, blue cheese, and pecans! Skip the mashed potato pizza. I found my potatoes to be chunky rather than on the smooth creamy side. Order the brisket pizza! My coworker ordered that one and the bbq brisket was soft and tender, bbq was tangy and you also got a little bit of heat from the jalepeno.

A great neighborhood pizza place. Pepe's and Sally's are too far without a car. Besides, I understand the owner used to work for Sally's.

Now I can say I have tried the Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and the Pope of New Haven pizza. Is it a pub? A nightclub? A restaurant? A microbrewery? It might as well be all of the above! Suggesting that this the weakest of the four well known pizzerias in New Haven would be an understatement. They all are very good, to some degree. You just have to find the crevices in them to find which one is best. I got two pies, a standard mozzarella and their famed mashed potato pie, because the latter is incredibly popular here. The mashed potato pie, weird as it sounds, is delicious. However, after three slices, you realize why mashed potato and pizza do not go hand in hand. It makes you hit a wall, hard. Boy do you feel it. The mozzarella pie is delicious. Great sauce, good crust, and you get plenty of both in each slice. I could have easily finished this whole pie. I did not like how both pies cool real fast. Like only after a minute after it hits the serving table it is already cooling. Cold pizza is something I do not enjoy. If you are looking for something to eat with a group, this works well, especially for those poor Yale college students.

I can honestly say I've never been to a place like this. Pizza, dance club, brewery? Who knows. Very lively and great for a Saturday night. I was convinced to try the mashed potato bacon pizza which sounds crazy but is actually delicious. It's not something I could have a lot of but a couple of slices were great. Their salad was also delicious and worth a try. And of course I loved my regular old pepperoni. It's a good spot to check out if you're in the area.

The best pizza in New Haven! We absolutely love the mashed potato and bacon pizza! The perfect combination of salty and savory. The whole family was impressed.

The vibe here is so confusing but I am so here for it. Part dance party, part pizzeria - I've come for both purposes and bar is actually quite good at both. For me the pizza is the real star of the show. It's very New Haven style and very good. Shoutout to the delicious mashed potato pie! Pizzas are made to order and if you're vegetarian and don't want meat, they don't charge you for it, which is refreshing. I've also come to dance before and had a great time. The space was large and had fun lights and an elevated dj booth. The dj was also good and very receptive to requests. The only weird thing I find off-putting is how aggressively they ID here, even if you're just coming for pizza and are clearly of age. I'm not sure what you put in that pie, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't necessitate my drivers license going through a TSA style scanner. The pizza is good enough it's worth it though.

Finally came here for the first time a few months ago when we happened to be in the area. We didn't have to wait too long for a table, but I imagine there being significant lines on weekend nights and such. We decided to get their signature potato pie and we got a few beers off of their pretty sizable draft list. Their signature potato pie was delicious and well worth getting. We got it with broccoli instead of bacon, so I'm not sure how the latter would taste, but the former was amazing. Would definitely recommend for others to try out if they happen to come here as well.

(Last visited 11/21/2021.) After brunching at Barracuda in downtown New Haven we hung out for a while in the park, but now it's dinnertime and we're still here! Lol. My fiancée had mentioned visiting BAR back in her hay-day so she wanted to show me the ropes. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place has such a presence inside and out. It's a staple in the downtown New Haven area so this place was pretty busy. The ceilings are so high and it felt like there were too main sections to this restaurant. There was the left side which is the bar area and much more lively then there was the right area which was more toned down. The big garage doors that open right out to the sidewalk were closed since it was cold, but it looked so industrial inside which was a pretty cool touch. There were big beer vats kinda stationed around, but I'm unsure if they actually brew their own beer here. They must, right? It's definitely a place to come and party for sure! Service: We sat at the bar and Jerry was our bartender. He took excellent care of us. He was funny, had an uplifting personality and just was an all-around fun person to have. Food: So... we were here around the time of Thanksgiving and there were whispers of a "Thanksgiving Pizza". C'mon man. How can we not get this? Lol. BAR is known for their pizzas being thin, crispy and cooked "New Haven" style, so we went for it! This thing came out and it was huge. On it was pulled turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy then sprinkled with cranberry sauce. It was actually quite magical. I had never had anything like it before and I absolutely loved how all of the ingredients went together, like a plate of food that you cook home from a Thanksgiving. Value: The pizza was only $21.00 and I think that was an incredible value. I'm very interested in coming to check this place out in the future to see what some of their signature pizzas are all about! If you made it this far in the review, I appreciate you reading. Please do me a favor and head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and subscribe! My channel features a lot of food, car and exclusive shoe related content! You can copy and paste the following link into your browser and it'll take you right to my page! Help me grow! " Thank you so much!

BAR is a New Haven-style pizzeria, craft brewpub, and nightclub that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in 1991. It is currently co-owned by Frank Patrick, who began as a bartender in 1991 before becoming a manger and then finally co-owner. BAR originally opened as a bar and dance club. In 1996, a brick oven and pizza kitchen were added as well as a microbrewery system dubbed the Brü Room. BAR began specializing in New Haven-style thin crust pizza which is known to locals as "apizza" (pronounced ah-BEETZ). Brothers Leo and Gustavo Rojas are the longtime pizzaioli who bake hundreds of pies each day. One specialty pie that was likely invented at BAR is the "Mashed Potato & Bacon" Pie. This has gone on to become one of the most popular pizzas to be found at pizzerias in the Greater New Haven area. A longtime brewmaster at the Brü Room was Jeff Browning before he left to become a partner at Brewport. The current brewmaster is David Wood. I've visited BAR more times than I can count over the years. They are one of the best pizzerias in New Haven. I never tried a Mashed Potato pie until I tried the original at BAR. I thought it sounded so strange at first; now it's one of my favorite pies to get at any pizzeria. They also make an excellent salad (made with seasonal greens, sliced pear, caremelized pecans, crumbled blue cheese, light vinaigrette dressing) and their beer is excellent. I recently visited BAR for a Yelp Event where attendees were treated to some pizza and beer. The pies we sampled included Plain Tomato, Plain Mozzarella, Margherita, and Mashed Potato & Bacon. We also sampled some of their refreshing Watermelon Beer which paired well with the pizza. It's always a great time at BAR!
