This review is for public but for those who run the Children's Museum. What happened!? It just feels like its run by people who lost interest or dont care about the place anymore.I used to go as a child, I worked there as a teenager and into college, and now im older and sometimes bring my own kids...not as much anymore, I used to be able to give it 5 stars, I'm giving 2 but that's generous!!I loved this place and its sad watching it go downhill over the years. I'm not sure how they can call it a museum anymore, no funds going to "exbihits." They used to have electronic moving life-size dinosaurs with fun interactive exhibits that had facts and things to learn from, that time money and effort was put into creating and maintaining, but NOW it seems like they aren't putting any time effort or money into the place... Their dinosaur exhibit today is a small room with a few plastic kid sized dino toys and a couple plaques with info on dinosaurs movies and pictures. The other exhibits aren't much better unfortunately.I understand they're relocating and are temporarily in a synogue basement (temp really meaning for years as they have no plans on an actual place yet) but they just don't put anything into their museum anymore, it's turned into a low budget Playspace for very young children. I recently visited the Science museum in Hartford and there's no comparison as the one in Hartford is a REAL museum with real quality exhibits... the "exhibits" that the Childrens Museum used to have in the past that made it a museum (that for some reason they got rid of) I now see such exhibits at the Hartford Science museum. The children's museum has been downsizing over the years, but too much to still charge as do and call a museum, just very few props left that only take the kids attention for a couple minutes, nothing relevant or entertaining or even very educational anymore. Its just so unfortunate! It just feels like its run by people who lost interest or dont care about the place anymore. It's like then Children museum is no more and now theyre overcharging peoole to see some low quality remnents of what it used to be!! Sad to say but its the honest truth.

If I could review 0 stars I would. It was $30 for my mother in law and I to get in with my 2 year old and 3 month old. The temporary location isn't handicap accessible which also means it's not at all stroller friendly. In the basement of an old school, I had to carry my stroller up a flight of stairs to get in the building and another to get to the "exhibits". There are 2 dinosaur rooms connected by an open door and 4 concrete stairs. I myself didn't realize there were 4 stairs there until I reached the doorway and by that time my excited toddler had already began running and tripped/fell down the first stair, getting a serious bruise under his eye and a huge knot on his forehead. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Why is this place not child proofed accordingly. When I brought it up to a staff member, they gave us an ice pack and said "oh yeah that doorway doesn't stay closed" as if they were already aware of that issue. I know its a temporary location but why would you choose such a poor location and not bother to make it stroller accessible or even just SAFE for toddlers and young children which it's obviously geared towards. And the price for what was offered was ridiculous. We will not be returning after that, even once they find a new permanent location.

The new location is truly a poor experience for kids. Not entertaining one bit. It’s a basement with a couple of rooms with very limited activities. My son saw/did everything there was in about 15 mins. It is not worth the price, at the current location.

Went there today with my 4 girls, such a calm environment full of a lot of educational stuff. They have so many little animals, and they show you how they are fed certain times of the day, which is pretty cool to see and learn about! All I can say is it could use a bit more things to do, other than that it was very enjoyable

Only go if you have free tickets. We spent about 15 minutes here. It is currently just a building with a few activities as they are waiting to find a new location for the real museum. Definitely DO NOT SPEND MONEY TO GO HERE! They should warn you before you go

Kids had fun, especially when it was time to feed the animals, other than that it has couple of rooms for the kids to play in.

The place is currently at a church/synagogue and school. There are a few rooms set up in the basement where you are allowed to be. The rooms are classrooms that have been cleared out and a few objects are in each room. A couple rooms have animals. The classroom walls and floors are dreary and boring. Its not a place I'd recommend going for inspiration, life giving, or a hopeful place. I'd rather be out in nature than in a place like this.

I guess this place deserves one star… I may have put 0 stars if it was an option, but the photos of this place are either outdated or a completely different place because this was nothing like the photos. It was $45 for 2 adults and a child to walk through the basement hallway of an old repurposed school building. They had animals in displays that you could freely walk through petco to see… we were very disappointed. Not fun at all…. The hands on things for kids were alright I guess but again nothing like what it shows in the photos…. Really weird. And overpriced.

Stopped by while I was visiting a friend graduating from UConn this weekend and absolutely enjoyed bringing my 2 kiddos! My oldest really enjoyed the snakes and turtles, as well as the toy campfire.

So as a family of six… it was $90.00!After the age of 2 they are considered adult ticket. Which are at $15 a ticket. First of all the website is very misleading, because there is no butterfly Pavilion, a lot of the animals that are listed on the website are no longer there. There is no big statue of the whale outside as it was seen in the pictures in the website. The auditorium was off-limits and that’s a picture that I saw on the website. I saw some other pictures as well with really cool things that are interactive for kids that were not there as well. Literally bag of bones building. Some of the animals were cool. But nothing special that you’ve already not seen somewhere else.. The museum itself is located in the basement! And it feels like a basement too. The top floor is a pre school I believe. SMH. If I knew that the website was so misleading I would never ever gone there. It is not worth $90 at all. Save your money!!!! Trust me!

Should be a huge disclaimer on the website that this museum is intended for kids 3 years old and younger...before they have the speaking abilities to articulate, "I'm bored." Cold, dingy basement of a synagogue with a hallway lined with classrooms littered with outdated and even broken toys. Took my 6yo, 4yo, and 16 mos old there and paid $30... with a BOGO library pass! Total rip off. I worked really hard to make the visit as exciting as I could for them however they couldn't be fooled. My kids left highly disappointed...especially after visiting the Science Center on Sunday which is worth every penny. Don't be tricked by their fun and colorful website, find another activity to do with your kids. Place is a huge let down. The worst children's museum I've ever been to.

This place is such a disappointment. We drove more than 2 hrs from out of state. The place is more like a daycare/mini pet store. It charges $15 per person. We spent less than 1 hr at the place. Do not trust any of the review photos from months or years ago. At this new location, there are no outside status, no butterfly garden. As for indoor, there is no playroom with the blue gigantic play blocks or the light panel with different color lights and the planetarium is closed. I don't know how the admission price is justified.

The staff is very friendly so I would not want to take away from what they do but this museum is a far cry from what it was in the other location. This location is completely low budget and felt like a complete rip off at $15 per person. For a family of 3 I am slightly embarrassed that I paid $45 dollars for this experience. They really need to drop the price of admission while in this temporary location. It would be more fair to families if on their website they explained more clearly that this temporary location has very limited offerings so people can make a decision about how they choose to use their time off and resources.
