I typically like Valvoline because of the speed of their oil changes. However, I did not particularly care for my experience at this one in West Hartford.From the moment I pulled up, I was not directed into which part of the garage to pull into; one of the employees was on his phone and didn’t see me pull up, and when he did finally notice me he walked inside the garage without acknowledging me or showing me where to pull in. Instead, I had to wait until someone else saw me and directed me in. When directing me, he directed me to pull forward. My tire hit the walls of the work space below and only then did he tell me to turn the car…Once parked in the garage, the upselling began; I do know this is standard though, and they respected when I said I was only interested in an oil change. However, from there on, manners were not used and the man working the computer began opening the door and using car controls to check if anything was malfunctioning but did not communicate any of this with me prior to doing it.Overall, the experience was cold and uncomfortable. My recommendation to staff would be to be more communicative and personable when working with customers. I will continue to go to other Valvolines, but I do not anticipate returning to this specific location.

I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled to because the whole staff was great and David who I think is the manager was super super nice and helpful. It also was the fastest oil change I’ve ever gotten. Thank you!

Valvoline on Farmington Ave is great! The staff is always attentive and the manager makes sure everything is running smoothly and were all in and out. I've been coming her since 2017 and never went anywhere else, unless when out of town. I love the convenience of going local and dealing with people who know me and my car. Keep up the amazing work ethic!

I agree with what Noah wrote in his review, I don’t recommend going here which I’m sad to say because I used to always leave here very happy with my service. I came in for a routine oil change and it was constant uoselling, and I understand recommendations based on car mileage/age but there’s a way to tell someone they should have something serviced and not be rude and condescending. The two people working on my car rolled their eyes every time I talked and the man running the computer kept putting his head and hands inside my car to see mileage/reset oil percentage and didn’t ask first or just have me do it myself and that made me uncomfortable. Dillon was extremely rude when “recommending” additional services my car may need when I told him I would have that done elsewhere - like I said previously there is a way to go about communicating and the way these two men went about it was extremely unprofessional.Service: Oil change

Avoid at all costs, right when you pull in they start upselling you and when you politely decline they get super combative. I used to go here maybe 15-20 years ago and it was never this bad! Go to local mechanic or your dealer.

Pulled up to the location for a standard oil change. Wasn't even in a rush; i waited 20 minutes before they could begin talking to me. What followed wasn't a complete shock ; standard upselling from these quick lube types is the norm right? Why can't they take no for an answer though? Once you decline their BS politely, that should be the end of it right? Nah they just continue being rude and disrespectful to you once they realized they couldn't drain your wallet. I zoomed off ; please find a solid local mechanic ( quite a few towards hartford!) or just go to your dealer. Sucks because i use to have love for Valvoline ( they've been at this location for 25 years or more).

I will be honest, I loved this place up until the last time I came here. I'm pretty sure I left them a good review last time too. But this time I was treated very poorly. The new guy that said he came from the Berlin location took care of me today but was disrespectful as soon as I came in. He told me I need a new transmission and won't work on the car again until then. I just got it completely replaced and I told him twice but he continued to say that he won't give me service until I get a new one. I was ignored and told my car was a piece of junk until my girlfriend said the exact things I did and he just became a nice dude all of a sudden. I'm sorry but if she is saying what I just said but it's my car under my name, why are you treating me like I have five brain cells but my girlfriend gets the respect to be listened to. I will now just go to the Park Rd location where I'm treated like a human.

Part 2 of my Valvoline Oil change nightmare. So I call back the Valvoline on Park Rd ( per the response to my original email) to speak with a Business manager about my complaint. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to again... Assistant Manager Adam. PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED when you receive a response stating that Valvoline would like to hear or speak with you... this is A TRAP. I called back hoping to get some resolution to my $160 oil change debacle and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING CHANGED. Once again I had Assistant Manager Adam reiterating that I should have driven my car with a detached splash shield back to them " to allow them an opportunity to fix it".Forget work, forget safety, call us when we open at 9 and you have to be to work at 7:30 so we can then take a look at you car???AGAIN-- this entire interaction with Assistant Manager Adam and Valvoline has been AN EPIC FAIL AND DISAPPOINTMENT.Thank you Adam and Andrew for confirming what I said in my original complaint-Valvoline customer service- 0/10 Resolution skills-0/10 Passing the Buck 10/10THANKS FOR NOTHING.
