My daughter ran into a pole and damage the front of my 2008 MDX. She had it towed to BT Auto when I went to look at the extent of the damages, the truck was leaking antifreeze, the radiator was damage and the cross bar below it was also damaged the owner told me it would cost $4,000 to fix everything. And it would take a about two weeks. It is going on 2 months. Every week he tells me next week. Monday I called him and he told me the car was ready. When I get there the inside was full of dust, and he had to jump start it, which is when my son noticed that coolant was pouring out from under the truck, the bumper was loose and my splash guards were missing. He tells me it's not his fault. And the leak was my water pump. He said he has to fin the splash guards in the junk yard and don't know when he will find time to do that. I gave him $2500 deposit for parts. I Idoubt he spent $1000 considering he used parts from the junk yard. Now he wants to charge me 1600 to replace my water pump and timing belt. This guy is very dishonest. Now I'm going to have to sue him. Stay away.

BT Auto Repair and Painting is a terrific body shop. It's hard to find both virtually and physically. Located in Brookland near Catholic University, the shop is in an alley off of Evarts Street, NE. It is not easily accessible from Franklin Street, despite the Franklin Street address. Also, BT Auto has no discernible online presence. But it is a real find. The owner, Tesema, is skillful, honest and wonderful to deal with. He repaired a substantial dent in my SUV, repainted the door and installed a replacement running board -- all for $850. He turned around the job in two days. I give Tesema and his company, BT Auto Repair and Painting the very highest recommendation.

If you are looking for an affordable option for repairs on a lease return then BT auto is a convenient choice for residents in NE DC.

The owner (mechanic) is honest. The garage entrance is easy to miss. The alley is shared with another auto business. There isn't room for cars to pass each other on this cluttered block. If you do make it through the block, be extra careful as you exit. My insurance company gave me a repair estimate. This garage was 60% cheaper. We have a friend who brings cars here all the time and he suggested coming. There were a few hiccups: workers left grease marks on the seats, our phone number was accidentally left off the estimate (how can you be contacted otherwise?) and one cosmetic detail was forgotten. We are taking the car back to get that last item finished. Even with some glitches, I am happy to have my beloved car that was totaled in an accident back in our driveway. One of the parts was available new or used. We asked for the used part. When the owner researched the part, a newer one was available quicker. He installed the new part at the used price. If you want to save money on a repair or service, this garage can help. I would suggest clearly communicating and asking the smallest question to make sure you are on the same page with the owner. Request having your seats covered to avoid any marks on them. I would return for other repairs.
