We had a baby in March who got very sick and was hospitalized. We asked them to file an extension which they agreed to. I then contacted them once baby was out of the hospital and no response despite multiple calls and emails. We now don't know if the extension was even filed and are now looking at finding a new accountant and dealing with penalties from late filing. I saw multiple of the exact same experiences on yelp. DO NOT USE THIS ACCOUNTANT.

Please do not reach out to or count on this firm. We worked with Steven for two years without incident - I wouldn't say he did a great job or was particularly communicative but our taxes always got filed and we aren't aware of errors. However this past year he dodged my emails/phone calls, my husband's emails/phone calls, and my elderly mother's emails/phone calls (we all file separately). He once picked up the phone and then pretended to be someone else when he realized I was calling for an update on my taxes. He lied to us about filing for an extension and took forms from my mother that he never returned. Ultimately he stopped replying entirely and we had to look for a new accountant, several months after the filing deadline. I just got a notice that I owe several thousand dollars in late filing fees because it turns out he also lied about getting an extension. I don't know what is going on and while I wish Steven no ill will, please do not work with this firm or him. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I originally used this company because of their good reviews, and they did a great job with my taxes last year. This year, they filed an extension for me without notifying me (still no idea what exactly they filed), and after sending all my information and documents for this year's taxes, have completely ghosted me. Its been 3 months since I sent my documents or heard from them, and I have called and emailed numerous times. It makes me very uncomfortable that they have all my info and have disappeared and I will now have to find a new accountant. Really is a shame.

Incredibly inconsistent with their responses. You simply cannot rely on this company to give you a response in a timely manner. Very poor customer service. Emails and follow up emails go ignored. They do a decent job with actual tax work but what good does that do when you cannot get a response from them?

Good luck getting in touch with them when you need their help! Used their service in 2019 and they did a solid job. Tried using them in 2020 and they simply wouldn't respond to help. Had an issue with my 2019 return 2 years later with the irs and they again just are not responsive. They do a good job but they are just way too unresponsive so I would not trust them.

Worked with Capitol CPA during this tax season. I worked personally with Mustafa who was excellent. We met and discussed my tax situation (complex this year due to side gigs and small business, in addition to moving state lines). He was able to easily explain how we were going to tackle this, and suggested tax strategies to me that was able to save me money. I usually use TurboTax, but no longer as the service I received was excellent and the piece of mind of a professional dealing with my complex tax situation. Communication was great as I received prompt responses. They build a good relationship with you and you feel like you have a professional on your side.

We found Capitol CPA via a friend’s referral after being unable to complete our taxes on TurboTax or at H&R Block due to having income from a stock sale and having lived in two states in one year, both for the first time. We figured these would be relatively simple for a professional and were surprised that H&R was totally stumped after an hour consultation. In contrast, we uploaded our documents to Capitol’s portal and Mustafa was able to accurately and completely prepare our federal and state return without speaking to us. On the phone consultation he walked us through every line which both confirmed accuracy and explained to us how everything works. While we previously looked to spend as little as possible on filing taxes we have been converted to knowing the investment in a CPA is worth it, and we recommend this firm.

Update 2/13: A partner at Capitol CPA reached out to me to apologize for the situation and explain what happened. I was more than satisfied with their explanation and eagerness to earn my business and trust. I've taken them up on the offer to work with them so have updated the review initially and provide a final review once completed. ______________________________ Let me say the reason I reached out to Capitol CPA is because of their excellent reviews and they were my first pick. However, it's difficult to go with a company or trust them with your taxes when they can't even respond to you in a timely manner or at all. Let me detail my experience below: December 16, 2019: Send an inquiry through their website asking about availability for new clients. Receive a response from Steven that they're currently evaluating their capacity and will get back to me in a week. I respond immediately asking if I should follow up in a week or if they'll let me know? *CRICKETS* December 26, 2019: Ask for an update. Hear nothing, follow up with an inquiry through their website December 31, 2019: Receive a response from Steven apologizing for letting this slip through the cracks. They have room for new clients and ask for information. I respond an hour later with the information. *CRICKETS* January 19, 2019: Another follow up. Ask for an update. *CRICKETS* January 31, 2019: I give up. I reached out to three other companies and they immediately responded, asked for my tax information which I provided, and... immediately responded. So thank you Capitol CPA for wasting my time.

I've twice worked with Mustafa and just reached out to make a third appointment for 2019 tax prep. I'm a dual citizen with two sets of bank accounts and a rental property abroad. I also freelance. Mustafa made everything super simple and was really patient with my questions, I never felt rushed. The whole team are very professional and friendly. If you're looking for a stress-free tax experience, Capitol CPA is totally worth the money.
