Nice location with a view of the Capitol. The service is very good, but a bit slow. Everyone's steak was cooked about one level below what was ordered. For a high end steakhouse, it was fine.

The food and staff here are absolutely amazing. Our group came from out of town and Lewis ensured we had an absolutely memorable evening. The food is great and the staff is beyond spectacular, I would absolutely make the trip here again.
Located in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters headquarters off the wide, open expanse of the National Mall, Charlie Palmer Steak DC is dedicated to big, bold American food. Executive Chef Zach Long's menu stars the best American artisan beef cuts like an aged Angus Rib-eye "Cowboy" steak as well as updated seafood classics such as the Iced Shellfish Platter of lobster, shrimp, king crab, and oysters. Underscoring the patriotic menu, Palmer's innovative wine cube—which appears to be floating on water—features 3,500 bottles of exclusively American wine featuring over 600 selections. In addition to the private dining rooms, the rooftop terrace can accommodate 400 guests and possesses the city's most impressive view of the Capitol.

Best for Steakhouses, Politico & People Spotting Because: Located close to where Washington power players work, this venue serves up big, bold American dishes.
Yes, that was a secret service agent with the telltale earplug hovering around the front door. And over there that burly guy must be some politico's bodyguard. Such is the power play just blocks from the Capitol at Charlie Palmer Steak. The outside entrance is so discreet that, but for the bodyguard, you might walk past without noticing. Indoors, all stainless steel and steely-blue, with its extravagant glass-encased wine cellar and pond splashing water, you might be anywhere but in the lap of U.S. power. No surprise, the menu is just as powerful as the restaurant, and the food, even at lunch, focuses on beef---hanger steak, tenderloin, burger, filet mignon salad---with a few seafood offerings to round out the selections. But take a cue from the restaurant name: order beef. And order it dry-aged. You can order several starters (butter-poached New Caledonian prawns with chive risotto) or sides (baked Parmesan gnocchi or Brussels sprouts and chestnuts) and make a meal of them. Either way, from the crispy breadsticks and soft rolls to the comprehensive all-American artisan cheese list, you'll find a Charlie Palmer meal rich in its detail, and the service quiet, discreet and very efficient. Besides, the tony atmosphere further underscores how this place aims to please the nation's most powerful folks. The prix-fixe lunch is a steal.
