Found the most gorgeous emerald green Longchamp bag here! The shopkeeper was kind and friendly. It does get crowded on weekends though. Will definitely be back to shop more and hopefully consign!

Cute selection. The store helper employee who helped us with the fitting room was very kind and welcoming! Unfortunately the piece we chose was a perfect fit but we noticed the pants were unraveling at the seam. The other clerk at the cash register agreed that they were unraveling/unstitching up the leg seam and told us we have to get them hemmed or professionally finished as they are just raw unfinished hems and could unravel with wear, and despite this she was unwilling to give us any sort of discount on the $159 purchase. Unfortunately would not be able to tell friends that they can trust their purchases here, as this was something we discovered about the piece and were not told. Unstitching, used garments shouldn't be this highly priced

Stop in this store if you're in the area but don't go out of your way for it. The selection of designer clothes, bags, and shoes was okay, a lot of them looked well loved. I found most of the bags to be droopy, sweaters pilling, and a lot of it was faded, you definitely have to dig to find a gem. The owner seemed nice but don't bring your drinks inside or she'll take them and put it in a box by the door, ew. The prices were kind of high for what you're getting but like I said, you might find something worth it. I have been a couple of times and yet to find something worthwhile yet.

There are some really nice things here, but I had a pretty jarring experience buying a black sweater that was apparently mis priced. I had already bought the sweater and was waiting for a friend when the woman who rang me up asked to see it again and realized that even though it was priced for 50, it should have been 175, which I couldn’t afford. I then had to give it back and wasn’t even refunded on my credit card. Not a great experience.

The clothing is top notch and the people working there really help you create gorgeous outfits. It’s so fun and such a gem that the owner should charge a membership fee to walk in the door!

I use to go here a while back and I do mean a while lol it use to be another owner and she wants all that nice I have been on the hunt for a nice vintage bag I totally forgot about this shop I went in today I believe I meet the owner she was very nice and welcoming there where two ladies working there one older and one younger they were both very nice and super helpful I believe the owner was ringing me up we had a nice conversation the shop gets buys as it always does it's a small space but it's neat clean and organized I will be going back soon!

The store clerk/owner whomever she was that I encountered today was rude, mean spirited and unwelcoming. I will never go back there again even if they were giving away clothes.

Lovely and well-curated vintage shop in Eastern Market. Carries a good selection of contemporary consignment, vintage labels, and luxury designer items. I've found Clothes Encounters prices designer items very reasonably priced compared to other consignment shops in the region. I always find something amazing here.

My go to shop in DC for vintage jewelry and great quality clothes! The owner is FANTASTIC, and has built a great community around her customers. Prices are excellent for the high quality designer items and its always a super fun experience! Its very small so it can get crowded but 100% worth it and its on a great street to get coffee before and after. Scored an Iradj Moini bracelet at a superb price among many other treasures!

I stopped into this shop hoping to find a few designer pieces for my mother but instead I found a shop owner with a bad attitude. First, I was greeted with a judgmental head to toe stare - okay, I can brush that off. When leaving the shop though, another customer was walking in so I held the door open for a few seconds to let her pass as I walked out. When doing so, the shop owner yelled out “thanks so much for leaving our door wide open!” in the most condescending voice. It didn’t work in her favor though, the amount of side eyes she received from other customers in the store confirmed her negative attitude. Good luck! I will say that the younger girls working in the shop were very sweet & answered any questions that I had. They might be the only reason I ever return. REPLY TO STORE RESPONSE: Yes!100% positive this is the store. The unfortunate encounter happened on Saturday though, not today (Thursday 8/24).

Everything about this store is wonderful. From the selection of bags, to jewelry, to clothes, everything is spectacularly well curated. Whenever someone compliments me on my clothes, my response seems to always be “thanks, it’s from Clothes Encounters!”For my plus sized girlies, this shop also has a better range than other comparable places in town.
